I cant believe they chose to respond to this backlash with yet more talk of this being a business decison, yes, that it what there about but there insane if they think Potter 6 is going to do anything remotely what TDK did. First off, it just doesnt have all the diciding elements. Secondly just because other studios dont have the blockbusters doesnt mean people will go see this. Off the top of my head, I can think of T4, Transformers 2, Watchmen, Wolverine, and the new Star Trek movie, add Potter and you have a typical summer of blockbusters, this move takes away 300 mil from 2008 and just adds 300 mil to 2009, I dont get why it matters, and I hope someone gets fired when they find out the pissed off enough fans on top of the movie making about what it usually does, OotP was a fluke in terms of blockbuster, it made 2 mil more then Gobet but it didnt sell more tickets, the giant core of a Potter movie comes from the Potter fans, and it doesnt matter when the movie is released. I'm sure that by the time HBP is released, everyone will be excited to see it, and forget about all the resolutions and threats they're making now. Did it not occur to W.B. in their greed induced delirium that the reason people went to see Dark Knight en masse was because it was an excellent film? And think about it, people! I know the vast majority of you hate the Order of the Phoenix film, but the reviews for it were (generally) much better than for the first four! Why did we all go to see it? Because the reviews were great. And as far as Dark Knight goes, Heath Ledger died at the end of this film. He was said to have gotten very dark due to his performance. Who wouldn't want to see that? Despite being erroneous, people were chanting that it was the film that killed Ledger! Everyone was nuts to see it, and it delivered pretty darn well. I know we'll end up giving W.B. what they want- more money. But I wish that we could, as a group, boycott the film. Don't give them what they want, stay away from theatres. If we can wait until July of '09 for the movie, can't we wait a couple months longer to rent or buy the DVD? And you all know very well that despite W.B.'s claim that it won't have an effect on the last two films, I think we can be very sure it will. So let's wait even longer, boycott the darned film.

I know about summer and kids being out of school. But I do not know any kids going to school on Saturday or Sunday. Has WB heard of Thanksgiving (Nov. 27, 2008) , the biggest movie weekend of the year ?

It's not even about making more money in the summer as they say! What they really mean is this: The Dark Knight made them so much money THIS year.. they want to push HBP next year to make more money in the next fiscal year since they don't have a blockbuster lined up and next years gross will look "pitiful" compared to this years after Dark Knight and Harry Potter in the same year. But it is disgraceful that they would do this a mere THREE months before the release date... when people have planned things around it and anticipating it for already over a year. What I think is even more disgraceful is that they no doubt were toying with the idea for a while, hence the lack of major advertisements, a late teaser trailer, etc. and were just waiting to see how much Dark Knight would bring in before pulling the plug on Potter. So them wanting to wait ill next year is one thing, but pushing it ALL the way back to July... thats another!!! Why not sooner! They claim cause the market is better for the younger fans in the Summer but guess what... if they did their research right.. most of the die hard Harry Potter fans are in their teens, 20s, and even 30s as the first book itself came out in what 1997ish? That means if you were 10 when you read it.. then you would be in your 20s now! So WB is just alienating their main marketing demographic cause we will see it anytime regardless of time place but we don't want to wait another whole year practically!! It is outrageous! Why sit on a COMPLETED film for 11 months and risk it getting pirated just to boost your earnings for the next fiscal year... way to go WB... you managed to miss off thousands of people in a matter of moments and if you really loved your fans... you would have thought about letting us down sooner and being honest all along then throwing this at us a mere three months before the release. way to go...

Pushing the release date back seems like an odd way to show how much 'we love our fans'. Smart move, WB. psst off half your fans in a poorly-concealed money-grubbing scheme. The 'young, core Potter audience' would still go see the film, school or no school.
