Dan Radcliffe invites Obama's daughters to Potter set
Dan Radcliffe invites Obama's daughters to Potter set In a lengthy new interview with The Daily Beast, the Harry Potter star discusses his thoughts on America's new President and sends a very special invite to First Daughters Sasha and Malia:

I’d like to take this opportunity to issue a public invitation to the Obamas that if their daughters would like a private tour of the Harry Potter set, I would be honored to be their personal tour guide.

Aww! That's sweet! I wish I were them.

Posted by miraa302 Jan 26th 2009

those girls are the luckiest girls in the world!

Posted by PeaceHappinessArt Jan 26th 2009

Very interesting article, it was enjoyable to read. That's really neat that he offered to personally give the Obamas a tour! I wonder if they'll take him up on it...

Posted by quidditchplayer Jan 26th 2009

What a fantastic interview! I really enjoyed reading it. And it's very nice not only to invite them but to offer to be the guide!

Posted by blastedgoose Jan 26th 2009

i just read the interview and wow he sounds really smart! or at least, very well-trained on what to say to sound smart! you hardly hear zac efron or jesse mcartney(sp?) making comments and dropping names and theories like that in interviews. no offense to the two, i love zac efron :-)

WOW! DAN RADCLIFFE'S THE MAN!!! IT'S GREAT THAT WE HAVE A PRESIDENTIAL FAMILY THAT LOVES AND EMBRACES HARRY POTTER... UNLIKE THE DIRTY BUSHES, LOL! AND I KNOW THAT EVERYONE IN THE POTTER FRANCHINSE ARE HAPPY THAT AMERICANS MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE IN VOTING FOR OBAMA! I MEAN DAN NEVER CARED TO INVITE BUSH FAMILY ON POTTER TOUR!! HE'S A NICE GUY... AND IT'S GONNA BE AN EXCITING 4 YEARS OF POTTER AND OBAMA!

Posted by ginmo Jan 26th 2009

ok... personally, I think that's bull. Sasha and Malia didn't do anything special or different than any other 10 or 7 year old kid out there. It's just because they're related to the new President... That's like inviting Paris Hilton because her parents are rich from hotels. I feel sorry for the little kids who are actually really big fans of HP and will never get that oppurtunity just because they are normal people and not related to someone famous. And no.. I'm not jealous in the slightest so don't even say that. I just think it's wrong to give them all these oppurtunities just because of who they're related to.

Posted by MagdaleneRose Jan 26th 2009

wow.

Posted by Erfa Jan 26th 2009

Wow, looks like they have some convincing to at the dinner table in the White House. :-)

Posted by Collx3sHP Jan 26th 2009

I agree with you, ginmo 9.

Posted by MUHAHAHA Jan 26th 2009

I AM MORE INTERESTED IN "Dan goes on to discuss working with homosexuals in stage plays, co-star Robert Pattinson's success with Twilight" WHAT??

Posted by phoenixknighter Jan 26th 2009

I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU AT ALL ginmo ..WHO CARES if their father is the President... SCREW THAT! You think Dan Radcliffe INVITED the Bush Daughters?? NO! You know why? CUz he DOESN"T LIKE the Bush Family...No One does, lol. But alot of the people in the Potter franchise Love the Obama family and happy that America has made the right choice... So Dan Radcliffe is being a gentleman inviting them.. And lemme ask you this... Which Presidential family other than the Obamas actually liked Harry Potter??? NONE! Obama is the first... so that's a good reputation booster for Potter..

Posted by ginmo Jan 26th 2009

phoenixknighter- lol... you still didn't convince me other wise. yeah, they like harry potter... but they're invited because of who they're related to. Nothing anyone says will change that.. and yeah, OBAMA did something great. They didn't. They probably don't even really understand what the hell is going on because they're too young. I still feel sorry for the other 10 and 7 year olds...

Posted by phoenixknighter Jan 26th 2009

well yeah whatever... i can't speak for the 7 or 10 year olds, cuz when i was their age, i wasn't into Harry Potter much... that was when HP was still new.. I read my FIRST HP book when i was 10 in 1999, wasn't until 2001 when i became a total Fan!

Posted by Lyra_Asya Jan 26th 2009

Yah ginmo I agree. I don't think he was trying to be mean, on the contrary but that's still not very fair. Like you said, I'm not jealous either, but that's not fair for him to do that... it's fair if there was a contest or something, but everyone's equal, so some should not be privileged, no matter how much we love/hate the leaders.

