Thanks to Carla and Paula for pointing out that Scholastic's official Harry Potter website is currently closed as it gets a revamp. The site reads:
"New Harry Potter Online Experience coming soon! Come back in two weeks to discover the magic of the Harry Potter books and demonstrate your wizarding skills."
In addition to this message, Scholastic has opened "The Real Magic of Harry Potter Sweepstakes"! By entering the contest at this link, you will be entered to win one of four grand prize trips to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park. The contest is only open to those in the US between the ages of 7 and 14. You have until June 1st to enter!
Their contest page also includes a small new video of the park. To view it, click here and then click the "Play Video" button towards the bottom right of the page. It shows a small family experiencing a store with Quidditch supplies.
Finally, there's this small new piece of concept art depicting the Hogsmeade area of the park. Hopefully Universal will release it in high-res soon!

Youve got the ages wrong on the contest. Its only open to ages 7-14, which stinks in my opinion.

im actually quite sad to hear of this news about the wizarding world. There is no way i will be able to go any time soon, yet i am dying to go. Hope not going thanks to mexicos financial problems doesnt make me less fan, plus my parents are planning a trip to europe for just themselves... Hope that somehow i could go and see al the HP people that are attening, and be with all the fans... :( But well, at least (and a great "at least") i have DH to really look for.... My most awaited films of all times!!!

Yes, I can understand, it only being open to US resident, albeit a bit unfair as it is a global phenomenon. But ages 7-14? Im sorry but that is a load of BS and blatantly wrong. Not much one can do about it, but it doesnt make it any less BS.

Yet again the veteran fans are slighted.

I wish I could enter the contest, but Im WAY over the age limit. I think Scholastic must think all their fans are little kids which is not the case. A vast majority of us were probably about 10 or 12 when the first book came out, but were all in our late teens and early 20s now. All the fans who are 7 to 14 are very new to the fandom. Thats not cool.

Not cool that it is not open to older fans. I work there, so I can get in, thank goodness, but it makes me mad on principle. As far as my working there...I have just started a blog about my new job and all that jazz. Wizarding World Worker, on blogspot.

I also think the contest should be open to older fans! The die-hard harry potter fans started reading the books while 14yr olds were still in diapers! Not to mention 7 year olds who werent even born when the first four books were released and were only 2 when the S.S. went to theaters! Come on now! Those kids cant be as excited as us! We have anxiously awaited the release of a book or movie for 12 years now! I have been planning a trip to this place for over 2 years now! Im sorry but if a 7 year old gets sent to WWHP free of charge, Im going to be mad! They cant even read! And D.H. is definitely too old for them! The books were written for our generation, not theirs, it is well evidenced in the way the books matured every year as we did.
