'Phoenix' filming info and pictures
We have been informed that Order of the Phoenix filming took place last week in a forest in Burnham Beeches, England (Robin Hood was also partially filmed there). The scene in question is where Hagrid introduces his fifth year class to Thestrals.

Also, HP4U has a report from recent Movie 5 filming at Virginia Waters. This is the scene in which some Ministry of Magic employees attack Professor McGonagall with Stunning Spells outside Hagrid's hut (near the end of the book). You can view some interesting pictures, which includes shots of some of the cast, from the set here, and more details on the actual filming can be read below (spoiler alert).
Fan report from the recent Order of the Phoenix filming at Virginia Waters:

There were two scenes being filmed today; both come at the end of HP5. First was the recovery of Professor McGonagall after her incident with the Death Eaters outside Hagrid's hut; also following the attack at the Ministry and Hogwarts.

Professor McGonagall is resting in her chair, reading the headline 'He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named returns' in her Daily Prophet whilst speaking to Hagrid (today it was Martin Bayford standing in for Hagrid). We couldn't hear the dialogue but he was obviously comforting her after being hit by so many hexes. Dame Maggie Smith looked absolutely wonderful, and the new robes, worn by both teachers and students, are great.

At the same time this scene was being shot, from both front and rear (with the camera rising up to Hagrid's chest only) the Slytherins were being filmed. They were talking about the aftermath of Voldemort's return, and Draco, of course, was the centre of attention. He declared that his father and other Death Eaters would no doubt now win the battle!

Despite the scenes being filmed over and over again, you couldn't wait to watch, it was such good fun.

During filming we also saw David Heyman, the producer, riding his bike to and from the set and also later on signing books for some boys and chatting.

Fudge believes dumbledore and Harry at the end of OOTP Book.

Posted by weatherby551 Aug 3rd 2006

Ok, sorry I didn't read well. I'm excited that Tom Felton seems to be getting more scenes this time around. I mean, he's completely evil, but fun to watch and essential to the story, so...yay!

Posted by King_Weasley Aug 3rd 2006

Read it thoroughly. I think you're missing something, but my walking Harry Potter encylcopedia went to bed (i.e. Mom). By this point in the story, if I recall correctly, both McGonagall and Dumbledore have been suspended by the ministry and ordered off Hogwarts grounds. However, I only read the book once, so I may be mistaken. I know by the time Umbridge gets hers, it's known what's going on by the Prophet and Ministry. Methinks, man... need to read Order of the Phoenix again.

Posted by weatherby551 Aug 3rd 2006

Yeah, you're right King_Weasley. Thanks!

Posted by HermyG Aug 3rd 2006

wow! i am soo excited for the movie to come out!! I think it will be really good. Is the part with McGonagall in the books because i can't remember that part....i need to freshen up on my hp reading!

Posted by gingin77 Aug 3rd 2006

Did they say New Robes for students/teachers?! Robes changing AGAIN. Geeze. Keep one design, lol. and YAY FOR DRACO...>.> lol

Posted by broadwayybabe Aug 3rd 2006

Speaking on my behalf, and what I understood, it's not necessarily that we dont want to SEE the spoilers, it's that spoilers are RELEASED, when they obviously shouldn't be because its all things that aren't supposed to be released to the public til the films released. (If they released it, I think it'd be a different story)

Posted by photogenicmusic Aug 3rd 2006

I don't think that these are really 'spoilers'. I mean, if you read the book, you generally get the whole idea anyways. These are just pictures that aren't even of the scenes, they are of people standing around. I honestlt don't see the fuss about it spoiling anything.

Posted by Margaret Aug 3rd 2006

That looks pretty similar to my area. Too bad they couldn't film here. No, not really - having the reading was already too perfect for words, and having the movie being filmed here would just be too much. Haha. I'm looking forward to the movie release...yay for not even being a year!

