MTV has posted four video interviews with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson where the actors talk about the Half-Blood Prince movie.
MTV also talked to producer David Heyman who said that "the most difficult choice was to edit out some of the flashbacks in the memories that Harry explores. Each film has to exist on its own terms, and alas, within these memories, they're really significant and actually in the whole body of the series play a very significant part, but within the film they are detours in a way, going into a story about Voldemort, who doesn't really appear in this film."

How can he say that the memories are DETOURS?!! I cant believe it. These are key moments for the whole story. I think Im gonna be really disappointed about this situation in the HBP movie.

"A Sluggish Memory" is my favourite chapter in the whole series, so I hope they dont change that part of the story too much. But it does make sense to cut out a few of the memories - films dont normally include back stories on non-main characters.

crap... taking out all the important scenes... Im curious as to how theyre going to explain some of the horcrux stuff in DH.

Im confused, from what we saw in the first two trailers, theyre focusing a lot on young Tom riddle, which I was really happy about. And I know they edit trailers to bring out certain aspects of the film, but youd have thought that theyd only do that if there really was a focus on the memories.
Im thinking that perhaps they will somehow show the memories in DH 1&2, as then they might not be detours as much (I think thats stupid, but Im just trying to see it from their point of view)

Hmmm. So they are over sexualizing the movie because thats sort of an aspect of the books, but cutting out the memory scenes because Voldemort isnt such a main character anyway. That makes total sense. Because, I mean, just because Voldemort killed Harrys parents and failed to kill Harry doesnt mean he should get any special treatment. Who honestly cares if Voldemort is the reason that the Order of the Phoenix was formed? You see, Im not a "purist" but things like this bug me. I understand that every single plot of the books cant be kept, but the memories are very important! Oh well, I am still going to see the movie and I hope that it does the books (and the actors/actress abilities) justice

Alas! I can not view the videos because to quote MTV "were unable to offer this video to viewers in your region". Oh well, I suppose these vids will eventually be allowed to us Canadians.

huh. what do ya know. oh well im still looking forward to the movie C:
im sure it will be better than any other movie ive seen in a while lol, even if it doesnt have "every single thing from the book" D: gasp. lol
jeez =]
besides, david yates is a good director, and i think hes right. each movie needs to stand on its own without the book you know? like some people who have NOT read the book at all go wha? i think hes smart =]

it gets me angry that they dont include everything from the books. i mean i know they cant include EVERYTHING, but they should put in the important stuff, which they sometimes dont...i mean with the last movie, they cut out so much, some of my friends who never read the book were all confused and i had to explain all the parts they cut out.
(and dobby should never have been cut out of movies 4,5, and 6...just thought id throw that out there ;) )

Cant see it in Canada...Steve Kloves said they would cut lots of pensieve moments because they put the movie into too many narrative cul-de-sacs that slows the pace. I can see that, but Ill still miss the Gaunts.

Great interviews...I want to see this movie sooo bad and hearing them talk about it just makes it ten times worse!! I think the "better guy" Emma mentions is Cormac MacLaggen...i cant wait to see him in the movie!!!! :D

Im fine with them not including some of the memory scenes. Too many would drag the film on a bit, and Id rather they put good focus on the most important few memories, instead of including all the memories but rushing them.
