The weekend box office tallies are in, and the latest Bond flick Quantam of Solace has broken Goblet of Fire's UK opening-day box office record. Quantum brought in 4.9 million pounds on Friday, beating out Goblet's opening day of 4 million.

Quantum of Solace** got a typo there an a instead of an u just a heads up. Unless a movie is called Titanic I think all other movies well have their records broken by another movie, but hey Bond movies are great, Im stoked for Quantum of Solace, and HBP could break its record, because i have to say HBP might be the best harry potter movie so far from what Ive seen and heard

Noooooo.... Oh well. Half-Blood Prince will (hopefully) get Harry Potter back on top. Problem is, some Potter fans have already decided not to watch HBP on the opening weekend, because they want to prove to Warner Brothers that choosing to delay the release of HBP wont help them get more money. Hmm... Im in half a mind to go see HBP on opening weekend now, because of this, but Im still pretty angry with WB for delaying HBP... Ill go ask my friends who are going with me to see HBP whether we should go the day it comes out or not. Oh, and FF_Voldemort: Im glad it was James Bond, at least, and not something stupid... Yes, it would be humiliating if High School Musical 3 broke Goblet of Fires record!

To all those guys not going to see HBP on its opening weekend, its seems kind of an own goal. You want HBP to beat the records, and do better than movies like HSM3 and QoSolace, yet you wont go and see the film because WB moved it back to achieve just this! I want Potter to do as well as it can and beat all the records and it has a better chance of doing it in the summer. Besides, bad as it is now, in july well get to see the film instead of having seen it 6 months before. Itll help keep the fandom going for as long as possible and well have something to look forward to before 2010!

Not to be mean or anything (i am a big potter fan)
but I really dont see HBP breaking any records. The reason I think this is because OotP was such a disaster. The story of OotP was completely butchered, the characters were completely OOC. I have no faith for HBP because I felt Yates and the script-writer and certain actors ruined OotP, and Im very annoyed that he is leaving out Bill and Fleur (a very big part of the story because of the engagement and because Bill gets attacked by Greyback at the end) and they are also leaving out the Lupin and Tonks forbidden romance drama. I dont think im the only one who feels this way. I think people will still see HBP, but I dont think it will break any records at all. The books are finished and I think some people are losing interest because of the bad acting and butchered story in the movies.
I plan on seeing Twilight the minute its releasd and i hope it breaks all records becuase the actors rock and the script is extremely true to the book. Sorry if i sound like a traitor, but from a story,character and acting point of view, OotP was really really bad! There was absolutley no character development, the characters were completely OOC and the whole film just felt totally rushed. It went from start to finish with no middle. I actually litterally cried tears when i heard Yates was going to direct Deathly Hallows, i wanted Tim Burton or Alfonso Cuaran so badly!!! They would have done such justice to DH.

ok. to each their own. next I have a message for kerrman2004. How many times have you seen OOTP? Because initially my reaction was very similar to yours........it was way too fast, no character development......etc. But since it came out Ive seen it a dozen times and quite honestly I like it better and better each time I see it. It doesnt seem any where near as fast paced now as it did when I saw it in theaters and as for character development I think there was some but its just hard to pick out. Anyways I think we should all keep in mind that the movies as well as the books are a SERIES and thus character development happens across the series and therefore may not be as noticeable in just one segment. Oh, plz dont yip at the director and say yates is horrible because honestly the movie was actually quite decent and Id like to see you try to condense an 870 page novel into a decent movie......also HBP looks excellent so stop moping and be optimistic.

Awww.... well, I suppose it was bound to happen sometime. I dont mind Bond movies with Daniel Craig, but some of the others (like Die Another Day) just plain suck. I still like HP better, though. OotP wasnt my favorite book, so I certainly wouldnt expect it to be my favorite movie, but Im much more optimistic about HBP. Im also really excited to see Twilight *sighs dreamily, thinking about Edward Cullen, then suddenly realizes that this is one of the most disjointed posts that I have ever made*

Solace is a movie so naturally it is bound to be a better film, even though Im surprised it broke that record and I feel sorry for all HP fans, and me. But well still love the movies and ...we still hold a bunch of records so stop nagging because we could also break a few more... : )
