Early last month we told you that the Harry Potter series had been nominated in the "Favorite Book" category at Nickelodeon's 2009 Kids Choice Awards.
As of today, voting has started at this link. The Kids Choice Awards air on Saturday, March 28th at 8 PM EST. Thanks to Renee for the tip!

Twilight does suck, its nothing but teen fanservice that makes girls and boys feel all gooey inside due to the overly dramatic corny romance. With that said, my bookshelf doesnt only consist of Harry Potter books, I can assure you.

I am not a one series person(I read Harry Potter, Shakespeare plays, Biographies, and so many other books its ridiculous). I just think that J.K. Rowlings writing is amazing and I never get bored with it while with Meyers I could hardly bare reading a chapter at a time. Her writing was just way too repetitive for me. Twilights story wasnt that bad but the writing made it seem ten times worse.

I wanted to skip voting in some categories, but it wouldnt let me (there ARE other TV shows I think are best, besides their choices). No write in votes. Hmmm... And for what its worth, Im reading the first Twilight book now, and its just not as well written as any of the HP books. So much dialogue and teen romance. I dont know if I can stand to finish reading it.

hpninjaskills- I agree with you. I used to be a twilight fan until people started comparing it to HP like they were so similar or something or like Meyer even had a competition with Rowling... It really angered me because HP is in its own league and to bring it down to Twilights level?? JK Rowling put her life into this series and Meyer just... dreamt it and then began poorly writing it. It just seems wrong to compare the two. It defintely does not deserve the hype it has gotten and Im just angry that it has become "The new Harry Potter" UGH! Ironically, the media and the fans are what made me not a fan anymore. I know this has happened to many other people. Just because Harry Potter has ended, does not mean it needs to be replaced. Its still the best series. :)

Dont forget, its the reason HBP was delayed, since Warner Brothers "already made enough money" with Dark Knight and decided they could push HBP back. So DONT support that. I still refuse to see that movie until after I have seen Harry Potter 6.

I guess i should take that back. The Dark Knight is better than the First Four Harry Potter movies! I feel what SHOULD make a movie STAND OUT is that it should be controversial in a good way. controversial enough to raise questions, and get you thinking and enjoy it. The Dark Knight did just that, if you look at it one way it embraces terrorism. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the best Potter movie to me because the Director Yates made a political film out of that. Some parents were uncomfortable at the Rebellion is Necessary themes throughout the movie and i got a kick outta that! Yates really captured that element and made it into a contemporary horror/thriller that embraced the tone of the book. Another for me is V for Vendetta, which had anarchy written all over it! It offended a lot of people, but its message was very poignant and palpable. Those are my 3 FAVORITE Movies ! Dark Knight, V for Vendetta, and Harry Potter 5 (so far;). Because i believe a film should be MORE than just a fun action movie, it should be an IDEA, which is an art.
Anyway Adeline, I feel for Rihanna too, i just meant that i didnt appreciate how some ppl here would not vote for Chris Brown because of his private issue. i wont even get into that because Mugglenet is not the place for that.

Some parts in it were better (like the beginning and the end) But overall it ALMOST overdid the long and boring-at-times book, which is a real achievement for any director adapting a book into a film. And theres a big DIFFERENCE between being a fan of something and knowing that a movie is better than the others. I love OOTP, but im not an idiot to know that The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King was a masterpiece and better than HP5.

Guys, please stop hating on The Dark Knight, Chris and Rihanna and the Harry Potter movies. There are better things to hate...such as the Twilight series. I read the books, and almost liked them. Almost because its almost good writing (reads like fanfiction), almost has a plot, and because its characters were almost likable. Harry Potter, however, is a great piece of literature. The characters are relatable, it makes one laugh and its central themes hit close to home (5th book=Darfur!).
Yes, these are only the Kid Choice Awards, but that is not the point. The point is showing those that say Twilight is the "new HP" that they are dead wrong and that Twilight is more the new Hannah Montana than anything else. I mean no disrespect to Stephenie Meyer. Okay, shes not the best writer in the world, but Im sure that many of us here cant write well either. But there is no way on earth that there will ever be a new Harry Potter.
As to the other categories, vote whatever. Its only the KCAs. We might want to consider petitioning the Teen and Peoples Choice Awards to have HP as one of their categories.
Plus, have any of you read the blurb about HP?

Take my advice: If Harry Potter is soo GREAT to us (Which it IS) then why MUST we try to prove it by voting several times? Ok ill come clean and admit, After DH was knocked off a couple weeks of its run with the new book called "Eclipse" I was like "whoa, i gotta read this." I was THIS CLOSE from reading Twilight, whether i woulda liked it or not, i wouldve read it. But all the fans and the hatred and comparing to HP just turned me OFF extremely. Well I dont agree with the way Twilightpotter was saying it but I think they have every right to come on here and just ask for respect from the HP fans... now if they started on a long-winded comment all detailing about exactly why Twilight rocks then I would totally agree with you :P And after asking the question I said above (which was actually just directed at phoenixknighter cause ive heard him talk about how horrible twilight fans are all the time... though I guess anyone could answer it) I did go searching for some comments on Twilight sites on the exact same topic this post is on (the Kids choice awards) and saw some really positive stuff toward HP stuff in the comments. Anyways.... I think it just goes to show that you have to form your own opinion of everything because even if you meet some crazy way too obsessive fans, you can still like that series and try it out for yourself. Theres definitely crazy HP fans lol... but I am glad I tried it and I love it! I know I heard all kinds of bad stuff about HP before I read them or knew much about them and I didnt want to try it for a while... but I am so glad I did now.

I understand where your coming from. Ill respect Twilight and its fans as long as they respect us and Harry potter. I did read Twilight once and didnt really like it, Im not into the whole big romance thing, but like you said everyone has their opinions.
