Release date for GOF HD-DVD
DVD Town is reporting that the HD-DVD for the Goblet of Fire movie will be released on August 29th. We're currently working on verifying this date with Warner Bros. Also, both the front and back cover art for the DVD has surfaced online.

Can't wait.
I wonder if it's going to be any good...we'll see!

That seems weird...all 3D...I dunno if I will want to watch that very much...but I'll buy it nonetheless.
Cool...gonna buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!
sweet thats on my birthday!! what a great present for me to buy for myself!!!
i have to agree with spattergroit.....it just seems weird...but i will still buy it
This is a Hi-Definition version of the same movie we've seen and is definetely not in 3-D. If you don't have a $500 HD-DVD player you can't even play this. Why in the world would you buy it?
yay... i might buy it... post 9?
whoo post 10 anyway ooo h-d movie thats interesting
i'm getting no doubt, but like others have said, i don't know how often i will actually watch it.
Now I feel all cruddy. I shouldda waited for better versions of GoF instead of buying the 2disc dvd.
Maybe I'll get it, It is a few days after my birthday when it comes out, I'll have the money
cool thats awsome
ooooh! top 20? probably not...
I want a new poll. Who agrees?!

You can't play this on a regular DVD player or computer.
is that true we can't play it on a regular dvd player or computer
special.
Um... Why?
I wouldn't want to watch it, but I hope everyone else enjoys it.
Does anyone actually own a hd-dvd player?
I'm pretty sure that the majority of you commenters (including I) do not own an HD-DVD player, the reason being is that it is still fairly new technology. These next generation DVD formats (two, there's this HD-DVD and then the better format [for many reasons] is Blu-ray) are made specifically for High Definition video, and the only way to play them as of now are HD-DVD players or Blu-ray players, which are still $500 - $1000, and are not backwards compatible with regular DVD players nor with each other. The advantage of HD-DVD and Blu-ray are the size capacity of the discs, HD-DVD having 15GB for single layer and 30GB for double layer; and Blu-ray having 25GB for single layer and 50GB for double layer. The main problem now getting the film that you want to watch on your player as not all studios are releasing their films on both formats, although most of the major companies are supporting both formats mainly because they do not know who will win this so called "war"; WB supports both formats, yet there is no Blu-ray Goblet of Fire date set, although they say that all of their releases will go to both HD-DVD and Blu-ray. I just thought I'd like to clear up any confusion... on a MuggleNet forum, haha. If you guys want to find out more details about both formats (because there is oh so much more information to read about) try a Google search and you will be amazed by how much technology is set to change. Take care.
You know, to my knowledge a high definition television is required for watching those types of movies, perhaps even in addition to the HD player that Mr. modenadude was talking about. Galleons do tend to run short for the average Jo reader (no pun intended Jo) and while it is exciting to see technology advice, I find it much more economical to live in the proverbial Dark Age, and wait for the technology to get out dated and cheap. It is then just as new to you as it was to those who spluged a bit earlier. My best to all!
Boo_on_You - i agree!!! NEW POLL, PLEAZ!!!
I have the Toshiba HDA1 HD-DVD player, this disc will only work in a HD player. I paid $500 for mine 2 weeks ago.... IT ROCKS!!!!!! picture is way better than even broadcast HD. I can't wait for this Disc to street
