Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:21:25
I wouldnt worry too much professorlongbottom, this is just a sneek peak. Im sure they will have something different for the REAL movie trailer.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:23:23
omg i just got super excited!!! its a bittersweet moment, as we get to see a preview of an awesome movie, & yet it is the beginning of sadness :(
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:23:35
Wow! I loveeee ittttt!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:24:54
OMG!!!!!! FREAKING AMAZING! I CRIED WHILE WATCHING THIS! WOW! Im just so excited!!!! :) Gotta love this preview. I think that the clips of Dan and Emma dancing and the one of them high-fiving, are so adorable! It looks so much different than previous movies, mostly because theyre not at Hogwarts (of course) and it looks like just an awesome movie... AHHHH CANT WAITTT! (off to watch this again and again!)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:27:11
Sooooooo excited!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:27:37
I now understand the last line by ollivander.
IF ITS TRUE, you really dont stand a chance
Hes probably saying if its true Voldemort has the elder wand, Harry doesnt stand a chance
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:28:28
Well that definitely showed some new stuff. We saw Harry and Hermione dancing, and that was weird, not sure when in the movie that will be...and who was that dancing with all the clapping? They both had long hair, so I dont think it was Ron. But I am assuming all the dancing was happening at the wedding. Looks like here will be some pretty cool chase scenes. I love when Harry and Hermione high-five, thats so cute! =)

I just love it, its making me both amazingly happy and incredibly sad all at once. Its just so beautiful!! Maybe I am being a little bit too emotional about it. :P but I cant wait to see the Godrics Hollow scenes, they were my favourite in the book. And Im also lookin forward to seeing the added dancing scene.

Im hyperventilating right now! This is going to be so epic!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 18:55:38
ITS AMAZING!!! The shot of Hermione during the splinching scene is so perfectly creepy!!! I think her hands are up because shes casting the protective charms around them! The UNDESIRABLE NO. 1 posters look so AWESOME!! The snatcher scene looks brilliant!! EVERYTHING LOOKS AMAZING!!! I thought the scene with Harry and Hermione dancing would be at the wedding but its clearly when theyre camping after Ron leaves! HOLY CRAP!!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:00:31
OMG OMG OMG that looks...just...wow! How can I wait a whole year?!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:01:36
Love it. The only question I have is why is Harry laying down on the ground during the splenching scene?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:02:06

YAY!! it was amazing and i cannot wait to see more :)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:05:03
The part where Hermione has blood on her hands is the scene where Ron splinches himself.
This is so amazing. I cant wait till next November! Does anyone know if John Williams has confirmed that he will be returning to do the music? I really hope he does...
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:05:09
LOL the first time i saw the one yesterday, when hermione raises her hands, I was like whats with the will wonka gloves?
lol but anyway, this looks AMAZING! i am so excited!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:08:09
About the H/Hr dancing thing - are we sure thats in the tent after Ron leaves? It has steps, would the tent have steps inside? I was thinking more along the lines of the tenty thing the wedding was held in...but then again they are not dressed for the wedding. UGH, WHY are they dancing???
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:10:00
Does anyone know if theyre going to have the young marauders, lily , and snape in Part II?? Becasue Ive looked online and I cant find anything about them on the cast list!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:10:30
they were practicing the dancing
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:10:51
Oh my gosh, the splinching scene looks AMAZING! Rons skin ... it is so creepy in the screencaps! I love love love love love love this! I cant believe we still have another year to wait! Itll all be worth it though :) Everything looks so good! I was annoyed with the H/Hr dance at first - but now, I could care less! We all know Hermione loves Ron! Theyll have their kiss
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:11:46
Im glad to see why the trio was running in the forest now. If the rumors are true, thats probably about where the first film will end, with them getting captured. Though Im sure it will be fine in the finished film, Im hoping that they deliver the right tone for the scene in which Harry and Hermione are dancing in the tent, so as to not take away from Hermiones feelings towards Ron. That its used more as a comfort for Hermione with her loss of Ron more than anything else. Since other reports have detailed many Ron and Hermione moments, Im sure it will be fine.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:13:35
THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!! I cried when I watched this!!!! ITS GOING TO BE SOOO AWESOME!!!!!!! OMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:14:41
Great trailer and for once we see Snape, ok, well the back of him anyways. With all the flash bulbs he must be getting introduced as Hogwarts next Headmaster.I think that Hermione and Harry high five is off screen.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:16:19
Ha its so weird to read all of the comments when i havent seen the trailer, no fault of my own. . my spekers are unhooked, and im going to have the dvd soon anyways, so ill just wait like two weeks lol,it sucks to have to wait though!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:18:45

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:29:00
I hope Mugglecast does an episode soon!!! I would love to hear their opinions on this!!

