J.K. Rowling announced, while at the Stella McCartney show, that she is indeed putting "pen to paper."
“I’m working on something, but it’s not Harry Potter,” she said. “I need a Harry break.”
You may recall that she mentioned she was busy writing when she posted her first Twitter message last month.
What could it be?

MadEye_Moody: A non-Potter Rowling series would unlikely be 7 books. 7 is a number very important to magic and JKR has said she wants to stay clear of magic for awhile.
merrymarge: That wa released awhile ago and its merely a short story Jo wrote for charity. Not a full-length plot shes planning to publish or anything.

Whatever JKR writes will be brilliant...but the question we should be asking is...WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED?! It took her 17 years to finish Harry Potter and she had a deadline...she has NO deadline now...I just hope it comes out by the time Deathly Hallows Part two does. And she never said for sure that she was going to do the encyclopedia...but I really hope she does!! *fingers crossed*

Martigan - I think she was implying the Scottish Book. Which is Harry related but will be a long and difficult task, I expect, so I understand her wanting a break from the HP world for a few years. :)
I cant wait to see what shes writing next. She has an amazing imagination, it would be a shame if it were confined to Harry only! :D I cant wait to fall in love with whatever shes writing.

Well whatever shes writing, I sure hope Warner Brothers gets the permission to incorporate them into movies fast, before her characters actors age too much xP. Maybe a 17 year old whos 17, and not 21 *_*. Though what Id love is for her to invent another world. Harry Potter is famous because she created a world full of imagination and magic. If she created something like, about (and god forbid) fairies, I hope she goes deep down and gets into it. I wouldnt mind something like, a realistic wo/man on a journey to fulfill something and it takes a few books to do so. Like, in Up, with Carl Fredrickson. That movie was so beautiful and amazing, and I love the whole story of it. I just wish it was a few hours longer, lol. You know? Thatd be awesome (: . She can also make it unrealistic, like Harry Potter, but make it FEEL realistic, like Harry Potter, how to us muggles, wizards dont exist, etc. The same thing with Toy Story. Toy Story is a movie about movie toys, but its REALISTIC, because the toys will only move whenever a human isnt there. Something we ALL wonder now about our toys... xD

Well. I LOVE the first comment! LOL! And I could see the Kick-Twilights-butt Vampire story idea! That would be obviously better than Twilight, (I mean, this is JK we are talking about) so I MIGHT be able to stand it! Also, love the Ginny Weasley Chronicles idea, although I doubt that is what she is talking about since "a break from Harry" probably includes a break from his girlfriend/wife, depending on when the GWC takes place. And SPEAKING of "a break from Harry," WHO could possibly need a break from HARRY?!? Goodness. Perhaps that just means she is waiting for another brainwave for the Encyclopedia, because perhaps it is 500 pages long and she just needs one more chapter or something.
