Our friends at MillionairePlayboy.com were at the 2009 New York City toy fair we told you about yesterday. While there, they had a chance to speak with a rep from LEGO who revealed no Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince toys are in the works: My sad news to report that there are no plans on producing any new Harry Potter sets. With the films getting darker, it has become very hard to produce kid-friendly sets. MillionairePlayboy also has up a couple galleries that show some Potter merchandise on display at the Toy Fair: Tonner products featuring Dobby, Kreacher, Snape, Bellatrix, Luna, and Harry | NECA products featuring various action figures and toys.

While I dont usually get lego Harry, that still kind of sucks. I remember the good old Lego days... darn pieces would always get stuck together.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 16:08:34

Aww thats too bad. :(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 16:14:24

If they say the movies are getting darker than why did the next movie get a PG rating? Although I dont buy the legos its sad they arent making it for all the people who collect them.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 16:16:10

And btw, MPAA doesnt think HBP is darker....lol.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 16:47:53

Hmm...thats too bad. But yeah, I guess the playsets wouldnt make the best things to give to small kids. I mean, what aspects of the movie would they portray? Would they make a cave set, with dead inferi action figures that crawled onto it? Or how about an astronomy tower with a button that would throw the Dumbledore figure off? (No offense to Dumbledore. Still love the guy.) And dont get me started on the Ron and Lavender Legos... On a lighter note, the Tonner dolls are beautiful. I really want a Doby one!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 16:52:15

Lolz it isnt darker, its PG!

Watch this to support my friend please :) http://www.youtube. com/watch?v=3SA8WF1xAq0&f eature=PlayList&p=00A0999 B2B906B5B&index=0 Than ks! On a other note, bellas toy looks...different but I like the dobby one.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 16:58:59

I really find their response hard to believe. They probably arent making them, because of money. They probably dont think it will make enough or something... I guess that means no DH legos either?

I dont understand why LEGO didnt just do a Quidditch set. They could have also done a Burrow or Fred and Georges shop, or even a mostly figure-only set like Star Wars does every once in a while. Potter LEGO sets do very well amongst kids and collectors (just check E-bay), so no having no Potter sets for HBP is confusing. My son and his LEGO maniac friends arent going to like this news. Hopefully when the movies are all out LEGO will create sets for Potter stuff they missed and just not link them to specific movies...

I agree with surferrosmerta a quidditch set would be cool. No toys :[ that makes me sad. I wish they would come out with more. It seems like no one likes this one because it was pushed back

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 17:17:30

Well PG is the new PG-13, PG-13 is R, R is NC-17, and NC-17 is, well you know.. how can a PG rated HP movie be soo dark? Something doesnt fit right here

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 18:55:35

1. I agree about not making more Legos. Ive always thought that it was weird for a company mainly marketed towards kids would make merch for a PG-13 movie. 2. Which brings me to why the heck is it a PG movie? No way am I taking my 7 yr old sister to HBP!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-16 20:02:36

I dont often overreact like this, but EPIC FAIL lego, EPIC FAIL. I was really hoping theyd make a lego set of the cave. That would have been so cool. A Quidditch set would have been easy, and kid friendly. If theyre ok with devilish horses, I cant see why some inferi would be out of the question. It was disappointing to hear that there was only going to be one set for the fifth movie, and a large and expensive one at that. Which I never did ever see that thing in a store. Having said that, I will get over it in the end, itll just take a little while.

Ravenxl7, i looked for that set everywhere and i couldnt find it either!! it was ridiculous! ive been collecting these sets as well so that sucked. and "very hard to produce kid-friendly sets"?? NO WAY the only reason theyre not making anymore is because not many people buy Harry Potter lego anymore. its not as profitable so its not worth their time and effort. they are just being money-hungry capitalists thats all. Epic fail indeed:(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 02:32:05

yea man..to the kids out there: HAHA..tts just too bad. Hey our generation didn hv HP lego kays..so dun fret!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 09:26:28

well that just sucks like a bipolar leech. :( dangit, epic fail LEGO!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 10:49:51

Ummmm why is everyone complaining? Im sorry but Ive never played with the toys. And they are right, these movies are pretty dark for kids merchandising. They should stop the coloring and sticker books as well! I mean, what are they supposed to color, Malfoy in a pool of his own blood? And dont judge the movie just because its PG. Raters have different opinions and whats considered too much for kids changes

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 11:07:49

i am dissappointed that there will be no more lego sets, as me and a mate between us have them all and i can think of a few i would like there to be, such as grimmauld place, the ministry of magic, that would be awesome, the burrow, as someone said above a proper quidditch one, st mungoes would be another, there are loads they could come up with, can anybody else come up with other ideas. adults enjoy lego aswell as children

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 11:20:12

thats funny how WE Potter fans get so ANGRY when someone says HP i ONLY for KIDS, YET we feel bad they stopped making the legos, lol

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 16:47:26

the films are getting DARKER AND DARKER EVERY MUVi..yet its RATEG PG---NOW IS WHEN KIDS WANT THE TOYS!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 18:31:58

My husband works for LEGO and they stopped making HP sets some time ago. I cant believe they said "because its darker" - LAME. The real reason is money. Their top money makers are Star Wars and Bionicle for the age group that would buy HP sets. Theyve decided not to invest in creating new HP models because like most toy companies, theyve lost a ton of money in the past few years as electronic toys take over the market.

i can honestly say that i could care less about harry potter Legos

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-17 21:11:16

me too alexxx... i didnt even know they still make legos for HP

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-18 13:08:29

Aw darker? whats so dark about lego snape cursing lego dumbledore off a rooftop to his death? darn, or dead hand lego dumbledore....

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-18 18:47:28

The film is PG, it isnt getting darker. There are countless sets LEGO could produce relating to the film. They made sets for The Dark Knight, which was MUCH more darker than any Potter film ever will be.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-02-20 10:20:58

Lets face it: we just didnt buy enough HP Lego for Lego to make a profit. A pity for us collectors. The Order of the Phoenix set was only produced in small numbers and could be ordered at the time from Lego.com. And who said Lego is just for kids?!!!!