It actually looks amaaazing! But Im so sad Deathly Hallows is almost here... Im going to cry when the day comes.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:29:55
OMG I AM SO EXCITED.
Also, this is sort of lame I know, but if you have a twitter, trend #deathlyhallows. B)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:31:59
Hmmm I still think that the 5 second Imax one for HBP was better... It gave away the WHOLE Storyline!!! Joking. This Trailer is AMAZING!!! Its ALOT more then I expected... I only expected stuff like the sneak peeks of HBP on the OOTP DVD
I SQUEALED HARDCORE!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! I know yall will talk about it on MuggleCast :D great finds!! OMOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG IM SO EXCITED!! I do believe I saw Jamie Campbell Bower, from the back anyway? I dunno, but I LOVE ITT! Cant wait to see what yall will have to say about it! Btw for those who have been saying that the HBP DVD is advertised as coming out on December 6 tonight, its saying December 8 to me.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:40:40
Its brilliant, and beautiful and all, but Im going to play devils advocate on this one. Im worried that the fact that the script was put into production post-writers strike is going to lessen its quality. Also, was that Lovegood or Ollivander speaking, because Im not sure.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:40:42
YAY!!! im sO0o0o0o0o0o excited. i really enjoyed this sneak peek and yet it didnt reveal too much, which i like, there is still a ton we can only imagine in our heads! cant wait for the trailers!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:41:26
Was that Jamie Campbell Bower aka Grindlewald during the scene with the flashing cameras?! Whoever it was, he looked too young to be Snape. But I dont see how its Grindlewald that doesnt make any sense. BUT THIS TRAILERS WAS SO AMAZING!!! I cant stop watching it!! I love how the teaser starts right after they stop talking! It gives me chills everytime!! And Olivander talking about the Deathly Hallows is bone-chilling! LOVE IT!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:42:44
Now I cant sleep! It looks really good! Im wondering about the Harry and Hermion dance thing. Im pretty sure its just a friendship thing, something the directors have thrown in as a plot device for the whole, "Ron thinks Hermione fancies Harry and Harry fancies Hermione. thing." R/Hr won the shipping wars. Who cares?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:45:20
If these scenes only pertain to DH Part 1, then the movie must stop after the trio is snatched, because the trailer shows the Shell Cottage and Ollivander, both of which are after theyre snatched/go to Malfoy Manor.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:47:44
The lighting is so dark at the end of it that I can barely see anything!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:48:37
@unwillingmuggle: The quality of the script can NOT be lessened. Kloves cares so much about this series AND considering its Harry Potter...it would take some purposeful deceit to lessen its quality. Its just amazing! Its definitely Ollivander because Harry asks him about the Hallows at the beginning and Ollivander is answering his question! His voice sounded so creepy!! I cant stop watching this!!! Its so weird to see a trailer with NO HOGWARTS or NO school robes or NO Hogwarts Express!!! This is definitely a completely different film just like the book!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:55:43
WOW!!! We got to see Harry taking out the resurrection stone in the woods, which Im pretty sure is right before he goes to sacrifices himself because he looks upset. AND right after that, hes in the graveyard looking at his parents grave. Im a bit confused about the dancing...I see that this takes place in the tent, but it cant be after Ron has left because Harry and Hermione would not look so happy. When were they ever that happy while on the run? Anyways, it looks really adorable. The running looks amazing and so intense. The very last scene, when we see Harry with long (and very good-looking) hair looking scared...what scene do you think thats from?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:57:05
I have to wait another year noooooo. I am excited to see it ... but then it will be over. Im happy and sad at the same time. I cant wait.

I. Am. So. Excited. !!!!!!!! I think its cool they had the dancing scene! It looks like it happens in the tent while theyre camping, but it could be the wedding too; its hard to tell for sure. Im the stereotypical impatient Harry Potter fan, so Im eagerly awaiting more sneak peaks!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:57:59
Wow, this has gotten me so excited for the movie!!!!! A bit less than a year left lol.
I have the same question as horsetrek though, whats the deal with Harry lying down? Im trying to figure out whats happening/where its taking place/what just happened.
As for Harry and Hermione dancing, my first thought was that it was being filmed for the lake scene, where Ron has to break the locket and sees "fake Harry" and "fake Hermione" kissing and such.
But then again, if that were the case, I think theyd be filming it in front of blue/green screen.... I dunno though.
But I absolutely loved the trailer!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 19:59:25
@ver: The part where it shows them dancing is a behind-the-scenes shot. Im sure they wont be happy in the actual movie scene. But it looks sweet. I think the shot of Harry at the end could be from the Silver Doe scene because hes wearing that same sweater in the first picture that was released a few months ago. Hes probably all shocked when he first sees it or maybe thats his reaction when the Doe disappears.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 20:00:52
OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! excuse the caps, but AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! I CANT WAIT!!! *breathes* back to watching....
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 20:02:18
Well, you can see Harry fidgeting while hes lying on the ground, so hes obviously conscious. I reckon they just disapparated from the Ministry and he ended up on the ground. As for the last shot of Harry, Im thinking its the Silver Doe scene. Hes looking ahead and he looks curious.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 20:02:30
ZOMG! AMAZING!

hpninjaskills:
AH! Youre right, and Harrys wearing the same outfit in the next trailer clip when hes leaning over Ron whos been splinched. Hermiones outfit looks a bit un-like what she would normally wear; perhaps theyre wearing their potion clothes?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 20:10:51
Fact: The panel on the next MuggleCast is going to spontaneously combust with all this new info on Deathly Hallows.

GGGAAAHHH!!! That looks so good!!!!!! Oh my goodness!! This one might actaully be good!!!...From what I saw, I love the way its filled and then colors and stuff..I cant wait!

squeee! some people are asking who the two people dancing are; i do believe its fleur and bill. if you watch the video in full screen and pause at 0:40 and look just behind arthur, george is standing beside fred with a bandage wrapped around his head. Also, Ginny is wearing her gold dress! :) at least, i think that was Ginny beside Arthur.

The people dancing is DEFINITELY at the wedding. The girl in white is Fleur aka the Bride and the Guy is Bill Weasley!! The wedding looks amazing! I love Mrs. Weasleys dress!!!

iloveorlando, I think that Harry and Hermione dancing is really in the movie because of the recent interview with David Heyman in which he says that theyve added a new scene of that description.
PotterYay, thats very observant! I stared at that screencap for a while and didnt notice any of what you mentioned (besdies the fact that it was Fleur and Bill).
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 20:37:25
IT LOOOKS AMAZING.
I CANT WAIT FOR THE MOVIE TO COME OUT!!!!

I watched this hours ago when it first came up, and the euphoria of it still has yet to abate.
I cannot WAIT for this movie!!!!
What I like is, being a twitter addict, we know what they have filmed or not by the casts tweets --- and seeing the scenes they tweeted about suddenly in a sneak peak trailer is kind of awesome. =)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:05:26
YES ITS BACK UP!!! I missed you baby! This trailer is sick!! I just showed it to my brother whos a moderate Potter fan (hes seen all the movies and read all the books, but hes not obsessed with it) and all he could say about it was how Hot Emma Watson was....but whatever! I think the WHOLE thing is amazing!!! I just love it! The HP trailers are always brilliant, but I cant to get the official theatrical trailer! Its going to be insane!!! I wonder what movie it will be in front of?!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:11:15
Garchomp Jesus, I need new pants. Ive one complaint, though. The title of this news piece says that the DH trailer was in High-Def. This, of course, is not the case. This is poor video qaulity. Low-res would be a kind term for it. Just a request - if youre going to advertise anything as "high-def", make sure that its at the VERY least in 720p. Otherwise people will be misled, like myself. I was expecting a beautiful 1080p piece of wonderment. Im somewhat disappointed now. :/
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:13:28
@Cena: Hey, compared to what we had BEFORE this, Id say this video is pretty darn High Def. x)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:14:00
@Cena: They had a high-def one up before, but it got taken down by WB.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:14:27
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FREAKIN OUTTTTTTTTT
who is the person they showed from the back, who they were taking pictures of?!?! omg but that looks INCREDIBLE
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:14:41
You want to know what Im gonna say about the sneak peek. WAY AWESOME! I like it! Especially the running and for once I finally see Hermiones hands bleeding. I mean how cool is that. The movie is gonna be very intense. I just know it...
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:15:30
@hpninjaskills: I shall concede to this. *shrug*
@iwantorlando0 5: What, is WB the new 4Kids? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:17:56
@iwantorlando05 my brother reacted the same way, lol. and he said, "all they are doing is running around in the woods, its like f-in Fern Gully". but i think its great. :)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:25:37
@apple_09: Lol @ your brother. Ferngully!! Thats hilarious. My bro actually loved the trailer, but he was pissed when he found out he had to wait until 2010 and 2011 to see it. I just thought it was funny that the first comment out of his mouth was about Hermione/Emmas hotness. And then he proceeded to argue with me about how hot she was instead of paying attention to the trailer. But I cant wait to see it!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:42:14
wowww, this looks really good. when it all comes together im sure we wont be dissapointed. i dont know about you guys but at the end of part 2 im going to be bawling my eyes out, i grew up with this series and watching it come to life and its going to bittersweet when its all over. CANT WAIT :)

