The Telegraph speaks with director David Yates
The Telegraph speaks with director David Yates There's a new interview this morning with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince director David Yates. He talks about how he realized that this franchise is huge:

“It’s funny how things change,” he offers. “I felt really self-conscious making this last film. The first time, I didn’t realise how big it was until I got to the premiere and then got to America and saw how massive the release was, and how huge the reaction was. That was when the penny dropped, when I realised that this was such a big thing for so many people.

“Oddly, that meant that when I started this one, I was a little bit warier of everything rather than being more confident. The first time round you just do it; you just go for it. But I have settled in and this one’s quite different from the last one. It’s a little bit more grown up and a bit wittier. It’s a different vibe.”

Sooo he just realized that Harry Potter is a huge franchise? That's nice to hear..

I like Yates' attitude; he appears very confident in regards to his directing style and it shows immensely onscreen. He's really allowed the series to grow up with the characters. I remember when the first two films were drenched in bold and vibrant colors, but now, the style is more toned down and mirkier, representing the severity of the times.

i like a man that can admit his faults.. i'm not surprised that he felt cocky in making the 5th film because it's kind of reflected in the movie. It is good to know that he's realized how much harry really means to all of us fans.. hp is def a huge franchise.. HUGE franchise.

Of course its huge. Harry Potter for me has been my fascination since the books and movies came out. This has been my childhood. I am 19 years old and will be 20 by the time the series is over [maybe 21]. I was 10 years old when this started to get big. This has been 10- 11 years of my life, of course its huge. And I think its a good thing David is a little uneasy about the last film. Uneasiness and stress is usually a good thing. It can only be good for the skill of the film. You know by him saying that he's a little unsure that he put a lot of thought into it and it's going to be AMAZING!

Ya, he didn't realize how big the movies were until he got to America, is that why OotP sucked? He seems to know what hes doing now anyways so I have a good feeling about David Yates for HBP and DH.
