Rhys Ifans to star in Deathly Hallows
Rhys Ifans to star in Deathly Hallows While making an appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Rhys Ifans stated that he would be starring in the upcoming film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Ifans did not say what part he had been cast for, so let us know in the comments what character you think he would do a good job portraying.

UPDATE: Several reports are suggesting that he will play Xenophilius Lovegood. Please treat this as a rumor until confirmed.

You can check out the latest casting info in our Movie Section.

Thanks to Snitch Seeker for the tip!

He would be a better Mundungus than the other bloke for me , but ah well. Right what's your opinions ? Who SHOULD play Xeno ? And who SHOULD Rhys Ifans play ?

Rhys Ifans is 40 years old. In my opinion, that makes him FAR too old to be Bill or Charlie. I know that people can be made to look a different age, but it might be pushing it to make him play someone in their early to mid 20s. I see what people mean by saying he looks like a Weasley, but there really aren't any in his kind of age range, so unless he's a random Weasley relative (e.g. at the wedding) then it just doesn't seem possible - and I don't think he'd get cast in such a tiny part. On the other hand, he's easily the right age to be the father of a teenager, so Xenophilius Lovegood is a definite possibility (although I personally imagine Xeno as a little older and a little rounder). As so many sites are reporting him as Xenophilius, that looks like the most likely character he's going to play (and I do think he'd be good at it, despite not looking like I imagine the character). However, if I had to make a bet on an outside chance trhen I would, like I said in an earlier comment, go for Amycus Carrow. Carrow doesn't have a specified age, but he's described as blond - which Ifans is. Also, I believe the name 'Carrow' is of Welsh origins, which may mean that JKR thought of the Carrows as Welsh - which Ifans is. Additionally, Ifans is best known for his comic acting, and there's real opportunity to make the Carrows into funny, bumbling villains (they really, really don't have a clue). That said, I do think he'll probably be Xeno. I just like exploring possibilities. :)

I think he looks like Charlie, i don't think he'll make a good Xeno, i can't picture it at all. Maybe a death eater, who knows...

I think his past roles are great (Notting Hill, the Replacements). I'm excited to see him in HP. Him as Xeno will be entertaining for sure.

It appears that he will be a good Xeno ..... However a "STAR" in the Deathly Hallows????? I think not .... Xeno is a very minor character at best. I really don't think (hope not) that he is as pretentious as the statement infers.

For some reason he strikes me as a Fenrir Greyback, even though I know that role is taken. He's probably Xeno fer sure.

By saying 'star' most people say that when they are in a movie with a role ..
