of course...the new date, ujum, i will not be watching THAT version of the trailer. I am in denial and i will not admit the change until Nov 21...maybe even a week after that. The last thing u lose is Hope. Guys, I am pretty sure this is NOT the new trailer, so dont freak out. But wow, I had forgotten what a brilliant trailer that was. It really is very good. The timing of everything is so dramatic and exciting. Sigh. And, like dramaqueen, I do not by any means approve of WBs shallow and greedy decision, but I have gotten used to the idea now, and perhaps this extra time will be taken to make the movie even better than it would have been.

Not a new trailer and the date was changed within a day. I checked to make sure the date change was not a rumor. Why is WB constantly poring salt in the wound. Sounds like a publicity stun to me. Do not be surprised if they set the date to Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving in the US) and this was just a way to get free advertising.

I love how theyre basically saying "screw you fans." Theyre not even considering the December option. What they should do is tell us why they dont want to release it in December. Im no longer excited about HBP because Im too furious with WB. Theyre really digging themselves into a deeper hole with the fans by posting this stuff. This whole rebellion against moving Half-Blood Prince IS making us look bad. Its one thing to protest for your right to live, your role in the community, your health or your salary, but WB isnt obligated to release the movies just for you; until the sales transaction is completed, you are no way but theoretically part of the deal, because its their movie and they have the rights to control it. The Harry Potter franchise isnt ours just because we like it; on the contrary, WB and J.K. Rowling created it. They are sharing the results of their talent with you, and when you whine like this about details of their work that you selfishly want to control or take credit for (such as the Lexicon suit and Dumbledores orientation) youre essentially coveting the fruits of their labor and devaluing it. So yes, thats why you look bad.
The most humorous thing about this ordeal, is that the movie is coming out in less than a year; there was practically nothing to promote it so far except a sunk trailer, and yet everyones whining that they got their hopes up. Pray tell, how? Pictures? If we could wait years for J.K. Rowling to release book after book, we can wait the extra time for Half-Blood Prince.

TrancendingVista - we got our hopes up because WB annouced the release date months ago. When the trailer first came out it ended with Nov. 21 , 2008. WB released the world wide release dates just a week before the change with the US date as Nov. 21. WB has called it a delay so they have admitted the date has changed. How could you question how we got our hopes up? WB lied. I guess when someone lies to you it is there right to decieve you since they own the information and can release it as they please.

Bethinoz - Im really dissapointed in the move too, but I wouldnt say that WB lied. Theres something wrong in their administration though, because of the mass miscommunication. You know how on the Terms of Use on everything, it says "we have the right to change our policy on any of the above"? They didnt really make us a promise, they made us an estimate. Its like changing your schedule to make going somewhere more convenient; it doesnt mean you lied, it means you had to do something else.

No where on any of the anoucements from WB was estimate or "we have the right to change our policy on any of the above" listed. Are you trying to say if you are a big company you can say or do anything you like? I guess they have not really made us a promise that the movie will be released July 17. Harry Potter is being delayed because Horn may not get his bonus next year if he does not come up with a way to increase revenue for 2009. He does not care if Harry Potter makes more money. HPB may actually make less money in 2009 since there will be less hype. The Tales of Beedle the Bard and Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone: 10th Anniversary Edition are both coming out this year. Dan will be in New York doing Equus on Broadway. The only HP event announced for 2009 is the movie. Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 27, 2008) is one of the largest movie weekends in the US. The reason OOTP did so well in July was because the book was coming out in the same month. I know alot of people who went to the movie and stood in line for the book. The actors will be filming DH in 2009. If they are still filming in July will they break to do the film premiers? Will David Yates and his staff miss the premiers or continue preparing DH? If everyone stops work on DH to promote HBP will DH be ready for the 2010 release? How many HP fans will flip to Twilight? Do not let Horn make you believe this had anything to do with WB making more money on HBP. It is all about him and his bonus!

How do I know that everyone who says they will boycott the movie will actually boycott the movie. 11 months is a long time, and people who are upset now might just change their minds. If any of you is as upset and outraged as I am for the STUPID decicion made by WB in pushing HBP for July just for the MONEY, I suggest you go to the offical WB web site and send them your thoughts through the FEEDBACK option for the Harry Potter site. Just tell them how you feel about it!!! As for me, I am BOYCOTTING all WB products until July 2009, and probably will do so for the movie as well. How? I probably will wait about four days and go see the movie at 2 P.M. when the theatre is empty, buy a ticket for a movie made by any other studio and enter to see HBP. Thats our payback time for what they did to us! And I dont care what anybody says!!! Only true Harry Potter fans know what it feels like to be lied to, and treated with DISLOYALTY!!! I feel I was lied to and that the WB misrepresented themselves and the product they were putting forth, only to explain themselves by actually stating it was mainly a monetary move. Ha. Im not even going to bother watching it ey. Just a date change, woopdee-friggin-do-dah. And why would they even bother releasing any more photos? To be honest i think WB made a really bad decision, not only because they have hurt all of us [their money btw] but also because all the hype that they had begun to build is now lost. I dont know about everyone else but I feel that the lead up to July 17th isnt going to be anything like the build up to any other HP movie. I think theyve dissapointed too many people and I think the fans are going to make them pay for it. I for one am avoiding the cinema until atleast a week after its release and will only be watching it once. If the folks at WB had been a small time business that was hard for money, this all would be so much more understandable. But theyre not.
They already have billions of dollars. What people need to understand is yes, business is about cash, but when they have so much as it is (that they wouldnt have without us to begin with), you should think of the fans too. What they are basically doing is choosing the cash over the fans. The cash that they already have plenty of. And whether it be Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings -- in general, its just WRONG.

I do believe that it is a companies main objective to make money. That said I also believe that was not the goal when the HBP was delayed. My point is that if you have or know anyone with Time Warner or WB stock I would be warning them that the decions are being made based on what will put money in the pockets of upper level managment, by way of bonuses, and not what is best for the company.

Honestly what is wrong with postponing the movie? No Harry Potter fan LIKES it, but its LEGAL, and we dont know any of the WB execs personally (I dont anyway) so they have nothing to owe us. Theyre being courteous for apologizing, in fact. And stomping our fists demanding entertainment makes us look like a mob, not righteous protestors.
WB could do a lot worse! These are the people who spent billions of dollars to make the most expensive movies on the planet! How can you slam them as "big buisiness only out for money" if you buy their products loyally, and then only get upset when they muck up a release date? And you know what will happen if you try to cut funds from them by boycotting them? They could muck up more release dates.
Plus, Alan Horn has an interesting point. Come back this place July, theyll have the Half-Blood Prince movie out. A few months later, Deathly Hallows, then in even less time Deathly Hallows 2. Then the theme park. Wont that be cool to have an entire years time when theres tons of movie news? Give them some time to get prepared first, and maybe youll have more fun. Maybe somewhere along the way Harry Potter fans forgot this was all about fun and lost all their patience...