it was great to see this! there were two dancing scenes - one of Bill and Fleur at their wedding and one of (I thought) Harry and Hermione in the tent. the tent one could be after Ron comes back w/the radio and they are recognizing peoples voices from the report - romulus, remus, etc. - remember? They were pretty happy then :-) I remember when I first read the books thinking that they felt similar to the French Revolution - people living on the run in the woods, etc. The movie feels the same way. JKR has a strong affinity to France, so it makes sense. Cant wait until this comes out! Im US-based, so I wonder if itll come out for our holiday of Thanksgiving in the end of Nov?? and is Part II coming out on some significant date - like Harrys birthday?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:50:05
Anyone got any ideas who the person getting photographed is? I have no idea. Maybe someone at the Ministry?
And what is Harry holding in that one scene? Someone said it was the Resurrection Stone, but it looks too big. Is it one of the pieces of the Currently-Not-Existing-In -Movie-World Siriuss mirror?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:50:39
*Jaw Drops!* Just seen it ! BRILLIANT! AMAZING! I cant believe it .One more year and well see it!Cant wait it looks amazing so far, even if it is the a preview trailer.( The dancing scene with Harry and Hermione looks really sweet.Dont freak out Ron/Hermione shippers its just to heat up the tension with the FAKE love triangle between them, Ron and Herm will still have their kiss) Showed my little cousin the trailer and he says it looks action packed and he is eager to see it. LOVE IT!!!!(=
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 21:51:15
What do you think this movie will be rated? From the looks of this, probably - HOPEFULLY! - PG13... but I agree withmattydoga, I want a live MuggleCast, too! -- dont forget: if you use Twitter, make sure to use #deathlyhallows in all of your Tweets! Lets make it a trending topic!

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! So EXCITING! It feels weird seeing them wearing muggle clothes instead instead of school robes. I especially liked the part where they are running. Oh the adrenaline!!! DH will be EPIC!!!!!!

@ Kitkat1327: Harry is holding the TWO-WAY mirror. Im assuming hes going to get it from Grimmauld Place. They can still make it work in the films because Harry would take it after he saw the inscription on the back about his dad. And Aberforth can still end up with the other one if Mundungus steals stuff from Grimmauld Place and we already know they have cast Mundungus. Im still trying to figure out who the guy getting his picture taken. People have said its Grindlewald or Snape. Neither of those sound right. The person is too small to be Snape and why would it be Grindlewald?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 22:15:20
@iwantorlando05: I agree. Im positive its not Snape or Grindelwald. I reckon its either Thicknesse or Scrimgeour. The shot of the eyes must belong to the man getting his picture taken, too. It could either be Guy Henry (Thicknesse) or Bill Nighy (Scrimgeour).
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 22:19:06
THIS JUST OCCURRED TO ME!! The guy at the beginning getting his picture taken is SCRIMGEOUR whos being played by Bill Nighy in this film!! We havent seen a picture of him in character yet and Scrimgeour is supposed to have hair like a Lions mane! It makes sense! Its definitely SCRIMGEOUR!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 22:19:43
There was a picture of Griphook in a bed, in what I assume is Shell Cottage. (or at least I think it was an image of Griphook) Does that mean the split comes after the events at Malfoy Manor?

Do you think the guy getting photographed might be a young Dumbledore? Just putting that out there.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 22:24:35
@ hpninjaskills: I posted that thing about Scrimgeour before I read your post, but I think its Scrimgeour now too. I forgot about Picknesse. It could be him too. Its definitely someone in the ministry though.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 22:29:52
Is that Ollivanders (John Hurt) voiceover talking about the Deathly Hallows? In the book he had no knowledge of them. What does this mean for Xenophilius Lovegood? Im not sure how I feel about it right now but anything that gives us more John Hurt is great.

I hope someone recreates that #1 Undesirable poster of Harry. Thats fantastic. I have to have that...hehe

Guys, this is promoting both parts. It gives us no more info on the split than we already have (from Joshua Herdmans mouth, remember, it is right after the Trio is captured by the Snatchers, though it could change). The ending title is "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 - November 2010, Part 2 July 2011". Footage came from both movies. This is not a theatrical trailer for Part 1. It is a sneak peak of Parts 1 ane 2.

I bet hermione has blood on her hands because she was helping ron!

i really wish Warner Brothers release a full blast HD version of this teaser..

For anyone who cant tell, the people dancing are Bill and Fleur. You can tell from this screencap. http://mugglenet.com/view er/dhtrailerdec09.php?num ber=12

I loved going through all the screencaps. I caught so many things, like the blood on Hermiones hands, the Undesirable No. 1 posters, and Harry looking and the shard of Siriuss mirror, which was really cool.
About the H/Hr scene, I think its probably after Ron leaves. But it would also make sense for it to be before, and to have Ron walk in on them and fuel the whole Hermione-likes-Harry-bett er-which-is-just-one-more -reason-I-should-leave thing Ron has going on.
What I love about this trailer is that we can see how detailed and thorough the movies will (so far as I can tell) be. Go Yates!