Posted by quidditchplayer Jan 26th 2009

ginmo , and what's the problem with that? They are lucky girls, yes, so what? There is nothing wrong with that. Are you so frustrated you cann't just be happy for them? People admire their father so they like to thank him in this way, doing nice things for his children. There is nothing worng with that. But you are quite wrong about several things. Normal kids can visit the sets too. Many fans visit the sets every year. And a lot of famous people visit the sets with their children too, so why wouldn't these girls too? And the comparison you made with Paris Hilton is ridiculous, no-one have invited her, so that prove it's not about having a famous father, it's about being a nice family.

Posted by HarryDear Jan 26th 2009

I agree with you, ginmo... Sadly, the more famous you are in this world, the more you are given (be it opportunities or merchandise). Socieity is totally centered on celebrity. Now don't get me wrong, I really like and admire the Obama family... But why should Sasha and Malia have the Jonas Bros. hiding in a cupboard at the white house during a scavenger hunt, or be invited to tour the Potter set with none other Dan Radcliffe himself? Aside from that, this interview with Dan is amazing... The guy is totally brilliant! :o)

Posted by Alanna Jan 26th 2009

I can't decide if I'm more jealous of Dan or of the Obamas!

Posted by nearly_headless_nick Jan 26th 2009

Hey people, what are you talking about? You don't need to be famous to visit the HP sets. I'm not famous and I've visited Leavesden studios 2 years ago with my school. They organize tours and things like that. So you all should inform yourselves better before talking... lol

Posted by superfish31 Jan 26th 2009

ginmo, you said what was going through my head as I read this.

Posted by crucio316 Jan 26th 2009

I think it's very nice of Dan to offer such a great treat. However I think that there are so many more devoted and deserving fans of Harry Potter than ther daughters of the president. There are kids out there that read all the books go to all the events and would love nothing more than to go to the set and see everything from the wizarding world. Yet this wonderful offer is given to fans who are just famous not exactly deserving.

Posted by hp_rox_my_sox15 Jan 26th 2009

GINMO, shut up. The girls deserve a break. Can you imagine how much stuff they have to deal with, with their dad being president and all that? I think they deserve that trip to the harry potter set. Sure, there are other kids who deserve it too, but guess what? life's not fair! =] I think the real reason you dont like them is because they got to meet the jonas brothers! ;-) (jk, i dont like the jonas bros, at all)

Posted by tiassa Jan 26th 2009

Dan can do what he wants. I think it's fair that he can do what he wants. You can't expect him to hear about everybody just like you can't expect that the girls won't be offered more then you are. you can't do anything about it. deal with it.

Posted by nyrin Jan 26th 2009

HA. All the people are talking about how deserving or undeserving they are. For those who think there are kids who are more deserving, I'll ask you this: do you know PERSONALLY how much the Obama kids love the books? I mean, have you talked to them/researched them and measured exactly how great their love for HP is? Yeah, I thought not. By the way, you can't measure a person's devotion to the books based on how many conventions or events they've been too (which is again, information you probably don't know). I LOVE the books and I just haven't been ABLE to go to any events for an array of reasons, besides midnight release parties at my local bookstore. So how can you say that some random hypothetical kid who's flown to London with his parents to go see a live Mugglecast show or gotten his parents to drive him across country to go to a convention is more of a fan then someone like me whose never done any of those things, but still loves Harry Potter like no other book?Basically, you DONT know how deserving or undeserving they are so stfu.

Posted by sandralynn88 Jan 26th 2009

I think that it is great that he offered for the Obama girls to get a tour of the set, they should definitely take him up on his offer, it would be a great experience for any hp fan. Whats with all the hate from people on here about Bush, get over it he kept the US safe for eight years, and that was no easy feat. I know alot of people dont agree with him on most issues, but you are being completely ridiculous and close minded by saying noone likes the Bushs. I happen to be a big hp fan, but also a conservative, and I do respect President Bush, however I also respect President Obama, I may not have voted for him and I couldnt disagree more with some of his stances but he is now my President and I hope and pray for him to be successful.

Posted by nyrin Jan 26th 2009

oops my mistake: I meant "For those who think there are kids who are UNdeserving" as in DO NOT deserve this treat. My last comment was definitely in favour of the girls getting to go to the set.

Posted by Scooby Jan 26th 2009

Dan's half Northern Irish? Awesome, I never knew. I'm Northern Irish! Apparently Obama is a Harry Potter fan which is way cool.

Posted by nyrin Jan 26th 2009

oops double mistake...omg. the original comment I made is actually correct. ignore the second comment I made ;_____;

Posted by scarhead12 Jan 26th 2009

First phoenixknighter.. if u live in america, u should never, no matter your political views, insult a president of ur country. Bush protected america from the terriosts. and not all americans wanted obama. i for one did not. but i am happy for the obama girls, although their father was not the best choice of our country.

