Broadway.com is reporting today that the Tony Award nominee is expected to become a part of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows cast as Bill Weasley: Gleeson would join his father, returning player Brendan Gleeson, who has appeared in the series since the 2005 release Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as popular character Professor Alastor “MadEye” Moody. "I'd been very certain about not wanting to do the acting thing because of my father," the younger Gleeson told Broadway.com in 2006 about his pursuit of acting. "I thought I'd always have the father-son thing of 'He got you the part.'" Thanks to Michael and Natalie for the tip!

I hope this means we will be able to see Bill and Fleurs wedding! Not that I would have minded seeing Tonks and Remus wedding, but Bill and Fleurs was bigger. And a lot happened at the wedding. Like the Death Eaters attack.

yay!!! a bill weasley!! now we need charlie!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 10:05:14

old news....saw this like 2 days ago....along with a confirmation of Mundungus Fletcher being cast for Deathly Hallows (go to Leaky and they have photo)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 10:08:34

YES!! Maybe the producers are figuring to stick closer to the book on these two movies!?! Breaking the book into two movies MAY allow them to re-insert other important characters that have been dropped. Do you think we will see Mundungus? Or Aberforth?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 10:14:08

Dear tbc07, to some of us this is not old news. Its just great news. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 10:36:26

He looks a lot like his Dad I think. I also hope people wont say he got the part because of his Dad. Im guessing he might have to dye his hair a bit more red-head although it is pretty good already. Cant wiat to see the films.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 10:42:41

Incause you forgot or didnt know Bill Weasley was in PoA as a comeo in the Egypt Photo stands next to Mr. Weasley and if you dont believe him up its Richard Fish.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 10:53:00

Great that Bills being included but Im kinda disappointed at the same time... Bill is supposed to be super hot!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 11:09:16

Brilliant choice of actor! I think he looks fantastic to play Bills role. I cant wait to see him when hes scratched up from freaking Greybacks attack on him. Hopefully the Gleesons can put aside their father/son relationship well enough to play their roles, I must admit Im a bit concerned that the inevitable relationship between a father and a son will shop up on screen. I have faith they can put it aside, though.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 11:27:51

What about the Greyback attack? If he

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 11:33:32

*What about the Greyback attack? If he

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 11:47:14

Hm, I dont know.. He looks like he could be quite a good Bill, but not how I pictured him at all.. Not so sure how he would look together with Fleur either..

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 12:05:34

What bout the Greyback attack? If he has just been cast then Im guessing the attack wont be shown. Will they explain the attack in a conversation or just leave Bill scratch free and not bother with it?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 13:13:25

NOOO!!!! I DONT WANT BILL AND FLEUR TO BE IN THIS MOVIE!! PLEASE DONT EXCEPT THEM DAVID YATES! THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO CENTRALIZE THE LUPIN AND TONKS, WHOM WE ALL LOVE SO DEARLY! I hope to God Domhnall Gleeson doesnt get casted, no OFFENSE to him though, i just dont think his character has any USE into the franchise... i mean they gave ARTHUR the mauling.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 13:29:45

Excellent, we get Bill and Mundungus. Now we just need Charlie and Fleur. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 13:57:27

Excellent, we get Bill and Mundungus. Now we just need Charlie and Fleur. :) I agree we need a Charlie, but dont we already have a Fleur?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 13:59:22

Hmmm... I pictured Bill a bit hotter... no offense.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 14:00:38

woots!! one of my news submissions was posted!! 1st time =]

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 14:21:05

Phoenixknighter- Do you mean in the HBP movie theyre going to have Arthur get attacked by Greyback? I didnt know that. Guess Ive just been spoiled. :/ Anyways, Im glad theyre sticking Bill in DH. They dont have to come up with some half-conceived idea to get the Trio out on the run, they can use the wedding like the book does. And then they are already known to the audience when they get to Shell Cottage. Bill isnt a huge character in the franchise, but his presence plays a huge part in DH alone. Plus, Domhnall looks a bit like how I already picture Bill, so I dont have to worry about looks at all on this one.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 14:44:46

