"Do you have a precocious child who knows everything there is to know about Harry Potter books and movies?" OKAY....but you can be an adult and STILL know everything about Harry.......gees Ellen....I guess its good they dont actually have an age limit.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 16:08:37
Totally filling the form out :) I know I barely have a chance of winning, but itd be REALLY amazing if I did. Good luck to everyone who enters :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 16:22:19
As Im only 16 I will have to have my mom fill this out or they wont except it :/ I will make her fill it out well and I really hope I have a shot...doubtful. That would be very cool to be on there talking about my favorite thing in the whole world!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 16:25:08

|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 16:34:23
Im canadian to, but i filled it out still. I just wrote it down there. but we canadians should get more attention
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 16:47:37
Why does everyone think Harry Potter is just for children?? Why cant adults enter this contest as well?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 16:55:15
OMG Definately filling out that form! Sounds sooo cool!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 17:23:39

Im 22 and Im totally entering this. I would like to see them stop me.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 17:45:05
@iwantorlando05 LOL! Thats the attitude! :D :D
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 18:09:52
people in the world need to realize that the wonderful world of Harry Potter is not only for children. Todays "children" didnt grow up waiting for the next book to come out; us wonderful twenty-somethings were. Im 20 and Im totally entering!!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 18:36:35
i agree with everyone whose saying that its unfair that the media makes it out that all hardcore harry potter fans are little kids. some of the biggest fans are adults, and theres nothing wrong with that, so why dont we ever get recognized for it, as well?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 18:40:32
do you reckon i can pretend to be american, and then when i win, i can get her to fly me over?
eh, ill try. XD
and yeah, im 17, not sure if ill be "little" and "cute" enough to pass as a worthy harry potter fan (apparently)
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 18:46:28
So Im 20 am i considered a precious child? lol...my mom does always say how im crazy about "Ese brujo" lmao for the people that dont know it means that wizard.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 19:29:58
aww. only for americans.. how sad.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 19:45:59
Would it be stupid and totally out of my league to enter? haha, teenagers are sorta children, right? Oh well, probably wouldnt win anyway, but it would be fun to try. Ellen is so funny, but Id love to be on the show!! Also, heres something to think about: I do watch Ellen, and she always gives out fabulous prizes to the guests on her show, so Im thinking the winner of this contest will defiantly be getting an incredible prize, hmm, book sets, books and movie sets, but Im thinking tickets to the opening week of Wizarding World, since thats probably what the shows main focus will be!!! Wouldnt that be amazing??!!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 19:51:37
You know, some rich little kid maybe 7 or 8 will probably win. this kid probably has only ever seen the movies or if they have read the books, theyll have no idea of what half of it means!! Theyll probably only be able to answer the question "whos your favorite character, spell?" An idiot could answer that!! Real fans are more than likely, 99% teens or adults in their early 20s or something. Thats what always happens with contests like this, teens arent crowd appealing as little children are, so thats what they want no matter the subject. I FREAKING LOVE HARRY POTTER!! IM THE BIGGEST FAN ALIVE!!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 19:51:44
Okay, so right away I see something that annoys me: "tell us about your little wizard". HARRY POTTER IS NOT A CHILDRENS BOOK. Find an 8 year old who can explain and understand everything especially from Deathly Hallows. Todays young kids didnt grow up with Harry Potter, so if they are looking for people know and love everything about Harry Potter they are looking in the wrong place! Firggen people just cant accept that a story about wizards and witches can be for adults too. Also, its only for Americans? Typical.........ok finished complaining. This is actually really cool!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 19:53:11
Haha, I sort of quoted 93woppet without realizing it! :)
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 19:57:01
@RonLover19 is right "Real fans are more than likely, 99% teens or adults in their early 20s or something." Watching little kids answer questions about who their favorite character is with no real thought or knowledge about the books behind it is not appealing to me. Unless there is someone who actually grew up with the books I will NOT be watching that show.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 20:15:14
I entered :) Im 17, but theyll probably just pick lil adorable kids. Ugh. Oh well, worth a shot. I had to use my mom to do it, but since Im more the writer and know more about how the series affected me, I wrote the entry. It was SO hard to fit everything into 1500 characters (with spaces!). I honestly went through about 5 or 6 revisions...and it feels like all the feeling was sucked out of it. I hope I get it! I grew up reading the books (since I was about 8) and Im in FL, so its not like theyd have to fly me out!!! Fingers crossed!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 20:17:58
I think RonLover and AndrewW are right... Seriously this is kind of a publicity stunt or something, I dont think they care about the series at all they just want some cute kid to go and make the ratings go higher. I totally agree, its NOT a childrens book, maybe kids will find it entertaining but wont get deeper meaning out of it! I think that people are right that it will be some rich 7 or 8 year old who doesnt know much... oh well, that doesnt deter me from my obsession, so who cares? :D
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 20:27:34
i dont care if im 21, totally just entered =) i feel like cedric when he entered his name in the goblet of fire... sigggh i really hope i win..
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 20:50:34
I think it ought to be worded as The Ellen Dengeres Show has announced that they are looking for people "who know everything about Harry Potter", not kids who know everything about Harry Potter. Fans of this saga do, after all, range from 8 to 80.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 23:04:17
Aw, sadly Canadas not included because I got excited when I saw the heading and tried to sign up. Maybe next time please =D
I cant wait to see this on tv when its aired.
yay Harry Potter ^___________^
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-09 23:48:37
LOL! I signed up 2 minutes after she posted that in her twitter feed! :D But I had over 6000 characters written, and they only wanted 1500... That was SO hard to cut!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 03:53:41
I agree with everyone on the fact that they probably just want a cute little kid to come in dressed up as Harry Potter, say one spell, and win a fabulous prize that ALL of us would Crucio for. DIE HARD fans are most likely not little kids.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 04:00:33
Totally agree with everyone here, major fans are most likely to be late teens & 20s who grew up with HP, and not random little 7 year olds who run around "being" HP or something. Hope they get bombarded with applications from adults lol! If I was in the US Id soooo enter... and Im 22!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 05:08:39
grrrrrrrrrr it really pisses me off when the assumption is made that Harry Potter books are just associated with children.... this never fails to make me angry.... anyone who assumes that obviously has not read the books..........
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 06:29:00
Ahhh. I wouldnt be able to go, even though Id LOVE LOVE to. Saad!
|

