Wouldn't it be cool for your school's houses to be named after the four Hogwarts houses? At Oxford University, students are currently on their way to making that happen.
For the first time in 550 years, the Magdalen College Junior Common Room at Oxford has been changed to the Gryffindor common room. From The Telegraph:
Students are now campaigning to rename Christ Church, St Hughs and Merton colleges common rooms after the three other houses in Hogwarts; Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
"Magdalen College embodies the values of courage, daring, nerve and chivalry," third-year student Zoe Tyndall, 21, who proposed the name change.
"These are the characteristics of the Gryffindor house in Harry Potter novels."
The motion was passed with only six students opposing the name change.
Tom Meakin, President-Elect of Magdalen Junior Common Room added: "Magdalen does after all look a little bit like Hogwarts, and not to put any noses out of joint, but my Vice-President does look a little bit like Hagrid."

Thats so EFFIN Cool!! I wish I went to a college like that, but my school is kind of lame. It cares more about athletics than anything. Maybe we can start an intramural Quidditch team though. :P

its great! interesting concidering Christchurchs college dinning hall was what the great hall of the movies was modelled on!!!! and Merton college inspired J R R Tolkien on the lotr when he was a lecturer there (or so I was told when I visited on a school trip)

Wow. Oxford rarely allows anything like this. This is a high honor for Jo. The training and smarts Oxford is, is fully a part of the Potter series. Well done! However, I wonder if WB will have to relax on some copyright stuff to fully make this change smooth. Colleges do marketing too ;-)
Btw, I have always thought scholars and wizards have more in common than most realize. I wonder if Jo would ever teach at Oxford now, lol.

darn I picked the wrong college! I go to Oxford, but not Magdalen - wish my college would do something like this, but it unfortunately isnt on the Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw/Slyt herin shortlist either. Nice that Christ Church is though, seeing as the Great Hall was actually filmed there.

I used to be a pic of a white owl but when i updated my profile with the hogwarts school song it reset to the generic girl pic and I was upset. <p>just add a 0 to the end of 3756 (37560). i think we should do that for now on because its not even an article so it is literally impossible to clog them up but we can still comment</p>
