EW: Voldemort is a charming, yet deadly character Looking forward to Halloween, Entertainment Weekly has released a list of "17 Characters Who Are Charming -- But Deadly."

Lord Voldemort - and Ralph Fiennes' portrayal - is one of the characters they list.

Nothing charming about Voldemort ... Ralph Fiennes on the other hand ...

Posted by snuffles713 Oct 28th 2009

I was thinking the exact same thing RedKat82 lol

Posted by PinoyDeathEater Oct 28th 2009

i agree with RedKat82. :D

Really? Wizard - or rather - thing that took the lives of countless witches, wizards and muggles alike, charming? I beg to differ.

Very true headline...

I guess he's sort of charming to delusional people like Bellatrix or people who want to ignore just how evil he really is. He's definitely a character you love to hate, but I hate him more than anything. Voldemort is PURE evil. Harry also grew up without parents and with a family who mentally and physically abused him (thanks to Voldemort), but he grew into a caring, heroic individual unlike Voldy.

Before he became Lord Voldemort, Tom Riddle was a very charismatic, charming young man. Until he killed Hepzibah Smith, and disappeared, he was well liked by everyone he met, people even thought he would be Minister one day. Excluding, of course, Dumbledore and maybe Slughorn.

i'll give them sweeney todd, but voldemort is not charming. !

Posted by becca90 Oct 29th 2009

jkrowling describes him as charming so many times how can u disagree. charming doesnt jus mean good looking or something.

Posted by USAhermione Oct 29th 2009

Charming...hmmm - I can see that when he was younger, just a charming little boy. And he makes everyone THINK he's charming - yay for Voldy!

Posted by the_opaleye Oct 29th 2009

I would say that Tom Riddle was charming. However, Voldemort I always think of as different to Tom Riddle somehow. By the time he is Voldemort, he has completely succumbed to his evil ways and no longer uses the guise of being charming to get what he wants. He has power and his minions now. No need to flatter an old lady like Hepzibah Smith for a pretty cup. Just avada kedavra her straight away instead! No one's gonna argue with him lol and there's no need to cover his tracks anymore.

Tom Riddle.., Voldemort... the same person to me really, only different looks. Of course he's charming, he fooled Slughorn, Hepzibah Smith, The Grey Lady... and probably more people.

Didn't EW already release this list? I remember looking at this exact thing a couple months ago and wikipedia-ing everyone I didn't know. Ohh well, Voldy IS pretty charming.

OMG YOU GUYS NEED TO THINK!!! Of course Voldemort ISN'T Charming now, but BEFORE when he was Teenage Tom Riddle he was DEFFINETLY Charming! In the orphanage scene, he was more like a disconnected, eerie, and downright CREEPY boy.. who knew he was "different". By the time Dumbledore introduced him to another world and he grew up in Hogwarts, he then LEARNED how to be CHARMING to get what he wanted. Not to mention he was described as being handsome, and Frank Dillane played him PERFECTLY. forget about Slughorn, look at ALL the Women Tom Riddle was able to entice, persuade and succum to, because of his personality and is "innocent boy" behavior.. He had a split-personality.. he was more Manipulatively charming than completely EVIL in his teenage years. But after he got denied a job at DADA by Dumbledore, and he vanished for a while, he became LORD VOLDEMORT: An EVIL, Controlling, Murderous, and racist. He's always been racist. so I HAVE to agree with the_opaleye.. that was Spot ON! Tom Riddle was charming, Lord Voldemort wasn't.

I SOOOOO have to argue for Alan Rickman's portrayal of Hans Gruber in Die Hard. Perrrrrfect.

Posted by Kself482 Oct 29th 2009

Compared to Ralph Fiennes, no one's charming - including Voldemort/Tom Riddle.

Posted by Mandie Oct 29th 2009

He was charming as a kid and a little as a teenager, but now nothing is charming about him..

Posted by camken Oct 29th 2009

@mandie he wasnt charming as a child. he was a weirdo. he was only charming as a teenager

Posted by Gryffindor_Seeker_7 Oct 29th 2009

Yeah, re-post. I was like, deja vous! I stand by what I said last time: Voldy Voldy Old and Moldy? CHARMING? NO! Maybe as a kid he was maybe a little charming. No, I take that back. Because handsome does not mean charming. Sick, twisted, murder child doesn't mean charming either.

Posted by iwantorlando05 Oct 29th 2009

I LOVE DEXTER....it's the most underrated show on tv! It's so AWESOME that Voldy is numero uno!

Posted by Slytherin15 Oct 29th 2009

You know, I kinda agree with this story....

Posted by krazykobra29 Oct 29th 2009

didnt this list already come out?

Posted by beccaPhoenix16 Oct 30th 2009

Yeah, I remember them posting this like a month ago.

Posted by iwantorlando05 Oct 30th 2009

EW tends to repeat themselves A LOT! And I think they're also changing their comment boxes so their re-releasing all the old lists.
