USA Today reveals new HBP pics, trailer preview A new article just released by USA Today reveals two awesome new pictures!

- Young Tom Riddle at the orphanage with Dumbledore in the background
- Dumbledore creating a firestorm to fend off the Inferi

The newspaper also revealed lots of big notes about the film:

The trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince arrives today online and makes its debut in theaters Friday before The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Film editing is complete, says director David Yates, and studio officials will soon see the finished product.

Then next month, test audiences will get a sneak peek — something that doesn't seem to faze Yates in the least. "That's an incredibly useful process," he says.

The big reveal in the trailer (and in this exclusive photo from it): a glimpse of the young Tom Riddle, who grows up to become the wizarding world's most malevolent force, Lord Voldemort.

Only 11 HOURS and 28 MORE MINS UNTILL THE TRAILER!!!

I was really mad about who they got to play the teenage/young adult Tom Riddle. Jamie Campbell Bower was in talks to do it, but then they dropped him at the last minute in favor of Ralph Fienne's (the mega hot man who plays Voldemort) nephew! Ugh, that made me mad - I was dying to see Jamie in the role!

Posted by Kself482 Jul 29th 2008

I take that back... my bad. But I must say, this kid has the same beautiful eyes as his uncle (: Gah, Ralph Fiennes is so sexy!

Posted by Hogwartsgirl52 Jul 29th 2008

Dude that pic of Tom Riddle is like wow. They did a good casting job.

Posted by Abergoat Jul 29th 2008

Kself482, you cannot deny that this kid IS Tom Riddle. Also, about Dumbledore's hair... Like I said before, it would probably look like a horrible dye job if it were purely auburn. I prefer it to be greying, like it is. Also, again, the scene is too dark and serious for the silly plum suit.

Posted by HarryPotterChloe Jul 29th 2008

What happened to Dumbledore's auburn hair? And his plum suit? And they've even got rid of his glasses. I preferred Richard Harris a lot more than Michael Gambon, he was so much more calmer and understanding when he played Dumbledore :(

Posted by hpninjaskills Jul 29th 2008

Oh golly gee people, shut the mother up about Dumbledore's hair, outfit, blah blah blah. So what if they didn't follow what the book said? Maybe they wanted a more darker tone/feel to this movie, so they had to dress Dumbledore up in plain clothes that would blend in nicely with the coloring of the walls, and of Tom Riddle's appearance. Golly gee! You guys are overreacting about stupid little things. At least they even put in this scene.

Posted by Walfreeda Jul 29th 2008

This young Tom Riddle could be the youngest brother of the actor who played Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets...

Posted by mischiefmanaged16 Jul 29th 2008

Dumbly has transformed into Gandalf! Fly, you fools!! I'm so excited that they have the Riddle scene, and that actor looks amazing as Riddle. So pumped for the trailer!

Posted by monstrous Jul 29th 2008

HAHA! OMG, Young Voldy has that sort of Cole Sear look from the Sixth Sense. Ha.

Posted by marko Jul 29th 2008

ITS ABOUT TIME. lol. This is so exciting. The picture of young Tom Riddle looks like the little kid from the Omen. Which is good... considering the kid in the Omen was the antichrist and all... I can't wait.

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 29th 2008

awesome pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by LilyLuna_Potter Jul 29th 2008

ok these pictures rock! Little Voldy is so cute haha I think its amazing how he is actually related to Ralph Fiennes so they actually look somewhat alike. Dumbledore with his firestorm looks so beast! This movie is going to be amazing!!!

Posted by Mirdala Jul 29th 2008

To everyone whining about the hair color, I am so glad to know that you "fans" consider his hair color more important than the story and the fact that this scene is in the movie. My god you idiots should feel good that they even put up with your moaning. Go find a nice U-bend and stop bothering us.

THEN HOW THE FUKKIN HELL DO U THINK A WIZARD SHOULD BE GRAYING AT THAT YOUNG AGE??? MAYBE MUGGLE FATHERS START BALDING AT THAT AGE... BUT MY UNCLE IS LIKE 60, AND HE ISN'T ALL GRAY YET... SHEESH! Browncoat- HAHAHAHAH that

Posted by MagicMaker222 Jul 29th 2008

great! I looked at all the comments and it looks like there were three big things in common with just about everyone. Number 3-Everyone is excited about pictures/trailer. Number 2- Everyone thinks the second looks like Gandalf picture. Number 1- Michael Gambon isn't a good Dumbledore. I think I would answer yes to all three of those as well. I even saw one person talking about how they think the film should be 163 minutes long, lol. Yes it should be but I think the next thing to think about is which Harry Potter shirt you are going to wear to the movie and what kind of drink you will order to drink during the film. In other words, I think it a little late to be talking about the length of the film,it's done! Happy Tralier Watching tonight everyone!

Posted by colorfulcrocs Jul 29th 2008

darn. Dumbledore isn't wearing a purple suit.

Posted by House_of_Black Jul 29th 2008

Dumbledore in pants. LOL!

Posted by phoenix_knight Jul 29th 2008

of course he's in pants House_of_Black, do u want him to look suspicious to the Muggles?!?

Posted by heather_s_70056 Jul 29th 2008

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH I love these pics. For those of you who think the young riddle pic looks too dark, don't forget it is a memory.

Posted by phoenix_knight Jul 29th 2008

it helps bring out the mood too ;)

Posted by Pride Jul 29th 2008

Both pics are awesome! But I have to agree with "nugglemutter" the second one does look like Gandalf.

Posted by dobbysbasilisk Jul 29th 2008

Haha Dumbledores got a bob! Richard Harris would have been great doing the orphanage scene. But we got Michael Gambon, and hes sticking 'round, so stop complaining you squibsters! These have to be the best HBP pictures yet. This is something even Micah would get excited about!

Posted by Caroline526 Jul 29th 2008

These are indeed the best pictures yet! To the person above: Micah darn well should be excited!! HA! 1) Young Tom does look exceptional 2) As pretty much everyone else has said, Michael Gambon is definitely rocking the Gandalf! 3) The thing about the suit though - we all must remember that everyone wears muggle clothes in the movies. Always have! I have less than an hour till the trailer folks!

Posted by dobbysbasilisk Jul 29th 2008

How is it less than an hour? Am I missing out on something here? Haha.

Posted by fawkeshermione17 Jul 29th 2008

Wow, young Tom is perfect, but is Dumbledore's suit plum and velvet like it was in the book? I don't really care, of course, but I just loved that line - " 'Nice suit, sir' Harry said before he could help himself." Classic Jo.
