UPDATE: The screening has concluded! View a list of everything we learned during the screening at this link! EDIT: It looks like there was a last minute change. Producer David Barron will be hosting with Dan instead of director David Yates. Dan Radcliffe and David Yates are currently hosting a community screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with those fans who are digitally attending via their Blu-Ray disc/player. If you can't attend the screening, no worries! We'll be tweeting from a brand new Twitter account we created specifically for live events. We're using a separate Twitter account so we don't clog up your Twitter feed with messages from @MuggleNet. The box on the right side of this page displays the latest updates about the screening! Once the screening is over we'll write up a news post with complete details.

I have a question, I dont have Blu-ray but where is Dan talking from, is his voice just randomly poping out of nowhere or is there a little box with a image of him talking(like a webcam. Also is there a lot of screaming voices talking or do you send him the question and he answers by typing it back.

This is really disappointing. The audo keeps cutting out completely for several seconds to several minutes at a time, and the text on the screen is so small I cant even read it, so its kind of pointless. I wonder if other people are experiencing this problem? Ive signed out and back in to the BD Live feature several times but the problem persists :( Maybe its just a bad connection to the internet on my end... either way, I really hope there will be a transcript of this in the future. Also, just from the parts of this that I have been able to hear when it is actually working, they seem to just be taking question after question from the fans. I thought this would be more of a traditional commentary where they discuss each scene as it plays on the screen; funny moments or difficulties during filming, decisions that were made on how to go about the scene, things like that... and then maybe a few questions thrown in here and there, but so far it seems to be the other way around. One last thing I will say about BD Live in general is that it was very difficult to find information on how exactly to go about connecting to this. After several searches online, I found that I had to use an ethernet cable to connect the Blu Ray to my router for internet AND put a thumb drive into the back of the Blu Ray player. It wont work without both of these and took me over an hour to find that out by searching online... Anyway I hope those of you who are able to view/hear this without the technical difficulties I have been experiencing are enjoying it and please get the word out if you hear anything about the audio or a transcript of the audio for this being posted anywhere online in the future. Id definitely like to get my hands on a working copy. Thanks!

I connected but... First, I had no picture, just black background and the screening audio and text. After restarting the BD, I was able to get the movie to display -- in sync with the screening. However, the text box was partially cut off and the pop they said would let me mute the audio (which overlays the movie audio) was not working. The FAQ said to clear the BD storage. Big mistake. I was bag to where I started. After re-re-re-starting, I think I got back in, but they seem to be on a break so I cant be sure.

WeaslyTwin, to answer your question: the movie is playing full screen and you can hear Dan Radcliffe and David Barron talking (you cant see them, just hear their voices). There is also a small text box on the upper right hand side of the screen that has the text of the dialog being spoken, so you can read what they are saying as well as hear it. The questions from fans are submitted over the internet from wblive.warnerbros.com and then read to Dan and David by a man that I assume is in the same room with them. So the only 3 voices you hear are Dan, David, and the man reading them the fan questions.

I had the technical issues too, missed first 5 mins even though i logged in half an hour early and it cut out (sound) like 10 times, but it has seemed ok for the past half an hour. Had anyone else noticed teh same people are getting theor questions up - how unfair they should take a bigger range. I have seen 4 people get 2 or 3 questions!!!!

Somebody send in a question about why they didnt try to explain the Horcruxes a lot.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-12 15:44:25

WOW! Dan answered my question on what he likes to do in his free time. Something to tell others yeahhh....!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-12 15:51:55

Weasley Twim 0 i sent that one in ages ago - they jsut keep using the same peoples questions though :-(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-12 16:09:21

I asked a question and Dan answered it on BD Live!!! I could only hear half of his answer because the audio kept skipping out on me, but he definitely answered MY question!!! Sorry I am just really excited because I thought thered be no possible way out of all the people trying to get questions in that they would take MINE. Haha, if anyone heard it, I asked about whether there was a lot of improv in the scenes Dan did while he was under the influence of the Felix Felicis because I really thought he was hysterical in those. I didnt hear everything he said to answer but I think he said that the lines were mostly scripted but his facial expressions and stuff were improv... now I REALLY hope theres a transcript made of this haha.

