Harry Potter Prequel sets short story sales record
Back in June, we told you about the prequel that JK Rowling wrote to support Waterstone's "What's Your Story" charity auction. Jo's story sold to the winning bidder for nearly $50,000Today, the postcard book that includes stories from Jo and 12 other authors went on sale to the general public. Lo and behold, The Telegraph is reporting that 10,000 copies went on sale at Waterstone's stores, and 10,000 copies were sold by the end of the day! From the article:
"Fans have been desperate to own this limited edition piece of Harry Potter history," said Toby Bourne, Waterstone's head of children's buying. "Pre-orders flooded in from all over the world. Demand was so big that we stopped taking pre-orders to ensure customers had a chance to buy the book in stores."

10,000 copies is a big number, as anyone could agree. An I'm sure that whatever charity the proceeds go to is benefiting greatly. Go Waterstones!

I was able to preorder mine and I live in the united states. Actually the shipping from england wasn't that bad at all. For the book and shipping, I paid around 25.00...which I considered to be a bargain. I just checked the status of this order and it says that it's being processed...so hopefully I'll get it soon!
Dang it!! i want one. i hope they print more and sale them in the US. i've already pre-ordered the Special Edition version of the Tales of Beedle the Bard book.

If this is true and I belive this is true, that would mean that each author would end up with $42,000, with a all around total of $550,000, before even spliting up the money. WOW, THAT IS JUST LIKE WOW, AMAZING!!!

Gahhh, I went to Waterstone's and the books haven't come yet but they said that the shipping with the books would come in a couple days. I don't get it, why does it say that's out 7 Aug. It said so also on a poster inside Waterstone's.
I went to get it today and they said they didn't have them in yet. Apparently all the shipments have disappeared and they are trying to track them down.