I hope Warner releases a full blast HD version of this video..
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 23:31:36
Feel like poeple keep talking about the dancing between H/Her. Its dancing... itll fine. Their not kissing, their letting loose. ANd the steps are in the tent cause its the same tent from Gof.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-05 23:42:55
Heres what I think: the split is rumored and kinda confirmed to be right where the Snatchers catch the trio. I think that theyre only having Ollivander explain the Deathly Hallows because they want to REFRESH our memories. (Shell Cottage is going to be in Part Two) If theyre doing it that way, I have no problem with it. Does it really matter if Ollivander knows about them? As long as Xeno explains it all first, Im not bothered.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 00:16:52
OH BLEEP YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D I think these scenes are covering Parts 1 and 2, not just 1. AHHHH!! It needs to come out right NOW!!!! :D :D :D
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 00:24:48
I think Ollivander probably knows about the Deathly Hallows to give John Hurt something more to do. It was probably a concession because he probably wasnt too interested in returning if they didnt give him a big scene. Or, like someone mentioned, they split the explanation of the Hallows between the two movies so that non-readers wont be too confused/bring everyone up to speed.

OMG. I am SO excited! This movie looks like its going to be amazing! AAAHHH. WHY ANOTHER YEAR?!?!?!

THE BEST.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 02:07:14

Ok. Here comes my reaction when I watch a HP-trailer for the first time:
Partly sqeeed and Loved it, partly: Oh nOOO and hated it.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 02:45:41
I would put money down on this film being completely void of the scene at the Lovegood house. The only central role that scene plays is the introduction of the Hallows, and if Olivander is telling Harry about them, then the scene becomes quite unnecessary to the advancement of the plot.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 03:08:00
I cant wait! :D
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 03:18:50
If the trailers & pics are starting now, how much footage are we gonna see before the actual movie releases O_o? Is that Ollivander talking about Hallows? He isnt supposed to know about them! (or otherwise Voldemort mightve known about them). Hm, I wonder who the guy is who everyone is taking pics of.. I first thought it was Snape, but now with better quality/screencaps I see that it isnt Snape.. http://mugglenet.com/view er/dhtrailerdec09.php?num ber=24, is that the house of Batilda? I think it looks similar to the Potters house... And what is Harry holding here? --> http://mugglenet.com/view er/dhtrailerdec09.php?num ber=30. Haha, this would be great for a caption contest: http://mugglenet.com/view er/dhtrailerdec09.php?num ber=40.

On picture 8, theres Harry, Hermione and... Hagrid and Lupin?? I can see even Molly, I think. What scene is that? I thought they were running in the woods when the Snatchers were chasing them, but why would Hagrid and Lupin be there?
But yeaaah, that was GREAT! Im sooooo excited!

The EYES are Scrimgeours eyes. I am a 100% certain, because Im a huge fan of Bill Nighys work and he plays Scrimgeour in the last chapter. Bill Nighy does the EXACT same eyebrow raise in Pirates Of The Caribbean 3 during the face-off scene before the ending battle.
I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 07:40:13
The scene with Dan and Emma dancing is behinde the scenes for theres a camera in into. The old guy Harrys talking to is Ollivander because in the backround there are shells. Its at the shell cottage.

PEOPLE!!! Its Harry who got splinched! Theres a shot of him lying on the ground, AND HIS FEET ARE MISSING!!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 09:27:46
...AHHHHHHHHH OH MY GOSH!!!! I seriously love this. And although I am really upset that this means that Harry Potter is coming to an end, it is just so cool!!! Oh, and Im a bit slow. I just figured out today that Hermiones hands are covered in blood. And, it was probably Bill and Fleur who were dancing at the wedding. Heh. But did anyone see Harry in the wedding scene? What happened to Polyjuice potion?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 09:41:38
@Firestorm: It is SO not Harry who got splinced. Thats not even in the book either. Its RON. HES the one lying on the ground while Hermione has bloody hands. Yes, Harry was lying down too, but he was fidgeting and he has both feet. You can also see where Ron got splinched too if you look in the screecaps.

AHHHHH, SO EXCITING! Im wicked psyched for this movie.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 10:29:07
I have only one problem, why does it look like Ollivander is the one telling harry about the hallows instead of Mr.Lovegood?
Besides that, I started tearing up in a good way. I cant tell much from this trailer, but Im just crying because it feels like the end all over again. But besides that I am sooooooooo excited for this movie!!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 10:31:18
I really thought that Harry and Hermione would be dancing during the wedding. But it looks like they are not... I love it when Im wrong ;)

I am absolutely and totally in awe, not only at the superb quality of the scenes presented, but also that we were given a trailer at all, considering the eternities we had to wait for the first Half-Blood Prince trailer. They are much farther along in filming that I would have expected, or even hoped. Now that we are ever closer to the "final installment," it is indeed a bittersweet feeling, much like the feeling experienced when the DH book approached. Still, judging by this brief view of the the film, I am incredibly excited! :)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 11:15:48
That trailer is amazing. It looks like these are going to be two really wonderful final instalments to the series. Also, I have to say, I just love David Heyman. Everytime he speaks its like, I have that extra bit of faith that the films will be good. Hes so passionate about this.

ahhhhh so much makes sense now! Thanks for the better quality version! I love it, Im really excited. Deathly Hallows was my favourite book, and although Im generally not a big fan of the movies (because books are better) this already has me excited and looks just top notch. YAH! party hard for the end of the series!

