I think gary oldman's taking into account the way both voldemort and joker are portrayed in the movies. Yes, voldemort is an equivalent hitler but do we really, and truly feel that considering that he appears very rarely. He's always appearing in the last few moments of the movies and that's just not enough. In the dark knight, the joker makes surprising and on the edge of your seat performances.These are first hand experiences for the audience where we truly get to see the joker's madness...i.e. sticking a pencil into someones forehead, holding a knife countlessly to peoples faces and using explosives. These are all much more relatable and realistic because we know the consequences and the damage whether it's first hand or on the news etc. Also, the joker is someone who we don't much about his orgins. Often his orgin is changed and twisted, and the only man able to tell the truth is the joker himself. So what can we say is more dangerous: a man who is an 'agent of chaos' seeking corruption for the only purposes of amusing himself, or a man who we see is humanized and has an actual reason for seeking revenge on the world for the life he's lived? A man who has no reason for cruelty and madness is more dangerous than someone who does because we see how corrupt and illogical they really are. They have no explanation for their actions except for destroying the morals and ethics of society.