Posted by performingmonkey Aug 3rd 2006

After reading those spoilers, I'm starting to wonder how the heck they're going to fit everything into this movie. Surely it's going to be 3 hours, or if it's shorter there's got to be an extended DVD cut? Whatever, the scene with the Slytherins sounds like a worthy addition. And McGonagall? I don't recall that being in the book. Anything extra is fine by me, it's more HP for us to enjoy.

Posted by xoxDumbledorexox Aug 3rd 2006

urgggg McGonagall is KNOCKED OUT!! 4 STUNNERS TO THE CHEST!!! shes not supposed to be having a chat with Hagrid!!! SHES IN THE HOSPITAL WING AND THEN ST. MUNGO'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE PEOPLE JUST CANT GET IT RIGHT CAN THEY?!?!?!?!?!? ok sorry rant over over all a good report at least they're including it in the movie

Posted by loonz Aug 3rd 2006

coolness. it looks like that place is supposed to be the school's lake.

Posted by Arinia Aug 3rd 2006

That's two more unnecessary scenes to add on...well I'm O.K with them as long as they're not just sticking them in, extending them to go on forever and taking time away from the actual story line. *coughfirsttaskinGOFcough*

Posted by Dr_Phil Aug 3rd 2006

Oh my God! I hoope they show Theodore Nott in the thestral scene!! I will be so peeved if he's not shown. Anyone else with me on this?

Posted by nevermoreaddict Aug 3rd 2006

Woah, xoxDumbledorexox, calm down. That's not the scene they're talking about. The scene being shot was a chat between Hagrid and McG AFTER she comes back from Mungo's and Voldie's return has been exposed. I keep on being amazed at how much they are putting in there -- pleased to see all my favourite parts included but anxious that it might be all jolted and pieced together like GoF. I also hope there will be more Malfoy scenes, and that he will be less of a ponce. I can understand people not wanting the way the movie plays out spoiled for them, even though they (obviously) know how the story goes. But others are right in saying that if you don't want to be spoiled, don't click. So tempting! I swore to myself last year that I wouldn't spoil GoF for myself, did anyway, and was still pleasantly surprised by the movie. It doesn't really matter. And... I always overdo my comments. Er.

Posted by weatherby551 Aug 3rd 2006

Ha ha, it's alright nevermoreaddict. I like the long comments. And I'm glad you've heard Malfoy's less of a ponce. He was more insufferable to me in the movies than in the books. I'd like to see it change a bit. And see more of him! WHOO! Hmm, I always comment too many times...

Dr. Phil spelled Dr. Phil incorrectly. -_-

Posted by crazy_clare_123 Aug 4th 2006

that so cool... but is it just me or is som1 offering tom f a fag in the last pic? * not to drop any hints to mugglenet staff or anythin, but i would b kinda cool if wen u post comments we could choose a colour 4 our writting an have smilies 2 add 2 our comments?!?!?!?!?! *

Posted by Thai_HP_Fan Aug 4th 2006

The_Oddball - Look at the pictures, the robes look exactly the same as in POA and GOF. If there is really some changes, it will be so minor that we can't see it in those pics. I think the person who wrote the report made some mistakes anyway( like when he/she said that McGonagall was attacked by death eaters)

Posted by mugglehp Aug 4th 2006

Hey hey! The snaps are really interesting! I'm glad they're doing this scene in the movie...wooooooo! I love all this info we're gettin' it rocks my socks! lol love y'all lots like jelly tots and vodka shots! :] ;p Natasha aka Princess Luna x

Posted by TF4MeChikadee Aug 4th 2006

I very much enjoy the fact that I can always pick out Tom Felton because of that insanely blonde head!!

Posted by RIP_DD Aug 4th 2006

i agree with photogenicmusic. can anyone honestly say that these pictures have totally ruined the 5th movie? I don't think so. But I'm so excited!!! WOOHOO!

Posted by crazy_clare_123 Aug 4th 2006

erm bit well alot of topic but on cbbc newsround website votes thingy emma won on fave celeblast week: Last week's winner: Emma Watson Last week's loser: Hilary Duff New this week: Alex Pettyfer Last week Rupert Grint's name accidentally was put on the list twice - so we added the votes together to make sure it was fair on the ginger-haired actor, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films.