I believe EVERY character plays an important role in the books. I sure miss Winky the Drunk elf. Bill and Fleurs wedding should not be cut cuz it triggers the action and initializes the trios adventure... And as of Arthur Weasley being attacked by Greyback? That is the most out of place comment Ive read here. If that actually occurs in HBP I will desist of being a HP movie fan, I do not appreciate the changes theyve made in the movies...Anyway, Tonks doesnt play much in HBP...I think theyve made a good choice having Bill in DH, though I belive there are many more actors to choose. We already have a relative in HBP Hero Fiennes, now this What-His-Name Gleeson? Whats next? Michael Gambons granddaughter?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 14:55:39

Well they better freaking put Bill in DH! Ill be pissed if they dont. He looks like Bill, idk hes got that "wild child" look to him.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 14:57:07

holy crap. when i heard this my heart jumped. theyre doing the wedding! now that gotta cast the blondie!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 14:57:07

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:00:09

i really do hope they have bill and fleur in the movie, anyways he does kind of look like a bill plus i think hes bills age too!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:12:48

WOW! Do you GUYS go to MUGGLENET often or not???? Everything i tell you is from what i read here.. a couple months ago, it was announced that "THE BURROW ATTACK WILL TAKE PLACE, AND ARTHUR WEASLEY WILL GET MAULED." Where were you guys when that was announced??? Anyway i think its Great Arthur is mauled. At first i didnt like the idea, but since Harry has more of an emotional connection with his surrogate dad then with Bill, it will make more sense to have Arthur take the bite than have some redhead whom we dont know

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:21:41

he isnt cute enough to be Bill in my opinion, but then again, the actors dont look like the characters in my mind usually anyway.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:22:18

Awesome!! Im so glad they casted Bil!! Now we just need a Charlie and to recast Fleur and we have a wonderful Weasley family‼ :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:23:35

Thats not what I pictured Bill looking like...Oh well! Hahah.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:34:05

I am so pumped. I figured the Bill/Fleur storyline would be dumped. This makes me happy. I am pleased. Wouldnt that be something if Brendan were playing Arthur?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:36:42

Cool! We got a Weasley!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 15:49:52

sweeeeeet we almost have the whole weasley family! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 16:15:53

This is cool, but phoenixknighter is right! The whole Arthur being swtiched with Bill thing was announced AGES ago! That was one of those posts that had a thousand and one comments. But phoenixknighter made a comment in that post that must have echoed what the producers/directors were thinking: We (as the audience) have a more personal relationship with Arthur. Wed be more upset over Arthur getting hurt than Bill. To people/fans that didnt read the series, Bill would just be some random character getting attacked by Greyback. They wouldnt care. On the other hand, we would care more about Mr. Weasley. And Id rather see a Tonks/Lupin wedding over Bill/Fleur any day. And for those of you getting ready to complain: the Death Eaters can still attack at that wedding. It isnt impossible. I cant wait to see the next 3 movies! Peace!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 16:17:51

He sure looks like he belongs in the Weasley family, but hes not "tough" enough looking. Maybe he will be in the movie. But, I am very glad theyve cast Bill, FINALLY!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 16:50:58

well said Fia! ;)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 16:59:46

haha theirs a kid named brendan gleason at my school! he like a weasley through and through, and a lot like the ron i first imagined, but older (long nose, etc.)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 17:15:06

As far as learning about Arthur getting mauled...if by visiting MuggleNet often you mean refreshing the page every 12 seconds, no. I wish I could, but being in college sort of eats my time. I check a few times a day, but sometimes it slips my mind. If anything, I maybe didnt read/hear it because it was noted to be a spoiler, so I skipped it because I dont need to know everything before the movie comes out. I never doubted your honesty, phoenixknighter. No one needs caps or questioning anyones ability to check a website. It was just new information for me.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 17:21:55

no problem pacifickay.. and im in college too. im just helping everyone to not get a heart attack when they go watch the movie. Theres basically NOTHING to get suprised about watching this film, weve secretly been spoiled along the way.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 17:29:09

AWESOME!! I hope this is true. Broadway.com seems like a reliable source. I guess well know for sure if Clemense Posey comes back...or if they just hire another Fleur. Either way! I cant wait!! I really want to see the 6TH film!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 18:04:41

