While making an appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Rhys Ifans stated that he would be starring in the upcoming film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Ifans did not say what part he had been cast for, so let us know in the comments what character you think he would do a good job portraying.
UPDATE: Several reports are suggesting that he will play Xenophilius Lovegood. Please treat this as a rumor until confirmed.

This is exciting - hes a good actor.
Personally, I think hes a little young to be Scrimgeour.
Also, Im not sure if itd make sense to cast him as Xenophilius Lovegood, as Ifans is Welsh and Evanna Lynch is Irish...I have no idea how good he is at accents, of course, but if he cant do a very good Irish accent then itll sound a bit weird, having him as Lunas dad.
Mundungus is a strong possibility, but I also think hed make an interesting Amycus Carrow.

Bill Weasley? Young Grindlewald? These are characters that are supposed to be attractive! In what universe is Ifans attractive?! Mundungus has already been cast (Andy Linden). My vote goes to Xenophilius Lovegood. I could see him as a death eater as well but I dont that he would be a very scary villain (though I guess Amycus isnt exactly terrifying).

Brilliant, Rhys Ifans is one of my favorite actors! Somebody said something about his accents, well hes quite good. You should watch these films to see for yourself: Little Nicky, Kevin & Perry Go Large and 51st States.
He does various accent in each of those. I think hes too old to play Bill Weasley, I think hed suit Grindelwald, but as a young man.

They were the ones who caught the trio when they were camping and they brought them to the Malfoys. Or Deadalus Dingle? I believe he would make a terrific Mundungas Mcgee, though I know that part has been cast already.
Xenophelius is an older stout man, baldiing head, prince mustache and short gotee. He is someone not to be taken seriously, while Mundungas blends easily in the underworld.

Rhys Ifans is 40 years old. In my opinion, that makes him FAR too old to be Bill or Charlie. I know that people can be made to look a different age, but it might be pushing it to make him play someone in their early to mid 20s. I see what people mean by saying he looks like a Weasley, but there really arent any in his kind of age range, so unless hes a random Weasley relative (e.g. at the wedding) then it just doesnt seem possible - and I dont think hed get cast in such a tiny part.
