Half-Blood Prince delayed until July 17th, 2009
Warner Brothers has just announced that Half-Blood Prince will be delayed. The film will instead be released on July 17th, 2009. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers’ strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films—changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. you guys have to remember one tiny thing... if twilight was released only 2 weeks after HBP, the longevity of harry's popularity might go down dramatically, especially since a lot of the fans are the same. this way BOTH movies will probably do better, having two HUGE cult films released within weeks was NOT a smart move by warner bros or summit productions. this still doesn't explain the 11 month delay... especially since just 2 days ago i saw the harry potter trailer in front of sisterhood of the traveling pants 2... i am really disappointed because i was looking forward to see 2 really good movies released this winter, but... you gotta feel sorry for the poor Warner Bros employee who definitely lost their job over this one. they are going to lose money for the ads.

Does wb realize that because of how dark the series is turnout to be, it is best for the sixth and seventh movie to come out during the fall/winter times(dark times), wither than the spring/summer times(light times!!! Trust me guys, the hp series isn't a family film anymore. The series, isn't even a kids/preteen film anymore. The hp series are now for the age groups of teens/young adults and Adults!!!

Seriously, this is really pathetic. It just shows how much Warner Bros. doesn't actually care about their fans, they only care about the money. It's just another money grab. Personally, if the movie comes out in July instead of November, I don't think I'll see it. It'll be hard to do, but I don't really feel like giving WB my money. I also plan on boycotting all future WB movies that are released to the theatres. I know I'm only one person and can't do much but it'll make me feel better for trying. Out of all the hp fans, you would think that australia would be happy. They only had to waiit 7 months after their Dec release of hp movie six, while the US and the UK had to wait 8 months after our Nov release of the hp movie six, if and only if the movie was coming out in Novermber, like the plan was in the first place.

If this movie is released so many months later for the reason that it will make more money in another season (which Warner Brothers has admitted--filming and post-production were "finished successfully"), I will not see it in theaters, nor will any of my friends. This is wrong and digusting, especially considering that this is a kids' movie. This is completely against the values that JK Rowling instills in the Harry Potter series. WB is no better than the corrupt government in the Harry Potter series--who cares about everyone else; let's just do what's best for the people in charge!