He doesnt look like my image of Bill in my mind- I always pictured him... cuter. Oh, well. I picture everyone cuter. But Im quite glad they left Bill and Fleurs wedding in! I mean, we dont even see Tonkss and Remuss wedding in the book so why should we see it in the film? also- dont forget to vote for harry potter every day in the childrens award thing they mentioned a few days ago!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 18:28:12

Wow! He looks perfect to play a Weasley!!! This is excitingggg! :]

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 18:33:18

http://broadwayworld.com/ photoops/tonypressday06/W ilmont_Pil92523.jpg chec k this out. He looks more Bill-ish in this picture.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 18:39:16

Even if there is no Fleur, Im glad theres a Bill!!! PLEASE let there be a Bill! And yes please give us a Charlie too!!!! :) Last chance!!!!!!! :(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 19:00:33

darn~~~!!! hes hot!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 19:11:15

oh YES!!! I would have gotten SO mad if they hadnt had a Bill because it would have ruined the whole thing of DH because of the wedding and the whole Shell Cottage thing.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 19:36:42

what a relief! they wont have to cut out/change major events in the story. and i will be sooo happy if they keep the wedding and shell cottage in there, not to mention the seven potters. woo-hoo!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 19:52:32

...it took them long enough. yay!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 20:01:46

I think he looks like a great Bill Weasley. Who played Bill and Charlie in the Egypt photo in PoA? Is Charlie gonna be in DH, too? I hope so! Itd be great to finally see all the Weasleys in more than just a photo!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 20:53:51

I agree, we need to see them as a family and not just waving at us from a picture that we can barely make out.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 21:13:16

He looks pretty much perfect for the role, imo. Heres hoping Charly gets put into the movie too. Would be nice to have a scene with all the Weasleys in it for once. Wont surprise me if they get the girl who played Fleur to reprise her role. Hopefully she does, and they dont have to find a new actress for the part.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 21:41:21

Wow, Moodys son?? Awesome. I think he seems to be a good fit. This rumor and the Mundungus confirmation are making me excted! =D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-10 23:54:01

Thank God Thank God we have Bill in DH I would have been way past pissed if they left Bill out of DH But my favorite part im looking forward to seeing is Dobbys death they better do that and make it right.. They Owe Dobby!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 00:27:07

Im happy that they cast a Bill. It means the wedding scene and Shell Cottage will be the movie.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 01:00:49

I think this is my first ginger crush... hum....

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 01:28:13

Im happy they are actually casting Bill, but honestly, I imagined him to be a super hot bloke. Oh welll... I do hope Fleur will return. AND I wish Viktor Krum would be come again. He WAS in DH.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 02:34:10

ooooh interesting choice hes a lil goodlooking :) LOL

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 04:26:48

yay! Billypoo. Im excited! ;)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 12:00:04

Omg we were supposed to have him, like, 5 years ago when GoF came out! Well, at least they are getting all characters this time. Now they need Charlie,Fleur, and maybe a few more Order members ;)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 12:44:26

I hope that Arthur Weasley being attacked by Greyback is a rumour. The poor man was already jumped by Nagini (can snakes jump?). If he has anymore chunks torn out of him he will begin to look like Madeye.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 13:13:59

The people saying good hes back for the wedding I dont THINK he is .... first because Tonks and Lupin has been placed instead and also because it is probably going to be that he is in the Shell Cottage part of the film ? Looks to me too slim for Bill though ...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 13:20:14

A lot of you seem to be under the impression that just because they cast Bill, it means they are going to put the Bill/Fleur wedding in. There is still a chance they wont. Unless they establish a relationship between Bill and Fleur in the Half Blood Prince movie, having a wedding in Deathly Hallows would be extremely random. Maybe they are just going to have Bill wed some random girl we dont know yet. Or maybe the Burrow will get attacked during Harrys birthday party or something.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 13:29:28