Posted by weatherby551 Aug 4th 2006

Yes, Dr. Phil. I would like to see Theodore Nott as well. : )

Posted by RIP_DD Aug 4th 2006

sweet

Posted by trekkie2 Aug 4th 2006

Dolores Umbridge's people stunned McGonagall, when they were trying to take Hagrid away, not Deatheaters.

Posted by MaryEmmaGinny Aug 4th 2006

OOOOOH; I CANNOT WAIT TO THE MOVIE!!!!! it´s really sad. that only tom felton can be seen on the pictures....I WANT PICS OF EMMA WATSON!!!!!!

Posted by bluejeanphoenix Aug 4th 2006

Ah, yes, the all-important, "Professor McGonagall and Hagrid reading the paper and having a chat sequence" that we all remember so vividly... ...oh wait. yeah, they're filming another scene that...never...happened.... ... :headdesk: :headdesk: :headdesk: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that after her stint at St. Mungo's, good ol' McG shows up, sasses McSeverus, and gives a whole buncha points to Gryffindor? Isn't that her big triumphal return scene? Why not...I dunno...shoot the scenes that Jo actually wrote?... I dunno. I'm withholding judgement until opening night, but the more reports I read about filming the more nervous I get. Like, "Here comes the Durmstrang capoeira squad!" nervous. (And I dunno who wrote it, but yes, I really hope it's ministry officials and NOT Death Eaters who hit her with the Stunners...that's kind of the whole point of OOTP - at best, the ineffectiveness, and at worst, corruption of the wizarding bureacracy...)

Posted by leighpotter Aug 4th 2006

OMG! i'm going to england in afew days and i'm doing everything possible to find out about OOTP film! so if anyone hears about a mad fan on set...erm don't look at me!

Posted by trevor Aug 4th 2006

Ah, how interesting. My uncle works at Burnham Beeches, so it may be possible for me to secure more information. I shall get back to this..

Posted by thehillsx48 Aug 4th 2006

awesome. haha i see robbie coltrane aka hagrid =] my fav. character next to harry =]

Posted by thehillsx48 Aug 4th 2006

also, i think i saw crabbe or goyle, im not sure which one, but he was hanging out with tom on the set. =] and also the students of hogwarts.

Posted by nightrider Aug 4th 2006

New robes are fine with me as long as they change Dumbledore's robes! They were so drab and dirty looking in the last two movies and so nice in the first two movies.

Posted by The_Oddball Aug 4th 2006

I misspelled a word. How common of me. I meant to say fans rather then feans. Feans isn't even a word if I recall. lol. Thai_HP_Fan, that report said something about new robes. I hate all this every other film uniform change. It's a school and the uniforms don't change every other year. Well at least not where I'm from. I want to be an extra!!

Posted by King_Weasley Aug 4th 2006

bluejeanphoenix, There is a scene in which Hagrid and "McG" do converse over the paper at one point, besides... one must realize that for a book that's 870 pages. There WILL be gaps and mistakes because the initial adaptation to film from a book would be... oh, 5... 6 hours long. And would SOMEONE... PLEASE correct the error of the Death Eaters included in the "attack on Hagrid's hut" before someone gets confused??? It's Umbridge and Aurors! :headdesk:

Posted by Elphie Aug 4th 2006

weird, i was just reading that part in my book. can't wait to see them!

Posted by Dr_Phil Aug 4th 2006

Lol, finally, someone replied to my insane number of comments regarding Theodore Nott. Thank you, Weatherby! =)

Posted by scarqueen Aug 4th 2006

Please please please tell me this is a joke, I live in Burnham, as in Burmham Beeches is 5 minutes down the road!!! im going to sulk now, this is just as bad as when i missed the dragon filming at Black Park, also just down the road. Im doomed to miss everything!

The Fat Friar told me that Umbridge tried to get back into his [Dumbledore's] office last night after they'd searched the castle and the grounds for him. Couldn't get past the gargoyle. The Head's office has sealed itself against her. Apparenly she had a right little tantrum...