THIS IS GREAT!!!! soo exciting but does anyone else think thats dumbledore as a kid when we see the cameras flashing and the person walking??
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 12:23:23
I live in Jordan (thats in the Middle East) and yesterday I went to watch 2012 (sick visuals but ridiculous in every other aspect.) Theres a Virgin megastore in the mall... I walk in... and lo and behold, tens of HBP posters all over the place.. a big circular DVD stand in the middle full of.. All EDITONS OF THE HBP DVDs!! My jaw dropped. I didnt know we were getting it before you people! But we DID! Anyway @hpninjaskills: I dont know why Harrys legs look short to me, and end in stubs rather than feet :s But I get you, in the next shot its clear that Ron is splinched and Harry is okay. I wondered too why Harrys wearing his Hogwarts uniform, but its turns out theyre dressed in the formal adult uniforms of the ministry employees they impersonate, right? @mallo7440: yeah if Ollivander tells Harry this stuff then I wonder what Xeno Lovegoods role is? Cool stuff anyway. But where do you think Hermione is when shes walking alone in a street toward that building?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 12:27:02
It is an awesome trailer but just so you guys know the dance scene in the tent is Harry and Hermione the other one is Hermione and Ron you can tell he has red hair look more closely!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 12:32:49
Actually upon closer examination the dancing couple at the wedding are Fleur and Bill the girl has blonde hair and Hermiones dress at the wedding is red.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 13:13:21
The chase in the woods looks so crap. Im not happy with Yates at all. He such a poor and amateur director. He cant do action or emotions. He cant build tension or suspense and he really sucks at scaring the auidence. Mike Newell would be a great director for DH and much, much better than Yates. Yates has been kiddifying the last 2 films to the level of PS/COS. Im worried for DH and this trailer doesnt help much
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 13:14:06
The man getting photographed looks a lot like Snape. I think its when its announced that hes the new headmaster.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 13:38:39
SO AWESOME! When I first saw it I got all excited and when Harry was all like do you know about the deathly hallows I started hypervenilating cuz I was all like ITS REAL!!!!!! Anyway I flipped out and WANT MORE!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 14:18:31
what the heck? it was awesome, except for the fact that the movie was supposed to be more correct to the book, more detailed, so why is harry asking olivander about the deathly hallows, and why is olivander telling him about them? in the book, olivander doesnt know what harry is talking about, except the elder wand! they could have kept it right! lovegood tells harry about the DHs! why cast xenophilius to be in the movie if they take away his most important part! ugh!
the rest of the trailer looks awesome though! cant wait for the movie!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 14:32:36
@Fishbowl Asumming the spilt will be pre-Malfoy Manor then they probaly have Olivander talking about the hallows to refresh people mermories (since its gonna be almost a year between part 1 and 2)
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 14:35:15
OMG!! It looks awesome! Can not wait!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 15:17:06
mixed reactions...
movie looks epic and the real world setting looks to be a winner for the movie. As a book reader though i dont like how the friendship of Harry/Hermione is being stressed again. The last few movies have slid Ron to the background almost and the friendship between him and harry needs to be stressed a bit more. Non-book readers dont even understand why Harry and Hermione arent together because they spend the whole movies together.
The bond between Harry and Ron isnt portrayed as it is in the book :/
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 15:44:17
Yeah Firestorm, the action segments in 2012 were awesome but the story-line was about as cheesy as you can get... but onto Harry Potter. I cant believe that some of you are already complaining (and yes, you are complaining. From dictionary.com: "to express dissatisfaction, pain, uneasiness, censure, resentment, or grief; find fault: He complained constantly about the noise in the corridor." or about the Harry Potter films) before youve even seen a REAL TRAILER!!! Obviously this IS NOT a trailer that is going to be shown in theaters. Its just what it says it is, "The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows preview trailer found on the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD." PREVIEW TRAILER, not theatrical trailer!!! Does anyone really think that they would put a real trailer on a dvd for a movie that is not coming out for basically another year? That may be a stupid question, but its common sense. (Which is something that the world is lacking but thats another subject.) All Im asking is that people (like most of yall have done) hold their criticisms until after theyve seen the movie, instead of complaining about it when they havent seen it in the first place. All I know is that these movies are going to be freakin awesome, and well worth the wait.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 15:56:59
OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG I CANT WAINT TILL NEXT NOVEMBER. AND WHY IS HARRY AND HERMIONE DANCING. WIERD/ BUT IT WAS SO FREAKING EPIC. CANT WAIT TILL THE NEXT MUGGLECAST EPISODE ON WEDNESDAY.

OMGOMGOMG That was AMAZING!!!! LOVE the scene with Harry and Hermione high-fiving.....its just so happy ^__^.
But yeah, why does Hermione have blood on her hands? And why is Harry the one on the ground? I feel like the only time that scene is plausible is after the MoM episode, but then Ron would be the one on the ground......
But OMG!!! So awesome!! ^__^

MIND BLOWING! I was on the edge of my seat the entire clip!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 18:01:02
Just because the clip has Ollivander relating what he knows about the Deathly Hallows, hbo112, doesnt mean that Xeno Lovegood wont tell them earlier in the film. And, Rutu, Ron is shown lying on the ground with his shoulder splinched.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 18:21:15
that was spectacular
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 19:26:21
Ron in the streets looking back...pedestrian coming across is probably Mafalda Hopkirk...she is wearing the clothes that Hermione wears in the next scene with Rons blood on her hands. I hope they hit hard on that repetition and have lots of Hermiones blood on Rons hands after Malfoy Manor in the next scene...well maybe not lots...but I hope Kloves makes it really dramatic for Ron to be scared hes lost her. I am soooo looking forward to Malfoy Manor, Pettigrews death scene and the torture and saving of Hermione....OK, step back...Part I first!!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 19:32:22
Im sure Lovegood will tell them about the Hallows too. But in the book, Lovegood only tells them what the HALLOWS ARE, but I dont think he knows what they do. It kind of makes sense for Ollivander to know, but then again thats kind of scary since Voldemort was torturing him for information for over a year. But I like the fact that Ollivander tells them about it. Xeno will still be in the movie...hes the one that convinces Hermione that the Hallows are real.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 19:56:45
@HeRonfan: Youre looking forward to that?! Thats part in the book is so scary and intense I could hardly breathe. Hermione is my fave character, so watching her get tortured and seeing Ron and Harrys reaction to it will be very hard to watch it. But I agree with you, I hope they do it right. In the fan/paparazzi pics from the Shell Cottage scenes you can see that Emma has a cut on her neck, so I guess that means Bellatrix will hold the knife to her throat like in the book.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 20:30:28
Firestorm: Im so glad you already have the DVD! I love with when countries that are normally (and unfairly) shuffled to the back of the line actually get something lovely first! :)
iwantorlando: I agree with you, 100%. Guys, seeing Olivander discussing the Deathly Hallows in no way means Xenophilius wont be the first to discuss it with them. In most of the Harry Potter stories we have several adults tell them about... the Philosophers Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Sirius Black, Triwizard Tournament, Voldemorts Secret Weapon, etc.
Weve never seen a film/read a book where Harry got information from only ONE source. :) So God rest ye merry, Hippogryfs! (Ill even say it: Let nothing ye dismay!) No need to fret.
I love the clip of the dancing between Harry and Hermoine, it was so light-hearted and joyful! I may very well have been proved wrong, and Im not fussed about it a bit, this looks lovely. I love the clip at the wedding with Bill and Fleur dancing! Just what a Wizard wedding should be.
I think the man being photographed is Snape when he is appointed Headmaster at Hogwarts, because I remember the trios fury when they found out. I dont think were being shown too much already, because as is displayed in all the previous comments, we dont know a ton from it... it raises far more questions than answers! Huzzah, says I.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 21:41:24
Gosh, I cry everytime I watch this. Its so stressful to think that it will come to an end soon.
But amazing in general! Im even more excited now.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 22:23:10
Hmmm... Im not sure if the man being photographed is Snape. His hair has always been really sleek, and in the preview the guys hair looks really ragged. Thats just what I see.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-06 22:54:17
Gryffindor_Seeker_7, that is the tent, actually; it strongly resembles the one in GOF, which is, in fact, the one theyre in. It may have been re-designed, since it is a new director and all. But yeah, apparently Harry and Hermione are dancing in the tent, alone, after Ron has abandoned them. It looks very authentic and...nice. I think itll work.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 03:23:28
@pantera2012: Were thinking its either Scrimgeour or Thicknesse...aka the new ministers of magic in DH.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 03:43:13
The person whose eyes we see is Thicknesse. Google "Guy Henry" (The guy who is playing Thicknesse) and youll immediately see the similarity.
Awesome video. Though not as action packed as the previous movies.
But still. a treat to watch.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 04:03:33
In the scene where the trio and the others are running in the
forest, where is that in the book? I dont recall that part. The trailer looks awesome, I cant wait till the movies come out, it will be epic!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 06:33:54
@slantee2006: The teaser trailers are always more emotional and kind of intriguing instead of action-packed. Im sure all the action will be in the theatrical trailer...everyone who has read DH knows its non-stop action.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 07:43:34
@iammikerodriguez : I think those are the snatchers chasing the trio