Ah! Im happy theyve finally cast Bill. I was wondering where he went! He looks really suitable for the part, too. :) Also, Ive heard about the announcement where they said Arthur would be attacked by Greyback, rather than Bill. However, that was at least several months ago. Probably even before they released the teaser (though Ill have to check that). Although, now that I think about it, they probably would have finished filming HBP by that point. Hmm... Maybe Arthur gets targetted by Greayback and Bill takes the hit? I mean, if theyre casting Bill now, theyll have a heck of a job having him there and not scarred. Plus, are they going to keep the same woman they cast as Fleur for Goblet of Fire? I hope so, I loved her. Well, in my opinion, whatever they decide to do, I think its with good reason. Ill see all three of the remaining films, no matter what they change/edit/cut/add. I just think the translation of a story from written form to visual is interesting. After all, they are two completely different art forms. :P

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 13:33:58

"Maybe Arthur gets targetted by Greyback and Bill takes the hit?" _< My bad.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 14:51:56

No, Siraya Arthur gets attacked by Greyback in HBP, before we even meet Bill, lol.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 15:04:02

I have never found this with any of the HP cast but my god he looks almost exactly like the Bill in my head!! im shocked lol

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 16:55:27

What about Luna Lovegood fliz??? JK Rowling said shes the ONLY character who looked EXACTLY like the Luna pictured in her head

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-11 18:58:20

Yay! Theres a Bill!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 00:34:33

you know, the more i look at it, he does definetly have the weasley look, resembling the other brothers...on the other hand, i had hoped we would get the cool, posh bill with the ponytail and earring and handsome enought to capture the heart of fleur (yeah, i know, the wedding could still be cut, but why would it have to be now? they can easily bring back a fleur, and the wedding iniatiates key events and pieces of information such as: the deathly hallows symbol, throws dumbledores character into question due to aunt muriel, and who doesnt want to see kingleys patronus and the ensuing chaos? i just think the reception would set a nice light, tone admist the scary, intense, often depressing action and adventure (including death) that is dominant in the plot as a whole...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 00:46:29

HEY GUYS THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL AND TO MUGGLENET!!! BE PREPARED IF MUGGLENET POSTS A SILLY ARTICLE ABOUT THE SUN NEWSPAPER. ITS ABOUT A SECRET SCREENING IN THE USA FOR HBP, AND ITS A LIE.. IT BASICALLY SAYS THAT ALL THE PPL WHO WATCHED IT HATED IT, SAYING ITS TOO SAPPY, TOO MUCH ROMANCE 2 MEMORY SCENES, AND HORRIBLE CLIMAX, ITS JUST TO DISCOURAGE THE MOVIE FROM BEING A HIT. DONT BELIEVE A WORD OF IT. THE SUN HAS LIED MANY TIMES BEFORE, SO WHY SHOULD WE TRUST THEM NOW???

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 09:09:43

I mean in my head not j k rowlings!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 10:42:51

When I first read it, I was thinking he was being cast as Charlie. He does somewhat resemble Rupert and the Phelps which makes him a great choice as a Weasley but he doesnt appear quite as good looking as Bill is said to be. This might not be his best photo.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 12:47:59

He looks like a Weasley to me!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 13:01:21

He sure does look like a Weasley!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 20:24:34

hes HOT

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 21:11:36

HEY EVERYONE! WB Just Confirmed on Hpana and The Leaky that theyve CONFIRMED This guy to play Bill Weasley.. so BE HAPPY :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-12 23:39:23

Excellent! Now wheres Charlie?! =) I wont accept any Weasley being left out haha

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-13 07:47:59

Yay! We might just have the whole set :P

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-13 09:23:06

Hey, hermionenessie, You wrote that you "hoped we would get the cool, posh bill with the ponytail and earring and handsome enought to capture the heart of fleur". Well, this actor seems to be goodlooking enough. Anyway, Fleur seemed to love Bill more for his character than his looks. Besides the actor can grow his hair or wear a wig and an earring is an easy prop to add to his costume(s).

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-15 21:31:43

MyGypsyCat, thats true enough. Especially about Fleur loving Bill despite all of those things. i guess i was just initially disappointed, though i do admit he does look like a weasley and he must be a good actor to have gotten that tony. idk, that was just my initial reaction, that he was different than how id imagined. the make-up and such will surely help though, not to mention the acting.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-03-16 08:42:15

he actually looks like he can be Lupins son if you ask me. He looks like a younger Lupin.