Posted by MUHAHAHA Jan 26th 2009

wow this thing is turning political by seconds.

Posted by HP_and_me Jan 26th 2009

Haha, I had to laugh when I read this:p This is like asking Obama to become his best friend or something. Having some kind of contact with Barack Obama is pretty much one of the best things you can have these days, I suppose what Daniel reeeally wants is taking over the world!

Posted by TonksTheTiger Jan 26th 2009

That's awesome! And lol, stop trying to make this into a political thing. I mean, seriously. Just be happy for them. :]

Posted by hp_rox_my_sox15 Jan 26th 2009

i dont think anyone actually read the interview...

Posted by Lunai Jan 26th 2009

Hmm, well, I'm not going to be a spoil-sport for the girls, that's great for them. I think it's sweet of Dan to invite them, I really hope there's no catch like a lot of you are suggesting... I am extremely jealous of them now, I won't lie!! They've been getting a lot of attention lately, I really do feel bad for them, I wouldn't want to look back on that later in life if it were me, I don't think... all that exposure. Ick. However, I'm related to President Lincoln, do I get invited?! Eisenhower, too, I think!! ;)

Posted by Twin_of_Ron Jan 26th 2009

Hmm ,let's get back to Harry Potter shall we ? They get to go if they want . lucky them :)

Posted by a3e1o1 Jan 26th 2009

Obama + Harry Potter = Heaven?? Everyone should stop complaining. You're just jealous.

Posted by _Kettleburn_ Jan 26th 2009

Are you kidding me right now????? His kids aren't the leaders of the Free World- Obama is. And I seriously doubt he would appreciate visiting the set when he has a political mess on his plate.

Posted by Danathepotionsmaster Jan 26th 2009

Ummm, they're huge fans of the books so I think they deserve to go just as much as any of us and yea they probably got to go because their dad is the President. So what? You all have sour grapes just cause you can't go. What does it say about you that you're jealous of a ten and seven year old? grow up.

Posted by tonks_394 Jan 26th 2009

When did this turn into a political debate? Bush was President, now he's not. Obama was elected President fair and square. Nothing you can do about either one so let's move on.

Posted by i_eat_death_eaters Jan 26th 2009

ugh. im jealous and as much as i love Obama and think he will be a great president, he and his whole family is too much of a circus, being paraded around all the time

Posted by hpintwense06 Jan 26th 2009

Awwww!!!! That's so nice of him! Dan is a great guy. :]

Posted by Twin_of_Ron Jan 26th 2009

Guys, don't worry about it . Sure they are getting it because their famous , but the get to see the HARRY POTTER SET! Who would pass up that?

Posted by jedi_anegram Jan 26th 2009

That was a great interview! He has really matured and I like how he says he's got two personas, which I know a lot of actors and musicians have.

Posted by krazykobra29 Jan 26th 2009

they are lucky they are getting invited!!

Posted by HPBESTEVER_clau_pink Jan 26th 2009

That's sooo cool!!! omg i've heard they're huge fanss of the books!! :D

Posted by iwantorlando05 Jan 26th 2009

BRILLIANT INTERVIEW!!! I love him! He's sooo intelligent all the HP actors are...but Dan gives the BEST interviews. I'm sooo jealous that he invited the Obama girls to the HP set...NO FAIR!!! I think it's very important for Dan to know that I'm the newly adopted daughter of President Obama...so that invitation also includes ME!!!! Anyways...that stuff he said about Robert Pattinson was hilarious...I personally would choose DANIEL EVERYTIME!!!! He's WAY SEXIER!!

Posted by emma_sophia Jan 26th 2009

okay, I know this is totally off topic, but scarhead12, we live in America, and we have freedom of speech and I can insult whomever I want. I think that everyone should have certain level of respect for their leader but I can criticize the Bush Administration's policies all I want, and if I think they're doing a sucky job, I will.

Posted by tazo Jan 26th 2009

SON OF A BIACTH!!! THATS SO NT FAIRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! !

Posted by Lyra_Asya Jan 26th 2009

I feel bad for Sasha and Malia because it teaches them that in life as long as you've got someone famous for you, you can do anything. Which, true as it might be, is not usually a lesson one wants to teach to their young children. Obama is awesome and I wish more people would consider his unique background and experiences rather than his supposed "race". And by the way terrorism is a perspective so everyone needs to stop jumping down each other's throats.
