If you're a Potter fan and a Twitter user, chances are you follow Oliver Phelps and Warwick Davis and saw some Deathly Hallows-related updates they've made recently.
First, actor Warwick Davis (who has previously played Professor Flitwick) confirmed he will indeed play Griphook in Deathly Hallows. Although this has been hinted at for some time (set pictures like this one tend to confirm these kinds of things), it's the first time we've gotten direct word.
Second, Oliver Phelps updated his Twitter with word that he is the "first actor in the UK to have a VFX MOVA facial capture scan. Exciting technology." We presume this is for special effects in Deathly Hallows as it's the only film he's working on right now.
Thanks to all you Twitter users who e-mailed with the tips!

Bellatrix looks SO out of place at Shell Cottage even though we know it is Hermione in disguise...

Most likely the tech on Oliver has to do with the missing ear. I keep wondering what it will be like for the Phelps twins filming those scenes at the end of the book, particularly Oliver, as the guy playing Fred really is his twin brother.

I bet that facial scan has to do with the missing ear :) I cant wait to see how that will look :~)

Nifty info! And yeah I bet that technology is for the ear. Cool stuff.

Ive watched Warwick Davis since the days of standing in line for **hours for tickets to the biggest premier in the early 80s, Return of the Jedi. Back when the die hards would dress up like Darth Vader, etc. It was fun. Loved him in Willow, and always glad to see him getting work. They could have him look like himself for a change and it could be another character in the battle at the end of DH2. Im sure they will have hundreds of extra wizards and witches to due justice to this "showdown." (I am expecting quite a show.)

Its definitely about the missing ear! So cool! It must be real advanced technology so itll pretty realistic! xD

So cool!!!!! I wonder what scene they scanned his face for?? Maybe for the part when he loses an ear since its just him. He didnt mention any other actors getting scanned. I really cant wait to see the 7 Potters sequence thats going to be the BEST ACTION SEQUENCE EVER!!!! Im so excited! I think Warwick Davis plays pretty much every short creature in the films doesnt he?

Its not for the ear. I think it might be for the epilogue? To age his face? IDK.
@OliverPhelps for the ear right?! Oh yeah Im good! =]
@ActingIsLife actually no. :-p

Im disappointed they are not bringing back Verne Troyer as Griphook. IMDB doesnt indicate that he has a conflict in his schedule. In my mind it is just as bad as replacing the actors that play the school aged Tom Riddle. Id really like to have seen WB stay consistent with all of the actors.

Randomchat is right. He updated with an answer to a follower saying it wasnt for the ear. I hadnt thought about the epilogue though. Good guess.

Im so glad that Warwick Davis is playing Griphook and not another actor that is new to the franchise. Mr Davis already knows the cast, and knows the trio so well. He would be great at what he is going to have to do. Cant wait to see it, and hopefully they split it at the point where the trio was taken by the snatchers, I think its the perfect place to keep us "book" fans salivating for more, and rightfully confuse the "havent read the books and dont understand why we all hated Order of the Phoenix" group.

Surprisingly, Oliver replied to another person, saying that wasnt what it was for (the ear). I wonder, however, what it will be for.
They used the scanner thing in benjamin button, so maybe it is for the epilogue...

I wonder if James is jealous? lol! Maybe they let him play with the techy-fix-it toys incase he felt left out:)

i was just reading comments... and if its not for the ear thingy.. maybe it is the epilogue then... how he deals with the death? marrying angelina? idk.... maybe theyll either do another face-scan for the ear... or use the blue/green screen for it like they did for Dumbley Dores hand ?

This is exciting news! I guess its for the epilogue, and I really hope they do a good job with the aging, but I also hope they dont make them all look REALLY old because that would just be weird.

@ImmortalShark: Verne Troyer is too short to play Griphook. And hes not menacing enough at all. I think Warwick Davis is perfect for the role. @Gryffindor_Seeker_7: George isnt in the epilogue is he? I mean I guess he could be in the movie, but hes not in the book. I didnt even think about the epilogue. That could totally be what its for.

i hope its for the epilogue, too. it woud be nice for them to extend it and put more characters in the movie version that werent necessarily in the book version. actually, i wouldnt mind if they completely changed it and put it at the burrow or something so we could see the whole family (just a thought).

@iwantorlando05, yeah, George wasnt in it in the book, but I bet the directors just think it would be nice to have the whole family there in the epilogue, and I guess it would be nice. Its totally possible that Georges kids (Fred II and Roxanne) are Hogwarts-age too, and Harry and the family just pass by, and maybe stop to say hi. I think that would go along with the "All was well" idea.

But then whos playing Flitwick if the guy playing Flitwick is now Griphook?
