Back in August our friends at UHP reported that actor, Ray Fearon, was rumoured to reprise his role as Firenze in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Earlier this week we contacted Ray Fearon's agency, to see if they could shed any light on the situation. They responded to say that as of yet they have not been approached about this role and that currently this rumour is incorrect.
With just under 9 months of filming still to go, this could all change. With so many familiar faces returning, it is still likely that we may get to see our favourite Centaur on the screen one last time.
In the meantime be sure to check out our Deathly Hallows film section for a wealth of information, including an updated Cast list.

I agree with camken, Firenze is not a vital character in book 7, If I recall, Firenze doesnt ever speak in DH. He is just in the great hall at the end. I hope he is in it, however, I wont be too concerned if he is not.

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT?!? FIRENZE IS BLOODY IMPORTANT! (I usually dont use that term lol) He was like the ONly centaur that fought with everyone else in the first part of the battle

That doesnt qualify as important.

i completely forgot about firenze! i guess i just assumed wed never see him again after he was cut from movie 5. it would be cool to see him in the last one i guess if nothing more than to bookend the movies. (i love his voice in the one lol)

I think Firenze should be in the last film!! Even though he is not the most important character in the book, it was sad that they cut him from Order of the Phoenix. Im sure the audience would love to see him again on the big screen.

He wasnt in the book either if Im not mistaken...But the centaurs should definitely be in the books. The character of Firenze hasnt really been in the films since Sorcerers Stone. The centaurs didnt even speak in OOTP.

Awww that would be really too bad but there is a lot to fit in so I would understand. Im sure the movie will be amazing anyways : )

The centaurs in general are important, especially at the end. But judging from the filmmakers standards, I dont think Firenze himself is important enough to make an appearance. Though just because Ray Fearons voice wont be used for Deathly Hallows, doesnt mean he wont be appearing. For example, the actor who did Kreachers voice in Order of the Phoenix is being replaced by another actor for Deathly Hallows.

Are we really surprised? Why would WB want to spend money creating a digital centaur and hiring ANOTHER actor for a tiny tiny part?? I dont really care, as long as Neville gets to pwn Nagini Im happy :)

I thought they were totally CGI - so I guess were just talking about voices here. ? First - I thought Bane/Firenze were critical in the first book because the *implication* was that the younger centaur interfered with the prophesy - with what the centaurs were reading in the stars as "meant to be" - which means that he was not supposed to prevent Voldemort/Quirrel from killing Harry right there in the forest. Certainly would have shortened the series. But remember - he got in trouble for doing that. I think with the mermaids too - those magical creatures were not only fascinating, but JK used them to illustrate Dumbledores deep and mighty respect for all creatures (he spoke Mermish, and the centaurs let him get Umbridge, and he told Harry that it was Sirius disrespect for Kreacher that landed him dead) which is part of the proof that Dumbledore never was all "Magic is Might" wizards-should-be-the-sup reme-race afterall.

no big loss, and no is is not important at all, in fact he barely appears in book 7. as far as i am concerned he wasnt reintroduced in OtP they dont need to bring him back for 7, I am sure the centaurs will still be in the film, that will be more than enough

I really think they should bring Firenze back. Definitely. I love Firenze! He was really loyal to Dumbledore and the gang. That was really cool I thought. iwantorlando05, Firenze was in DH, fighting and he got hurt.

Now that I think of it - why was that nasty witch Umbridge still against Dumbledore - after he rescued her from the Centaurs?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-10-14 15:46:13
Ann: You answered your own question: She was a nasty witch! I remember Jo saying something in an interview: she is "a nasty piece of work"! I think she probably thought it was partly Dumbledores fault she was taken away by the Centaurs anyway. She was just an idiot.

Not a huge loss if he doesnt return, but it would be nice if he did. He really hasnt been important since the first one, and his role in 7 was short and not at all important. Theres still plenty of filming to do, so who knows. Well just have to wait and see.

Ive read the book 4 times, the last time just recently too, and I am having a hard time remembering him in the battle lol. So obviously, he is not that important. Book people know why its a pivotal point when the centaurs join the battle, but movie goers wouldnt get it AT ALL. Although, I would like to see all the centaurs come into play during the final battle... I wanted to see all the arrows flying in the air on the big screen.
