A couple months ago, we reported that Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets Ultimate Editions were in the works. Today, with the news of the Half-Blood Prince DVD arriving December 8th, we've now learned that the Ultimate Editions will hit store shelves on the same day. As Video Business reports: The new Ultimate Editions of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, priced at $39.92 on DVD and $49.99 on Blu-ray, will each include five hours of special features, theatrical and extended versions of the film, a 48-page photo book and other collectibles. Among the special features will be screen tests, new featurettes with the cast and filmmakers and the first two one-hour installments of a new comprehensive documentary about the making of the movie franchise. Called Creating the World of Harry Potter, the eight-hour documentary will have one hour on each Ultimate Edition. Additionally, Video Business reveals that a new iPhone app - allowing users to learn and fire virtual spells at friends - will arrive in November.

Cool, but the first two arent that good to deserve this jinormous box set. Im stcking with my dvds. But HBP is a deffinately Blu-ray buy for me.

Youre right alex_c98. I hope they do it with Philosophers Stone. I didnt like changing it into Sorcerers Stone!

This isnt worth it. WB states there will be five discs: theatrical, extended, features, more features, and a digital copy. On this website they list SS and COS to only have seven and thirteen minutes respectively of new footage. They also wrote disc 3 will have deleted scenes...so its not a fully woven movie like Lord of the Rings got. http://www.hometh eaterforum.com/forum/thre ad/293063/whv-press-relea se-harry-potter-ultimate- editions-dvd

WTF lol ultimate collectors editions arent supposed to be each individual movie in a huge package with more stuff its supposed to be every movie in the saga in one massive case with mounds of extras on more dvds like they did with the superman ultimate collectors edition which was 14 DVDS so with HP it would be around 25 DVD total but Im sure WB will release a SUPER MEGA ULTIMATE PLATINUM SET once all the movies are out

waterbug - I dont endorse the "Sorcerers Stone" title because the reasons behind the title change were ridiculous. Also, they changed the name of a historical object (or rather, a legendary one), which bothers me greatly. Plus, I cant stand when things get Americanized.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-09-18 04:22:44

I have to agree with alex_c98 about the Philosophers Stone vs. Sorcerers Stone thingy. When I first learned why the name had been changed, I was seriously laughing my rear end off and couldnt quite believe how they could have done something so stupid. And Im not even a native English speaker. The Philosophers Stone is a historical/legendary object, for efs sake. Its like changing the name of Stonehenge to something different for the American tourists. Even though it would be nice to own different versions of the books, in addition to the Bloomsbury versions and Finnish versions I already own, I dont think I could ever buy the Scholastic versions of the HP books, simply because I cant stand the Americanisation of them.
