The Press Association is reporting this evening that a stunt double for Daniel Radcliffe was injured while on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:
The 25 year old was performing an aerial sequence when he fell to the ground following an explosion which was part of the stunt, the Daily Mirror reported.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed a man in his 20s had been injured on set.
He said: "Paramedics were called to Leavesden Studios after a man in his 20s sustained a significant back injury. He was stabilised at the scene and taken to Watford General Hospital."
The Mirror has a bit more information, adding that the stuntman said he could not feel his legs after falling. A rep from Leavesden Studios, where the Potter films are shot, also confirms the accident.
Our thoughts are with the stuntman and his family and we hope he makes a full recovery. We'll update you when we hear more.

Ah thats quite unfortunate for the stuntman... I hope he makes a full recovery.

Oh noez!
I hope the guy is okay.
I forgot that DH filming started this week. An accident in the first few days already for Deathly Hallows. I hope the film is not jinxed. ^^; The crew better not be under some last-potter movie curse. XD
Get well soon.

wow hope the guys alright...does sound like a sweet stunt though
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 20:46:48
I hope it wasnt a permanent spinal injury....Those are the worst.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 20:54:14
Gosh, the scene better be worth it! :O I hope its not permanent.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 21:03:11
OH NOES! D: Theyre filming DH already? WHY MUST THE SERIES END SO SOON?!
Also, theyre probably filming The Seven Potters sequence.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 21:05:04
Thats terrible! Only a few days into shooting, and already there is an accident. I hope the stuntman is all right, and that any injury he sustained is not permanent.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 21:20:02
I hope he makes a quick recovery, and doesnt do any crazy stuff like that for a while
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 21:28:20
Thats bad news.... I really hope that hes not paralized.
I think that the scene that theyre practicing is the seven potters scene. Its good to here that its action packed. ...

I really, really hope hell be ok. That sounds serious if he couldnt feel his legs, I hope he makes a full recovery, my thoughts are out to him and his family.
Before this gets completely out of hand, I would also like to say that this could turn out very, very bad and it is wrong to sit here and try and figure out what scene he was filming and since someone got hurt, it must be really sweet. Thats completely inappropriate, there is a possibility this man may never walk again. Please think before you say something like that.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 21:53:23
THANK ypu Lunai for saying that... seriously??? Someone could have just gotten paralyzed, and people are already thinking... "o... i hope it was a good scene... musta been if he almsot died doing it..."
Anyways... i hope that he makes a full speedy recovery.

Stunt work is so very dangerous, no matter how many precautions are taken and rehearsals there are. My prayers are with him. I hope that his injuries are not serious or permanent! And that he recovers quickly!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 22:10:25
I hope the stunt man is ok. I find it weird that we do not know the name of this "man" I mean if was Danial Radcliff people would be OMG i am so worried for him but for the stunt double it not the same thing.... I think we should know who this man is I wish him the best and hope that god is with him
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-28 22:11:32
hope the guy is going to be okay. Sometimes people cant feel their legs etc , in an accident like this, but its because of swelling in the area. I"m hoping this is the case for this guy, too, and he recovers fully.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 00:25:47
Gee...i hope hes okay. I didnt know they had already started filming...why would they need stuntmen if the actors arent even back yet? But i just really hope he gets better.

While I agree with what Lunai stated earlier, when I first saw this post, the only reason I thought "what scene was that then?" wasnt for my own personal curiosity for the movie or action sequence, but what could lead to such a serious injury. Its obvious what the scene was *coughSevenPotterscough* and THAT is what makes it all the more important because the aerial stunts involved with that scene would be waaay more serious than a prat-fall in the halls of Hogwarts. I truly hope this courageous person recovers and gets back to his life without extensive damage.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 01:11:16
Thats right...theyve started the filming already..wow..
I hope the stuntman makes a full recovery, hes a brave Gryffindor!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 01:37:19
Oh, I hope hes OK and makes a full recovery. The "Oooh, this scene must be good" attitude isnt very nice, but I know my fellow MuggleNetters mean well.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 04:51:06
making a harry potter movie can be dangerous then.
the thing i dont get is that "aerial scene" is something we see in potter films since the first potter film, i suppose not all quidditch scenes are shot on the ground, so its odd that this kind of accident happen when they are used to that kind of things for ages.
by the way, its rare to see someone of the harry potter set dies, hope it will happen no more.
maybe they will rearrange the scene to prevent that kind of accident.

