Over the past few weeks we've reported on several cool Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD/Blu-Ray features, and another one specifically for Blu-Ray has just been announced today.
David Yates and Dan Radcliffe will participate in a community screening of Half-Blood Prince on December 12th starting at 3 PM EST. Fans who have a copy of the film on Blu-Ray and are registered in the BD Live community will be invited to participate. Comments from David and Dan via VideoBusiness:
"I'm really looking forward to the live community screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and excited to talk directly to fans of the movie about my experiences and answer their questions," said Radcliffe. "It's a wonderful way for fans and for those directly involved with making a film to share opinions and ideas."
Yates added, "I'm looking forward to engaging with the thoughts and opinions of the fans who have supported us so loyally and passionately over the years-without them the films wouldn't be the success they are."

Hey Rach1593, no, you cannot play a Blu-ray disc on a regular DVD player. You need a Blu-ray DVD player, or the Playstation 3 which plays Blu-ray discs also. Sorry.

Guys, guys. Dont get too excited. I did this with "The Dark Knight" Blu-ray. So, with that release, only the first x number of people who register their Blu-ray will be able to participate. And its by text chat, not live video or anything. I can understand chatting with The Great Christopher Nolan, but Davy Yates isnt that awesome. Now, Radcliffe being there changes everything...
And.... @ Rach1593 YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT BLU-RAY IS???
Im shocked. okay, you have to have a PS3 or BD player to play a BD. BD is like DVD but with higher capcity and a different reading mechanism. Thus, it is able to hold HD video, with is of more capacity than SD (DVD). You cannot play BDs on DVD players and BDs generally cost more than DVDs.

Tell me why dont they bother to wait until AFTER christmas to ever do these things?

Because they want CHRISTMAS SALES DOLLARS, thats why they dont wait. Duh. The whole reason behind when they are releasing it. Jingle Bucks, Jingle Bucks, Jingle all the way... to the bank, that is. Ka-Ching!

Dude, i would REALLY love to ask David Yates some questions like why he wanted to stick it out so long in the series more than the others.. Not that im complaining, itll help the continuity a lot, but im just curious. Its kind of funny that they chose him over the more popular directors like Spielberg, Del toro, Burton and etc... BUT when you hear the type of things those directors said they would do to Harry Potter, its easy to understand why WB didnt choose them. Typical Hollywood directors always feel they should Americanize or SENSATIONALIZE a franchise.. and truth be told, they were literally going to RAPE the HP franchise if they got their hands on it. One director (i think it was Quentin Tarantino, bless him) said that the Harry Potter movies needs more Sex, Violence... and the loss of innocence/ With all due respect I love his movies (I mean look at kill bill and inglourious basterds) but hes Just not the guy for Harry Potter. and several others too, you wouldnt believe what they said they would do to HP... alot of these directors are known to KILL franchises anyway, so its a good thing WB made their choice carefully. :)
