IGN previews Half-Blood Prince DS game
IGN previews Half-Blood Prince DS game The Half-Blood Prince film and video game are quickly approaching their November releases, and another preview of the game is now online! This one is about the Nintendo DS version, courtesy of IGN:

Most of the Hogwarts school is represented in an isometric world. Players control Harry and can explore the grounds of the wizarding school. Numerous students litter the halls and courtyards, offering friendly challenges.

The first portion of the game we tried was the Wizard Duel. Players face off in one on one magic fights with fellow students. Players use the touch screen to attack and defend. The touch screen is split into two sides to switch between attack spells and defense spells.

Posted by sbwilson2 Aug 13th 2008

who cares, these games cannot be that good. but i respect the hardcore gamers who just shhh their pants waiting for the arrival of this game.

Posted by hpintwense06 Aug 13th 2008

That's cool. I don't buy video games but my brother's got a Wii. Last year he bought the HP5 Wii game and he really liked it, so he wants to get the HP6 Wii game this year.

AT LEAST IT'S NEWS!

Posted by rl94 Aug 13th 2008

5th

Posted by kreacher888 Aug 13th 2008

ok.. so i feel as though all of the video games abt harry potter are pretty much the same. you always go around hogwarts, and do "friendly little challenges" there not realated to th ebooks at all, or at least very little, so therefore one must conclude the only reason they make a new one with every movie is purely money driven.

Posted by honeydukes0209 Aug 13th 2008

Well, I don't play the games either, but they look good. Finally some news, tho!

Posted by chommy Aug 13th 2008

Meh, it's news. Hopefully we don't go off topic and start talking about when we die or something. Honestly, some people ...

my post above "ok.. so i feel as though all of the video games abt harry potter are pretty much the same. you always go around hogwarts, and do "friendly little challenges" there not realated to th ebooks at all, or at least very little, so therefore one must conclude the only reason they make a new one with every movie is purely money driven" does anyone agree with me??

Posted by CROOKSHANKS99 Aug 13th 2008

haha sweet!

Posted by hermione93 Aug 13th 2008

kreacher888:i've never played the games but you are probably right. whenever they describe the games they all sound the same.

Posted by AccioIrmathy Aug 13th 2008

18? Hm... sounds fun :) Cant wait to get it. But yeah, its true, most of the games are wayy too similar. And I dont mean to compare Twilight with Harry Potter [Because Harry Potter is WAY better and they're two really different books] but I wonder if Twilight will come out with a video game too. Ok well that wasnt really comparing but, oh well.

Posted by trueligth Aug 13th 2008

Hurray!! I'm in the top 20. I can wait for the game and the movie to be out, even when I'm not into games I can wait.

Posted by Rose37 Aug 13th 2008

I like to read more than I do playing video games!!! Than after I finish reading the book, than I watch the book come to live in a movie!!! Tho books are always better than the movies!!!

Posted by DudleyCool Aug 13th 2008

Reply to kreacher888 I can't say I agree with you completely. The first three games were pretty good. And the PC version of Chamber of Secrets was very book and film accurate, especially when compared to its console cousins. While the console versions didn't include things like Gilderoy Lockheard entering the tunnel to the Chamber of Secrets, the writing on the wall, Malfoy and Harry chasing the snitch through the Quidditch stadium trench, and Dobby, the CoS PC game had all of that and more. It was loaded with secrets, easter eggs, creatures, and spells from JK's world complete with a Hogwarts that matched her descriptions extremely well. The events of the story were all in order and there were very few changes. The Hufflepuff color in the game was canary yellow, too, as opposed to purple as in the console versions. It's evident that a lot of care went into that game.

im buying it for the ps3 its terrible on the ds i bet the only hp game that was good on gameboy advance was prisoner of azkaban i got it on my ipod touch along with goblet of fire and hpss and hpcs and hp5

Posted by rooon Aug 14th 2008

I makes HP less magical when it is made into a video game. : (

Posted by AurorMousie Aug 14th 2008

Your HBP timer is saying 1054 days, just to let you guys know!

Posted by crispyo Aug 14th 2008

i doubt it'll be very good on the ds. majority of their good games are the 2d animated (cartoon style) games, not the 3d real life ones, besides only a very few.

Posted by Kranendonky Aug 14th 2008

Hi Everyone! There has been a part of a HBP Scene leaked on youtube!!!! Here is the link to watch it http://www.youtube.com/wa tch?v=U3cufscx44c ~Kra nendonky~ P.s I leaked it there!!!

"They want these upcoming HP games to not only be fun, but really convey the story that causes so many fans to knit their own scarves and write horrible slash fiction."-------> that bit made me giggle. haha.

Posted by dont_look_down Aug 14th 2008

"Most of the Hogwarts school is represented in an isometric world. Players control Harry and can explore the grounds of the wizarding school, just like in every single previous Harry Potter game. Numerous students litter the halls and courtyards, just like in every other HP game, offering friendly challenges." not much new then..

Posted by PottyforPotter Aug 14th 2008

Definitely getting it. I've only ever gotten the CoS PC Game (stuck at the Basilisk bit), the Goblet of Fire Xbox game (which was quite fun but I can't pass the part in the maze with the giant Skrewt) and the OotP GameBoy Advance Game which REALLY sucked. Now I want to try one for the DS... maybe using the stylus instead of the buttons will make it worthwhile! It kind of gets boring when you just keep walking around Hogwarts and talking to people... I mean, it was something different for the OotP game but I think they should go back to their original kind of gameplay. The "follow-the-main-characte r-through-the-story" kind of thing, you know. Apparently the Wii game was good... with the Wii remote as the wand and everything, which sounds really fun! But the wand movements were all wrong, like Wingardium Leviosa wasn't "swish and flick". Too bad I don't have a Wii. I'm guessing PS is kind of like Xbox... I dunno if Xbox 360 is any different (I have both) but my dad prefers the Xbox 360 so he might just get the game for that instead...