Will there be a recording of this available later?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-12 16:55:58

I had a few of my questions answered, among the following were what was your favorite harry potter food, why did ginny hide the book instead of harry, and a thank you for all the work, it was Brad and Elena that they had mentioned, how exciting, I hope a transcript and recording will be made available!

I was slightly disappointed. I was listening to it for a few minutes, but the movie was just uselessly playing and they didnt even seem to be commenting on anything that was happening in it, just answering questions that they could answer any day, so I just turned it off and watched the movie without the commentary. I was hoping that they would comment on things in the movie, little things we didnt notice, and I was hoping that we could at least hear the movie, instead of it being completely muted.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-12 17:18:40

LoneZeus, I didnt hear the one about why Ginny hid the book instead of Harry - can you tell me what they had to say about that one? I was really interested in that as well. chommy - I definitely agree about the commentary and how the movie was just sort of uselessly playing in the background. I wish they would do commentaries and talk about the scenes, and put it on the DVD extra features for each movie. I heard there may be something like that on the new ultimate editions but Im not sure.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-12 17:20:11

Did anyone see a question from either potatolover or Andrew in Houston Texas about the funeral or why they made harry just stand there in the tower? I watched the blu ray in my comp but had no sound of the commentary but i think they answered those two of my questions because they answered those questions right after i submitted it but my box did not show the sender so i thought it was me? I want to know so i can brag lol.

Right, this will be a long read, so first things first: This whole event was a big pile of disaster!! I sat through them rambling on & on about apparently whatever popped into their heads for a good half an hour, things like football teams & whatnot. Then it gradually started to include questions from subscribers, but as others have mentioned, only a handful of peoples questions seemed to be used (almost exclusively from America, surprise surprise?)... and again most had very little to do with _this_ film - sometimes even not with _any_ of the films or even the books! And you just know that plenty of on-topic ones never got in (I know none of mine did, neither those pre-submitted nor those i posted on the fly), so clearly this is something that needs working on if they attempt this sort of thing again. And then came the break... and a loong break it was, without anyone letting us know just how long it would be - so by the time it did resume, server had already kicked me out & I waited patiently a good 20 mins before realising it. Leaving & rejoining was apparently the only way to pick up paused playback (another thing apparently no one seemed to know ahead), so by the time I was actually back with the film, they were now at the cave scene - and I had MISSED A LOT!! The worst thing is, they obviously had used the break to pick up more of viewers questions, which, while being an overall improvement, only served as an even bigger loss to me since I had missed so much of that 2nd half! To summarise: An interesting and noteworthy _experiment_ is the best positive angle I can put on this thing. As an _event_ its definitely NOT worth the hype, trouble or money (if you only bought the BluRay version for it, like I did). Get the 2-disc DVD instead (or wait for the Ulti Ed) & rest assure you didnt miss out on anything worth the extra cost!

But the purpose was to answer fan questions, and those NEVER run very deep. I, personally, would have asked a couple good questions if I could, like what they thought of the Cave and Dumbledres death, but not everyone enjoys factoids. Otherwise, they couldve just had a pre-recorded commentary track on-disc. At least I found eyevanna Lynchs hatting skills interesting.

Does anyone know if they will post the audio of this?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-12 23:35:35

@Tarhisie: Theres a link on TLC and DanRadcliffe.com to an audio download.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-13 05:41:24

It was really fun to read the tweets, thanks guys! Im downloading the audio now. I hope they do more things like this (maybe not only for blue-ray since many of us dont have one), specially with Daniel who is a very fun and witty person, and we always learn the most with him, like the actors who have broken more wands! lol I hope someone asks David T. about it some day!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-13 10:16:00

thanks for the coverage! i read all the tweets!

i think the reason it was bluray exclusive is because not many standard dvd players can connect to the internet.. but they could do it in pcs i spose

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-13 16:17:32

Thank you sooo much for Tweeting everything. I missed it yesterday so it was awesome to be able to read what was said. Thx again!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-13 18:36:44

They cant do it many pcs, cause the programs would still have to stream.

I thought Dans slip up about not filming with Gambon yet was pretty funny and also his comment about the blu-ray version of Emma being her only competition. Hes so FUNNY! I LOVE Dan!!! Its really sad that Yates has the flu. I hope he gets better.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2009-12-14 16:53:23

I wasnt sure for which one you could do the live screening with. I didnt know if u had to get the Special Edition or the Blu-Ray. :( Too bad. But I read everything on Twitter.
