Yeah, Ishi, the spoilers arent that bad :) But Id be willing to bet that Ron uses every single one of those words (God, bloody, tosser, sod, hell and git) in this movie :P

Cool...
One qualm though, and this has nothing to do with Harry Potter. Some may disagree, but I have a problem with the word "God" being considered "Mild language" and thrown in with more swear-like words. I know a lot of people may not believe in God, but why has mentioning the name become swear-like material? I can see how it would be offensive if a character used "God!" as a profanity, i.e. "God! Why the heck did etc. etc." but still, its not like the more colorful expletives are being used. Just one of my qualms.

AngelMoonGirl, Im sure they mean that it was used in a profane way (maybe God darn it or something).
Im so excited for this moviiieee!

Hey,,,guys....i think that stuff didnt spoil anything...
and i think the movie deserves 12A and pg13 ratings,,bcos the trailers looks so dark and somber,,,
and HBP is supposed to be darker than OotP so,,,i think...it does justice.........
so more 25days...haaaa..the big day is coming ...
cant wait.

Are there huge spoilers? Like, about the death??
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 21:24:39
I love how they listed all of the words "tosser" ha!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 21:30:43
I am really pumped for this. A question, though. Do u recommend seeing at midnight or just the next day? I have a feeling I might drift in and out if I see it at midnight, but I do wanna be one of the first so no one can ruin it for me.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 21:37:34
Im seeing it at midnight, dawg...lol
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 21:42:34
OH no, what will happen to the kids if they hear the word Sod?... or any other of those words listed. Bit of a joke really.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 22:01:43
Well those are some pretty colorful words, words Im positive J. K. Rowling never imagined putting in her books (except bloody, git, and hell)! I mean are these words completely neccessary to the plot line that they must be included? I think not! Tosser? Not really a word people would want to explain to their under 13 year olds. In fact, I would not allow my child to see the movie if he were not as mature as he is. But I will be seeing it at midnight on Tue. the 14th of July (10 days after my birthday), and will probably take Talan to see it in Imax later. I thought about it and if Im going to see the next Twilight in theaters, then I have to go see HBP more than once.

Yea these are mostly European swears. American kids, esp. younger ones, would just wonder/totally miss words like "sod", "bloody", "tosser" etc. Heck I dont even know the true connotation of tosser!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 22:25:22
The "mild language" kinda makes me laugh. Rons been saying "bloody hell" since day one & he did call some kid a "tosspot" in OOTP. And since when is "god" cause for concern? lol
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 23:10:04
The word "tosser" in a Harry Potter film is awesome! Im so happy. And saying " God" is not a big deal :/
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 23:29:42
For those of us that believe in God using His name in any other way than in a respectful way is offensive.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-19 23:34:51
So, basically, its probably the language that made the rating higher. Tosser and sod and all those other words mean something different to them than they do to us.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 00:12:26
youre absolutely right Siriuslyfun! Thats why its PG in America... hell, i dont even know what tosser is... but im sure its quite perverted, since in America we say something like "Toss my salad" or something like that, lol Inferi and Sectumsempra isnt enough to make the movie a FULLY PG-13 film.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 00:32:19
well.. i see WHY its like that in the UK... Tosser means someone who masturbates, sod means eff off or go away in a rude way. i dont see why god is bad though.. or bloody.. or hell for that fact... git means an idiot a wanker (someone who masturbates), a jerk and some more... :) HOPE I HELPED :)

Okay, actually my problem with this is the fact that Katie Bell wasnt mentioned. Weve seen that shot, I think that could be worse for a kid than a toilet wand battle....
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 02:21:28
I completely agree with BBFC, I almost think the rating should be PG13 in the US. I honestly dont think young kids should see this movie. Im going.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 02:39:29
"Malfoy, who is rendered unconscious, has several bloodstains on his white shirt "
Id like to think that Sectumsempra would cause more than several bloodstains.. Id also like to think that they included that in the movie.
:(
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 08:50:20
Obviously sectrumsempra is included o.O.
And I knew it wasnt gonna be a lot of blood. Theyll just show the reflection and have a puddle of bloody water on the ground. Its good that way.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 09:16:41
How stupid! what does tosser and sod mean? Sounds more funny than mild to me.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 09:26:57
I can understand the rating because of the scene with the Inferi but for a little bit of blood on Harrys face or on Malfoys shirt. Only kids in the UK would know what a tosser and a sod means but most of us in America wont know what it means.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 09:28:23
To the 4th comment. LOl. I was just saying that to my wife before I read the comments only we figure hell use most of them in one sentence... ex: "God, why the hell is that bloody git such a tosser......sod!"

tosser is someone who masturbates... and quite frankly A LOT of us guys have been tossers once, lol
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 10:49:15
lol im gonna be watching out for "sod" and "tosser", thats gonna be funny, its probably ron saying ALL those words lol.
btw a tosser is someone that masturbates and sod has something to do with anal sex apparently :S
but in the same way that b*stard is rarely used to describe someone without a father, tosser and sod arent often used in that context.
personally i would say sod is a less offensive version of the f word (i.e. sod it), and tosser can be used instead of b*astard (but so can sod)
hope i helped the non-british :)

oh yeah thanks xxNabluvsHPxx .. cuz i DID hear that Draco Malfoy calls Harry a Bastard TWICE in the movie.. so he must be calling him a tosser. My guess is at the train b4 breaking his nose, and again in the bathroom. And i dont know why the British call it the "toilets".. isnt there a much nicer appropriate term? lol
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 18:22:15
Lmao. All those "Swear words" have been said by Ron in previous movies. I just watched OOTP and I know someone said, "Nosy Sods" "Git" "Tosser"...all of them and OOTP is PG-13 and I dont remember any blood in that movie. But Im really excited to see the Harry/Draco stuff in this movie. Its going to be AWESOME! And I wonder if the Bridge collapse and the Burrow attack and DUMBLEDOREs DEATH, Katie Bell getting cursed, Ron getting poisoned...were also included in that rating?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 19:32:06
WOOOHOOO, they are going to keep Malfoy getting his buttocks kicked by Harry with the curse!!!! YES!
|

spoilers? i think ill skip this one lol
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 22:29:25
i cannot wait for this move
the "mild language" part was so funny lol
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-20 23:46:05
I dont even know what half of those words mean beause Im not british lol...
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-21 11:08:41
It doesnt sound like the Harry-Draco violence is going to be nearly as good as it is in the book. The bathroom scene was one of my favourite bits in the whole series, it was so dark and shocking. But it sounds like theyve really watered it down for the movie:(
I think its more the violence than the language that mean its a 12A. You can say the s word in a PG, and none of these words are as bad as that.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-06-22 14:43:54
@Blossum552: I dont know...I think the scene is still going to be pretty impressive because apparently Harry and Draco fight physically in addition to using magic and Harry uses the sectumsempra curse on him which results in alot blood. Just like the book. Ive seen a picture of it and its definitely not watered down in any way.