I find the trailer brilliant and moving. Obviously they are working non stop on these next two films. I find it wonderfull to know that they are expanding just a bit beyond the books to let us see perhaps some of Hogwarts while the trio is off on their search including Lunas abduction. I not one to venture far from JK written word but DH will be all the better if we get to see them try a steal the sword of Gryfindor and raise some hell at Hogwarts!

@iwantorlando05 : Yeah, thats right. But I maybe they really ARE trying to keep this movie subtle. Theyll stress more on emotions in this one, cause the 2nd parts got a lot of action...

This trailer looks AWESOME!!! Cant wait for the movie to come out!!! :) And the screencaps are a great way of enjoying the trailer even more!! :D
Which brings me to my sort of odd question... Could anyone identify the street in the 36th screencap?(http://mugglen et.com/viewer/dhtrailerde c09.php?number=36)
There was a bet made about where in London it is, but nobody knows for sure. Anybody here knows? :)
Thanks!

Awsome! I cant wait!

HeRonfan, very well spotted! I knew that in the splinching scene they were wearing the costumes of the ministry employees they impersonate, but I never noticed Mafalda Hopkirk! Fort_Two, I agree about the chase in the woods being kind of crappy, but you never know what it will look like in the final edit. I mean HP teaser trailers tend to look nothing like the movie, and this is not even a teaser trailer! So lets just give Yates a chance. Dont worry about DH I think its in good hands. I think Yates can be great when he wants to, and it seems they are raising the bar for these two movies. I wouldnt judge anything based on this sneak peak. But you know, a wood chase does seem a bit cliche and amateur as you put it. Especially in a HP movie. I mean what happened to apparition? But then again, I feel that in the movie only one of the trio (Harry or Hermione) will be able to apparate and take the other two with them side-along, so the three of them need to be together to escape any scene. Because in HBP it looked like only Dumbledore and the Death Eaters could apparate, and Apparition lessons were never mentioned. Thats just my theory!

phoenixmaster, can a news post please pass by without you assaulting one of the commenters? They were just voicing an opinion about the director. David Yates IS my favorite director, too, but not everyone agrees! Newell was GREAT as well. He raised the Harry Potter series up to the next level, just like the Goblet of Fire book was the turning point were the books became very dark and more serious and adult-like. Dont you remember how the Order of the Phoenix movie was a disappointment to many moviegoers because it wasnt as good as the last one. That was never MY opinion but I must have heard that same comment a hundred times. Now, after OotP and HBP, David Yates is perfect for the finale, and Im sure he will do a fantastic job in DH. Fort_Two, allow me to remind phoenixmaster that you didnt base your opinion of Yates skills in action scenes on just a SNIPPET. Fort_Two has seen two MOVIES, two DOZEN TRAILERS, AND this SNIPPET of David Yates work on HP before making the comment. I bet that was difficult for you to figure out. Oh, are you still almost baffled?

MissImpertinence, you stated "Guys, seeing Olivander discussing the Deathly Hallows in no way means Xenophilius wont be the first to discuss it with them." I agree with you. Besides, Harry cant be asking Ollivander "What do you know about the Deathly Hallows?" unless hes heard about them from Xeno Lovegood first.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 15:12:46
It is Scrimgeour with the cameras. What does Ollivander say at the end?!
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 15:14:44
To Firestorm and Phoenixmaster: we wouldnt have nearly as much fun if it werent for that phrase at the bottom of this mugglenet post: "Let us know what you think about the trailer in the comments!" Lets just say that so long as the comments arent personal, we shouldnt fuss too much. "Miss Impertinence, you snarky interfering twitchy pock-marked excuse for a cow! I wave my private parts at your Aunties! Yer muzzer wuz a amster and yer fazzer smelt of elderberreez!"
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 15:19:38
(though the above insult would probably sooner earn my amusement and friendship for life, contrary broad that I am!)
Plum_cake: Thanks, and the observation that Harry wouldnt even know to ask about the Deathly Hallows without talking to Xenophilius first is spot-on.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 15:44:12
plum_cake 25 , Good thinking
I agree with you
Hes saying " what do you know about the deathly hallows" as if he wants to know more or something,, perhaps ..
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 16:36:06
Phoenixmaster: Agreed; after all, many wizards knew about the Elder Wand, or Deathstick, or Wand of Destiny.. it makes sense that the wand would be the one most remember, since the allure of being invincible is a common vice in mankind. The other two just arent as flashy, so they fade into the background. (Though Ive coveted Harrys cloak from the start.. but Im a dreadful snoop, so it would probably be bad for my character..)

@slantee2006: This trailer has stuff from both parts of DH...I think.