Oh, I hope hes okay. But LOL.
I mean, theyre less then a week in and theyre already having disaters. This cannot be a good sign. X)

Poor guy... Wish him a full recovery! Yeah, I agree Glitterfrost. I remember Quantum of Solace in which there was even a death during the extreme-action stunt scenes.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 06:10:31
Poor dude.......hope he doesnt have a full permanant spinal injury!
Our thoughts are with him during his full recovery!!!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 07:43:13
Oh boy, thats one of my worst fears, to get a permanent spinal injury... I actually just shuddered for this guy. I really, really hope everything works out for him, and that they make the stunt less dangerous to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. Thats really scary.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 08:07:19
I hope hes alright. Explosions in DH? COOL
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 08:08:50
awww hope the dude doesnt have permanent injuries. :( not many ppl can say they got hurt while shooting an explosion/aerial sequence for the last Harry Potter though. :D thatll be something to tell his kids...
|

I hope this guy has a full recovery.
explosions in Deathly Hallows, sweet!!!!!!!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 10:26:43
wow, definately not the DH news I was expecting...:O Hope he gets better and nothing permanent happens...and...I hope what ever stunt he injured himself on, was totally worth it 0:-I
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 10:57:14
Come on, people.
This isnt the time to be saying: "explosions in DH? Cool! Awesome!!" whatever- this guy could be paralysed. Like Lunai said, it isnt appropriate, and I think youre being very insensitive.
When I heard this on the news this morning, I got really worried, especially with tabloids over here like Daily Mirror proclaiming: "POTTER STAR GETS BLOWN UP" I mean, really? Way to make things worse for the guy...
I also agree with Mmekocat. Sadly, celebrities always get more recognition than the little guy, thats just how life goes.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 11:18:13
I really hope that hes doing well. My thoughts best wishes go out to him and his family. Get well soon!
|

i hope hes fine. wish him for a full recovery. on a diff. note, theyre doing stunts already for DH?!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 11:57:41
Get well, soon! I hope he makes a full recovery
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 12:29:23
I agree with Lunai... I cant believe people are saying, "explosions, sweet!" Thats horrible, the boy could have a permanent spinal injury. If he cant feel his legs, thats very serious. No one would react this way if it were Dan that had been injured. I hope he is able to make a full recovery.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 13:45:31
Thats what just sickens me. I was on the Leaky comments for this, and people were saying Its a good thing Dan doesnt do his own stunts - as if Dan is any more important that someone else when it comes to this! Its disgusting.
Have we heard anything new on his condition?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 14:28:51
Thats horrible. I really hope he doesnt have a permanent injury.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 14:36:18
ohmygosh. Please make a full recovery! =/
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 15:33:57
Hes paralysed. It was just on the news update on channel five here in the U.K. My thoughts are with him and his family during this very emotinal time.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 15:34:05
I hope that he fall has not harmed him too badly, that is horrible!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 15:46:35
what? oO @ Lunai...really? So they think that if Dan got paralysed it would be a catastrophe, but just because this guy is his double it doesnt matter? People seriously need to stop hogging after celebrities, its pathetic. Its not like Dan knows any of them personally or anything, geeze >_>
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 15:52:25
thats crazy! I hope it wont delay filming though.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 16:41:04
Woah!
I hope hes okay and makes a quick recovery.
Poor guy...
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 16:43:39
I really hope he his pulling together ok. He, and of course the rest of the crew, know all the risks. Its just unfortunate that someone made a mistake (even I tiny one) and it resulted in his injury.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 16:56:14
Sadly the latest reports are that the poor man has been paralyzed . He could not feel his legs but now it has been said over here on the UK news that he is reportedly paralyzed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family today at this bitterly sad time.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 17:08:23
Am watching 11PM news in London right now and they said he may be paralysed from the waist down... also that none of the main cast were present!! Hope he gets better..So young
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 17:31:36
paralyzed? oh dang that really does suck horribly. God I hope its just a false alarm.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 17:31:50
I feel sad they call him stunt man and he doesnt receive full recognition. at least give us his name or something. Makes me feel that Wb feels like he isnt that important to mention the name. ehhh . . . well hes not dan radcliffe, but ya know. . . anyways, my first thought (after the previous thought) was, "What scene is that violent?!" But I think its the hogwarts scene, where everyone drops from the carts and explosions from the dragon and all that! I hope so. That means that its violent! BUAHAHA yay! And I feel sad for that stunt man. It might be an injury for life. :[ especially since its as important as the back.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 17:47:29
i hope he gets better! he is just as important as anybody else!

|

How awful :[ Hope he recovers.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-29 23:41:41
i hope he makes a full recovery and just so you know the reason they have not released his name is because they want the family to know first. They dont want the family to find out on the news.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-30 06:22:43
thats too bad i hoope he is alright, and that better be one hell of a scene!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-01-31 14:38:08
I just want to say that Ive been looking up David Holmes (the stunt double) and Ive found a mention of him from when Daniel Radcliffe was 13 and he says, "I do gym with my stunt double (David Holmes). He has been getting me to do gymnastics, body weights, press-ups and chin-ups." I just wanted to point out that obviously Daniel has known him for a long time so this must be hard for him too since they seem to have had a good relationship.
