NBC Universal has passed along a high-res photo of the Hogwarts Express from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. A full description can be read below:
"The Hogwarts Express arrives at Hogsmeade Station as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter continues to develop at Universal Orlando Resort. As guests enter Hogsmeade, they will be greeted by the iconic, smoke-billowing steam engine, made famous in the Harry Potter books and films for transporting students to a world of magic and wonder. Opening in Spring 2010 only at Universal Orlando Resort, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature multiple themed attractions, shops and a restaurant."

Wow, it looks great!! Its just like I expected! I love the trunk and owl cage next to it, it makes it so much more authentic looking. This park is really coming together!

Id just like to point out that it was said to be steam by universal not smoke... Anyway, it does look amazing, cant wait to look at it... It looks like a real train... The castle will be amazing :)

While its a relatively small detail to the overall park, the train is going to be really nice to see. Especially since its going to be at the main entrance to the HP theme park. The smoke effect is actually quite nice, and the trolly with the luggage and owl cage make for some nice details which will just add that much more to the experience. Also, the fake snow is looking really good. Cant wait to see some better looks at the rest of the park. I dont plan on going for another couple of years or so, but I already have a feeling Im going to end up spending a decent amount of money while there, lol. The sheer amount of souvenirs Ill end up getting will most likely fill several pieces of luggage (I have little will power, lol).

You guys might want to wait quite a while... The lines will be out the shops even after the place opens... But it WOULD be cool to meet J.K. Rowling... Anyway, I cant wait either, I want to get my wand right away the first time Im there...

I know it doesnt have anything to do, but there hasnt been any new news lately about DH :( at least for the last couple of days. About the oscars, i kind of hoped that at least they would show something from the movie, as they did with visual effects and others. Still, it was great to know that HBP was nominated................ . and about this pictures, they look awesome!!! too bad i wont be able to go in some time

Ive been thinking the same thing. Updates? At the big award show HP got a very brief mention (was there a technical glitch - b/c there was a pause before NO clips ran from the nominees) as the nominees were read, but that was it. No actors from any of the movies, that I can recall. Correct me.. please. But I too am awaiting new HP news. That might mean that I need to get a life, but I admit, I have a teeny tiny HP addiction, and I need a fresh hit! :-)

I dont understand why they didnt make the Hogwarts Express a RIDE. I think it would be fun to ride a train around the park, instead of just being able to look at it. Missed opportunity, IMO.

But... magic, space, and creatures aside of course... eh eh eh what makes LOTR and Star Trek/Wars and HP so compelling is the fact that they feature real people with real lives and emotional/social/systemic /spiritual conflict. Avatar didnt have much of that. It will be interesting to see what kind of shelf life it has. Someone posted somewhere on this site that we should keep in mind that the academy panned LOTR until its last installment, then showered it with awards.