This is what OLLIVANDER says: "It is rumored there are three, to possess them all is to make oneself immortal. But few truly believe that such objects exist. If its true, you really dont stand a chance."
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 18:32:43
How can they screw this up already!!! I swear, They have got Olivander talking about the Deathly Hallows. He didnt know about them, all he knew about was the wand of destiny. I had my problems with films and I try see the good in them, but they just keep lowering my expectations. I have said it before and Ill say it again, the films were written for the individual book and not the series. Its just sad, I mean does that mean they leave out Lunas dad and that Voldemort knows of the Hallows, cause he shouldnt. I screws up the a great story.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 18:39:07
I agree with many of you that Ollivander will be somewhat of a refresher in DH part 2, emphasizing the deathly hallows, which Xenophilius Lovegood touches base on in part 1 of the film. What the filmmakers might decide to do is have Xenophilius begin discussing the Deathly Hallows and then have Ollivander reconfirm any questions the trio might have in regards to them, that way the entire deathly hallows subplot is put in the forefront rather than have it drown within the intricate plot development of the film (as the Half-Blood Princes somewhat did in HBP). The reality is that Xenophilius Lovegood was casted, and the studio has already released pictures of him in his title scene. I am pretty sure that he will touch base on the Deathly Hallows, regardless of the fact that Ollivander appears in this preview discussing them significantly, probably stealing some of Xenophiliuss lines. The reason is that Yates is known for cutting out characters who he feels are insignificant to the film plot, and the fact that he did cast Xenophilius is a strong signifier that he will have an important role to play in the film; otherwise--like Scrimgeour and Mundungus Fletcher in previous films--he would have been cut.

MissImpertinence: WaHAHAHA! You, Miss, are amazing! Hi-larious :) phoenixmaster, I wasnt insinuating that youre impolite or anything, but I felt you have a knack to disagree, all the freaking time, you have to disagree with someone and make a snide comment to them.. but you know, your reply to me proved me wrong, so just forget I said anything. Quarrel settled. Thanks to our snarky interfering twitchy pock-marked cow of a pacifier! About Ollivander: look at Harrys face. Hes affected by Dobbys death (hes been crying). This is how its gonna be: Xeno relates the story of the Deathly Hallows to the trio, but being the incredible clown that he is, Harry doesnt take the tale seriously, and probably dismisses the Hallows as fragments of Xenophilius Lovegoods imagination, or mere items in a fairytale at best, and spends all his time and energy searching for the Horcruxes instead. But after the encounter with the Death Eaters at Malfoy Manor and realizing the dangers of facing them without a powerful weapon, Dobbys Death, and perhaps learning from Ollivander that Voldemort is seeking the Elder Wand, or has it already, Xenos story resurfaces in Harrys mind, he is hit with a certain realization, and, with worry and trepidation in his voice, ask Olivander, What do you know about the Deathly Hallows?

My complaint is not about Lunas dad possible removement from the film, although that would suck, but more with the idea that Voldemort knows nothing of the Hallows, with the exception of the wand of destiny, which he hears from Olivander. I also wanted to point out how the films capture the feeling of the books, but not the series. Dobby is obviously important and he is left out, if you hadnt read the books you wouldnt know who the marauders were and the significance of Harrys patronus, hell, we dont even know about the cup, the snake, or any other possible horcrux or horcrux location, and last is the characters, Steve Kloves makes it seem Hermione is the chosen one cause Harry cant do anything with out her and she can do no wrong. I know you cant do everything in the book, simply based on time, but come on.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 18:53:55
@mrdopey: I like the fact that Ollivander is telling them about the Hallows. He clearly doesnt know that much. Hes just giving them general details. Xenophilius just tells them what the Hallows are not what they do. I actually dont remember how they find out what the Hallows do, but I like that Ollivander knows a little about them. Lunas dad is OBVIOUSLY in the movie because we saw a picture of him not too long ago talking to the trio.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 19:09:07
@mrdopey: Did you read the books? Harry and Ron CANT do anything without Hermione. In DH, Harry keeps waking up after Hermione saves his life or gets them out of some other sticky situation. Like when they almost get caught after ministry break-in. Hermione has to apparate quickly to lose the Death Eaters. When theyre at the Lovegoods house. Hermione comes up with the plan on how they can escape. When Harry and Hermione are in Godrics Hollow...Hermione saves him from Nagini. When Hermione is being tortured by Bellatrix she comes up with a COVER story for why they have the sword and it pretty much saves their lives! Dont discredit Hermione. Kloves doesnt do anything but write her just like she is in the book. The same goes for Harry and Ron. Dobby is important in DH...thats why hes in the movie and I think they did a good job filling in the gaps for the movies he was taken out of. Like having Neville give Harry the gillyweed instead.

People are missing my point. It is not necessary to have Olivander do this. Then to me, and yes I know this is just a story, Voldemorts obsession with the wand of destiny would make him probe every aspect of what Olivander knows. That is the very reason he goes after Gregorovich. It seems unlikely to me that he would not have found out about the Hallows and there supposed purpose from Olivander in his interrogations and in turn go for them for immortality since he fears death. The other point I have is that they deem characters or certain character flaws unnecessary for the films, because it is not needed for the feeling of the book, but this info is necessary for the series. So please drop the Lunas dad thing and try to understand my overall point.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 19:33:36
Mrdopey: I see what youre getting at; I think youre saying that Voldemort, being the most powerful Legilimens in the world (The only Occlumens we know of who could completely fool him was Severus Snape) he would have acquired that information and probably tracked down the other Hallows to cover his bases. Which makes sense, of course, but then Voldemorts character is prone to hubris.. Dumbledore even said that Voldemort probably wouldnt have thought the other Hallows worth his time. He feared the dead, he wouldnt want the Resurrection Stone, and like Dumbledore he is probably capable of casting a strong enough disillusionment charm that hed think he didnt need the Cloak. Firestorm: rofl!

