In late-August, we asked you all to send in your stories of how you discovered the Harry Potter series. We ended up receiving over 500 entries for this area of the site that we're putting together, and it's now available right here! We encourage everyone to take some time to read these stories, as they remind of why Harry Potter became the success that it is. Thank you to EVERYONE who contributed with their stories. We couldn't include them all, but we believe that the ones chosen for publication on the site reflect the best parts of the fandom. Enjoy!

Honestly, I dont remember HOW exactly I got interested in HP, but I do remember going to our Kwik Trip store up town & looking at the VHSs (wow, that was a long time ago! :P) & saying something like "Ohhh yay! Harry Potter!" I grabbed it off the rack & mom rented it for me & I think I watched it twice! :P Then I think I ended up getting the paperback book for my bday or something :P Thats all I really remember.... lol

Aww good old days...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-09-28 21:44:39

I love reading these stories! Theyre so heart warming, and theyre reminding me about how much I really love HP (Im sorry to say I have neglecting it)...But now I think Ill reread them again. I havent read them in a couple months!...I still remember the first time I read HP. I as little when my mom read the first two to me so I quickly lost interest and played with my toy truck instead. But years later I didnt believe my brother when he said Dumbledore died, and he wouldnt let me look in the book without reading it. So I picked up the first one and worked my way up! lol

I was going to write in about how I got hooked on Harry Potter, but they wanted people who started with the series 10 years ago. I discovered HP in 2002. so, I didnt think they would accept my story. Anyway, I fell in love with the series. My husband thinks I am a HP freak because I read the books so much, but there are other people who have read the entire series more than me. I love HP, Mugglenet, and Mugglecast. I do have a few jigsaw puzzles, two coloring books, a few posters and Ron and Harry trying to catch a winged key on brooms. (from the first book). I hope to visit England and Scotland someday. I didnt realise that there was so much merchandise available. I would love to get more HP stuff. Yeah! JKR. I hope Mugglenet lets Jo know how much her books mean to so many people.

Same here Merrymarge, I did not start reading till later as well. I was a movie only fan untill my now 4 year old insisted I read the book to him at bedtime, when he was 2 and a half. I started reading it to him, then I got hooked. hehe

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-09-29 09:14:15

sad to see you published only stories from US, I should not bother to send mine...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-09-29 10:37:27

The stories were very fun to read, I especially laughed at the one where this girl says she thought at first that the book would just contain Dumbledore and Mc Gonagall conversations lol

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-09-29 14:24:57

I love nostalgia. :]

Aww reading all those stories was so great! The YOUtube videos were fun too. I love that all these strangers feel like friends because Im connected to them through Harry Potter. It really makes me relieve my own intro to Harry. I cant imagine life without it.

Aww i didnt enter! okay my mom read the books when she was younger and was trying to convince me to read them. i told her they were too scary and i didnt want to read them. i had watched part of the movie, harry had the sword in one hand and the stone in the other, i thought the stone was some gushy organ so i immedialty turned away. my mom started reading them aloud when i was 10. i was trying not to listen, playing nintendogs on my DS, but i got hooked. after about five minutes i was listen rapidly, but still trying to act like i didnt care or want to know more. then, 10 minute mark, i was listening, my eyes wide, DS off. 2 more minutes and my mom said time to go to bed. i grabbed the book quickly said i loved it and asked if i could read it some more tonight. she said in the morning now im a finatic (im working on my 14th time reading all) and she doesnt even remember who luna is (and shes a pretty memorable character) -KT

Pandora, They didnt just post stories from the US. There were several from Canada as well, and I assume that it was mostly Americans and Canadians who sent in stories. I sent a story in and dont really care that it wasnt put in, because my thoughts were mirrored by a lot of the entries. I can see safely say though, a whole entire decade later, Harry Potter still remains embedded in my heard and that currently Im still reading the books. VIVA HARRY!

I would like to thank MuggleNet for printing my recollections. I was able to talk with an adult patron today. He finished Half-Blood Prince and was torn by what happened at the end and had to have Deathly Hallows to continue reading. Thank you again. BrendaW (48)
