I am so 100% not down with them camping up Dumbledore. Dumbledore is eccentric because he is Dumbledore, not because he is gay! His character shouldnt follow any conventions or sterotypes! A pink beard thingy? Really?

Paranoia... really?

Dan is so intelligent. Hes like Johnny Depp, absolutely brilliant in ideas and articulation. Im making a clay bust of him for my art class...I really hope it doesnt come out looking terrible *laughs*

I agree. Im always happy to hear what he has to say :)

I really enjoyed reading this interview, really good. Dan is always very generous talking so well about his castmates.----thatpotterb oy , you should read the interview before making questions, he eplains it very well, and it sound just like the book. :)

chavalah, what I understand is they are not camping up Dumbledore in the movies, its just Gambon playing jokes about it during the filming, between scenes. Im looking foward to watch all those scenes Dan describes, it sounds very good!

Awesome! I cant wait to read it! Dan always gives great interviews!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-04-28 13:28:36

chavalah, I think you misunderstood. Michael Gambon is camping it up around the set. The pink beard thing is what he wears when hes eating in costume so he doesnt get food in his fake beard. Hes doing that for a laugh on set, not on camera.

I love Dan so much. Hes such a kind, genuine person.

KILL THE SPARE!

I still dont like Michael Gambon as Dumbledor. "Camping it up a bit"?? Wtf... we wouldve never known Dumbledore was gay unless JK had said so. Maybe reading HBP actually helped him in his acting... but Ill wait til I see the movie to be convinced

I agree that I dont like Gambon as Dumbledore... but yea you guys need to read the whole interview before commenting. He didnt change anything about the way he plays Dumbledore because he found out he was gay, he was just having fun with the idea between scenes. Anyways... I have to say I loved reading this interview! Ive always had some respect for Dan but it has really gone up now, first because he was so generous with his fellow cast and also because he is intelligent and well-spoken. I liked his comment on the last question saying that having money gives you the ability to be more selective but also gives you the *responsibility* to be selective... hmm, interesting observation.

I want to know what Gambon has named the scenes. That is so cruel to tell us about the process and then say it is too offensive to repeat. He thinks Gambon is funny, have you ever seen Dan in his bit with Dame Diana Rigg? If you havent, check it out on YouTube. It his scandalously funny.

Yay Dan! Great interview. Good head on his shoulders. Just read another one by him where he said he would love to see Helen Miren or Judy Dench in the HP films. I said the same thing last week!! Judy Dench for Auntie Muriel!! What other older woman is in Deathly Hallows--who has lines anyway? I hope they keep Auntie Muriel, she will be a hoot!!

I really like that Tom and Dan are good mates. ^_^ The Sectumsempra scene will be awesome! XD

"If you have the freedom to be selective with your projects, you also have the responsibility to be selective." That is such a great quote. I love the fact that Dan hasnt gotten a big head. Dan is so great, and that was a good interview!

Great interview...I would LOVE to hear some of the nicknames Gambon came up with lol. He sounds like he has a great sense of humor.

Dan seems very smart and together. Gosh, I actually hope that Gambon puts Dumbledores flamboyancy into the film, even if it is because hes gay. That would be great to watch! I have high hopes for Gambon in this film. I think he might surprise me.

Did the reporter know what she was talking about? In one question it sounded like she was saying there were only six movies instead of eight. Six? And I loved how he kindly seemed to correct her for saying they were filming 3 not 4 movies with this director. Hes such a class act. I adore him and am so eager to watch Half-Blood Prince and DH!

Well, I can certainly see why we're trying to keep them alive. Who wouldn't want pets that can burn, sting, and bite all at once?