I disagree about Hermione. In the books harry figures out that it is Buckbeak they are supposed to save as well as Sirius. It is Harry who who figures out about what is kept in the vault at Gringots. It is Harry who suspects Malfoy while Hermione doesnt. I agree that Hermione helps a lot, I mean she is by far the cleverest of the trio, but I really dont want to debate who does what in the books. My point was more about the fact that her character doesnt get the chance to really evolve as she did in the books. She is very smart, but in a practical sense she has to grow. She has to be reminded she is a witch in the book 1, she has to learn her limits in book 3 as well as being beaten in a practical exam by Harry, Harry also beats her in DADA OWL, and then she finally reaches the point we see her in in the Deathly Hallows. I love her character, but the movies dont capture her fully in my opinion, by leaving out her flaws and making t seem as though Harry is inept with out her, we miss out on a lot. Oh by the way the Death Eater is clinging to Hermione, she breaks Harrys wand, and I am not discrediting her.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-07 19:54:25
...I think Hedwig was the secret mastermind behind Harrys timely epiphanies, meself. :D
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 00:07:03
@mrdopey: No one said Harry wasnt intelligent. Harry has great instincts. Hermione has the brains. Ron is the humor and the glue that holds them together. Throughout the series they all start to take on characteristics of each other. Hermione becomes more brave and more funny. Harry becomes more intelligent because he learns from the mistakes hes made in the past (sort of) and Ron becomes more mature and starts to care more about the important things instead of just food and playing chess and quidditch.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 06:48:23
I just want to clarify one more time. I love Hermiones character, but the films miss out on her essence. The easiest way to explain is to look at PoA. I already mentioned Harry deducing that they went back 3 hours to save Buckbeak and Sirius, but we also have Hermione having to help Harry coax Buckbeak into the forest (which she doesnt), Throw a rock to alert Harry ( which she doesnt, but I do realize its purpose in the film), She is supposedly the least athletic of the trio, but it is her who jumps the womping willows branches and grabs Harry and throws him through the passage ( all this despite Harrys Quidditch skills), etc... Instead of this why couldnt we have seen Hermione struggling with classes or dealing with not talking to Ron. I could do this with each movie, but it would all end up the same. In the films we really dont see her character grow from PoA on. I find it disappointing to say the least. To each his/her own though.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 07:02:59
Not bad, not bad. And unless Im much mistaken, theyve added a scene where Harry and Hermione exchange a high-five after Ron leaves.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 08:00:11
phoenixmaster, I told you, you cant help it. You ARE umbridge, dude! I was saying this is how I THINK its going to be in the MOVIE, not how I KNOW it is in the BOOK.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 09:35:31
Firestorm/Phoenixmaster: *quirks an eyebrow* Fascinating. :D I think Im going to enjoy the new "Hem hem" bits. Baphomet: I had a hard time deciding where the high five was, since Ron might have just been out of shot, too. Funny question, but does your name by any chance come from the Fablehaven series, by Brandon Mull?
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 09:43:29
No, its a tribute to Aleister Crowley who at one time went by that nickname.
The high five Im referring to is at 0:46. Of course, its unlikely to be connected to Rons defection, but one can hope...
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 11:04:30
@mrdopey: Okay. I get it youre upset that they make her stronger in the earlier films that she is in the books. It is a film and watching Hermione struggle with classes (which is in the film if you look close enough) is not that exciting. Movies and Books are different mediums. What works in one does not work in another. I think shes grown a lot in the films when you compare the one in SS to the one in HBP, but like you said to each his own. I DO see what you mean about Ollivander having knowledge about the Hallows and him being tortured by Voldemort for over a year. He wouldve told Voldemort valuable information about them, but one thing I noticed from the trailer...Ollivander doesnt seem to know what they ARE. And Voldemort doesnt even know they exist...I dont think he could get the information from Ollivander unless he was looking for it.

I agree that Alfonso was the beginning of Hermoine losing her faults and just being brilliant/badly treated. In the third film they left out Hermoines most interfering infuriating moment: when she rats out Harrys Firebolt. Ooh, how I hissed in outrage...but anyway, it was easily one of her most irritating moments (I say this because I can relate, I was a complete swot as a young kid, then became a sneaky subversice swot as a late teen) and most of us wanted to jinx her into oblivion. Alfonso left it out, and thus we lost a lot of her faults along with it. Alas. Hermoines quite maternal with Harry, which is why its not fun for him when she and Ron bicker(or Harry and Ron in GOF). In GOF its remarked that with her theres less laughing and a whole lot more studying in the library.. which is why selfishly Harry sometimes doesnt defend her when he should because hes so relieved to be on speaking terms with Ron. :) Itd be nice if theyd show Hermoine being wrong more, but again, its a little late now. And, Im not whinging, because I find it interesting how they slowly changed their characters away from the books.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 11:36:03
phoenixmaster: they make these subtle changes all the time. Fans dont even notice. Example: the Harry/Ginny storyline. I know its not nearly as important as the Hallows/Horcruxes thing, but look how different it is form the book. Ginny knows early on about Harrys feelings, and SHE tries to draw him in because she knows he cant make a move because of Ron. In the book, its Harrys struggle with that little voice in the back of his head. They also did the Harry/Hermione connection when they confess their emotions and relate to each other in the oppugno scene, which was not in the book at all. Ginny kisses Harry secretly instead of Harry kissing Ginny publicly. They make these subtle changes so help tell the story better, and to make their movie themes and subplots more film-appropriate and more coherent. Baphomet: I read something about your screen name in the Da Vinci Code. It was the headstone praised by templars, and the password to open the the first cryptex. But never mind. MissImpertinence: glad to provide amusement!

I do wish wed seen Ginnys Bat Bogey Hex..
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 13:00:12
@MissImpertinence: Hermione is rarely wrong, but when she is it is usually REALLY annoying like you said. POA is the first book I read and when she turned over his firebolt I was so mad, but she was only trying to protect him and it WAS the smart thing to do because the broom was from the man they thought was trying to kill Harry. She was also wrong about Draco in HBP and they kept that in the film, but the majority of the time, Hermione IS right. Her fault is that shes extremely rational and doesnt believe anything unless she has Hardcore facts. I honestly, havent noticed any change in the characters in the films. The trio are exactly the same. Harry is spontaneous, temperamental, and sarcastic. Ron is laid-back, funny, and jealous. Hermione is brilliant, rational, and the voice of reason.
Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-08 13:17:15
iwantorlando: I never doubted Hermoines intentions, but wasnt she wrong when she constantly told Harry that Draco wasnt up to anything in HBP? :) I love Hermoine, so you dont need to defend her from me. Then again, should I dare eviscerate the name of a character with my razor-sharp snark, Im sure I can count on my esteemed fellow fans to set me straight. I recommend straight jackets, meself.

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WAS AMAZING AND I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT!!!!!!
August 1, 2006 - J.K. Rowling begins her first trip to the US in over six years by holding a press conference in NYC with Stephen Kind and John Irving, prior to the first night of Harry, Carrie and Garp.