Hey, its Remus Lupins birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOONY, SWEETHEART!!!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 06:51:30
Yes! Definitely entering - going to include some harry potter trivia with it too :) wonder what will happen if you get picked?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 07:23:30
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 07:35:15
Right now it sucks living in Norway :S
But that doesnt stop me from entering, even though I cant get there :P
But I totally agree with the other people here.
Harry Potter is not books for five-year-olds, as Ellen seems to think.
I would say its not a childrens book at all!
There are adult themes in many of the books which are not suitable for kids! Saying that Harry Potter is a childrens tale is AN INSULT TO THE FANDOM!
Period

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 07:48:28
You guys make it sound like kids cant be "real" HP fans. :/ Id like to think I was a "real" fan when I was 8. Dont assume things just because theyre young!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 07:56:25
I signed up for it, but considering Im too old I probably wont get picked... I guess once you hit your twenties its weird to still like harry potter... but its kinda like saying Im too old to like ice cream... well I dont care what anyone says... specially because Ive been a harry potter fan for the last ten years of my life and thats not gonna change... also its not like i walk around in a costumer and dont get a job because Im spying on harry potter actors. Im a full working member of society and as stupid as that sounds...i dont care what anyone says about how old you can be to be a fan of a "childrens" book, considering i was a child when i started reading it, besides the fact that it might have started out as a childrens book, it was meant to grow with the readers.. so the readers should by definition be in their twenties by this point, not 8... so real fans are in their 20s.
now that Im done with my ranting...good bye...
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 08:03:05
Remember...There is no age limit so anyone, despite their age, can submit an entry. @loony4luna-- I know kids can be real HP fans; however, its irksome to me (a middle-aged adult) when there are those out there who think HP is strictly for little kids.

@IcanhazPotturpls
She has an afternoon talk show and shes also (i think) a judge on American Idol. Shes not THAT cool, really, mostly just famous for being the only open lesbian to have a talkshow on TV.

I applied onec I saw it. I so hope I make it! I LOVE HARRY POTTER and ELLEN!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 10:36:16
lets be realistic, im 22 years old and I started reading the books when they came out when I was ten years old so the biggest Harry Potter fans, the ones that grew up with Harry Potter and would kill for a uber great prize (which sounds to me like maybe a trip to the wizarding world of hp because ellen gets to go visit it) is adults, people from age like 18 to 30, were the ones that grew up with it and DIED for each book to come out. Not some nine year old kid who wasnt even born when the first book came out. I entered anyhow, whatever, I want to win lol. Like im not saying that kids cant be real Harry Potter fans, I"m just saying a lot of the reason that they are fans are because of the movies...and its stupid that they think Harry POtter is limited to kids because we were the kids that made Harry Potter what it is
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 10:39:18
Correction, not everyone can, as it is only open to US, as usual Canadians once more left out...
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 11:04:37
@loony4luna. There is a difference between being a fan when you were a kid and todays 8 year-olds. I was about 11 when I first read Philosophers Stone. But kids today did not grow up with the books. They can be fans, but we have been fans for many more years and waited as each books was released. So I dont think kids today can be as big of fans as a 20 year old today.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 11:43:18
So, Im 25 and definitely entering this. Ill never win, but Im doing it anyway. Maybe Ill get my mom to enter my little sister. Shes 15 and probably too old too, but she probably stands a better chance than me.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 11:50:24
Enter! Enter! Enter! If the show is overwhelmed with entries from adults, young & old, they will certainly invite one (or more) to participate.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 12:03:27
This is what I see happening - A few people (maybe 3) win and get to go on the show. Like any other contest shed probably have them play a game or do trivia and the person who wins either gets a big prize while the other two get smaller prizes or all three get a big prize no matter how it turns out. Im entering, and I REALLY want to win. I highly doubt this will happen. Plus if I were on the show going up against other super hp fans.... id pee my pants. lol. Totally worth it should i win tho.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 12:10:37
Im only 15 but i still consider myself to have grown up with the books. My brother is 3 years older than me at the time, and we got the books as they came out. I may have been 3 when the Sorcerers Stone came out but my dad, my brother, and I would sit down every night and he would read to me. I was always so engrossed in the book, and I have to say I was an extremely smart 3 year old. My taste in books was exceptional!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 12:23:29
So, the "precocsious child" will likely know not even near the things we mugglenet visitors know.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 12:30:28
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 12:47:48
Well, if you think about it, any kid who is under the age of 10 is probably an HP fan because mom/dad/some other relative is a huge fan who grew up with the books.
How much would it suck to go on the show as an adult and lose the trivia challenge to a 5 year old? lol
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 13:07:56
Not only the problem here is that they will pick a kid and not a older and truer fan, but also only americans can be in it... Of course id see it hard that they pick a mexican, but im doing my story just for fun... :) who knows?? maybe theyll accept a 17 year old mexican??? lol........ Either way, i so want to see it, even if its a kid. Hope the show arrives to mexico...... And it would be an amazement to me if someone my age or older participated so i can hear waht a fan who grew with HP has to say. Not saying kids arent fans, but... well, you got the point. ;)
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 13:22:34
EVERYONE should enter it. Regardless of their age. If they get enough entries from people over the age of 18 then it will let them know that Harry Potter fans are clearly not just kids. WE CAN DO IT!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 13:25:05
I hope my parents will let me...im 13.thats a kid,right?kinda?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 13:28:18
@iwantorlando05: EXACTLY. I think everyone should enter even if theyre not a child. Maybe if Ellen gets enough entries from people 20+ theyll realize that HP is not just for kids. What makes me angry is that little seven year olds will probably get chosen and they wont know sh/t about HP and theyll get a great prize that they wont deserve. Im not saying that kids cant be true fans but come on, will most of them understand HP like us? I doubt it.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 13:45:00
Guys, stop that... Shes not neccesarily looking for children, they arent just looking at the age and throwing it out if its over ten, they are looking for funny stories "It started to get annoying with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening up" Ellen loves that stuff... If a parent enters and they are 50, do you think they will throw it out, assuming that thats the fan? Stop this... Please, sorry, I just think you are being a bit unfair about this, the section is themed towards children and children read these books as well, act your ages... Im 13, btw....
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 14:04:04
My guess is that Ellen is planning to do a show focusing on Harry Potter and would like fans to be in the audience, so its not just one person who will be selected.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 14:12:13
I totally enterd this. Im 16, so Im still technically a "child" PLus, my name is Ellen, so maybe shell pick me because we have that in common. It is called the Ellen Show.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 14:16:59
I just had my mom enter me!!!! Im so excited! I would LOVE to be on Ellen!!! And talking about HP, my favorite subject!
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 14:18:58
This has my name written all over it, too bad I am too nervous to be on TV. I know everything there is to know about Harry Potter. For example, did anyone know that "Vol-de-mort" means "Theft of Death" in French, or that "Nagini" means "Snake" in Hindi/Indian?.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 14:47:51
Veggie_Potter: Lol. The same thing happened to me. I wrote like 3000 characters, because I thought she meant words not characters. I definitely had to do some editing. I already know theyre going to choose like 10 little kids, but I still wanted to let them know that there are older fans out there.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 14:57:25
HorcruxorHollows: well... this might sound like Im being anal but "Indian" is not a language!!! Nagini comes from Naga, the Sanskrit word for snake. "Nagaland" is a state in India (and "naga" is a part of my last name). Mort means "death" in Latin, and French is a Romance Language, which comes from Latin. Language roots are fun, eh? (by the way, I didnt mean that to sound rude or anything, I apologize if it does... but I love word etymologies!)
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 15:20:26
@Frogki. If you grew up reading and waiting for these books like most people who whould visit MuggleNet, then you deserve to be on the Ellen show talking about Harry Potter. What I HATE seeing is these 7 or 8 year olds, who always seem to be a part of stuff like this, sitting there not really understanding Harry Potter. A mixed group of people from lets say 8 to 25 would be perfect. As long as they dont give the impression that Harry Potter is a childrens series.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 15:21:23
If a 50 year-old entered, yes, I do believe they would throw it out.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 16:17:44
"Click here to tell us about your little wizard." This sentence sickens me.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 16:25:22
COOOOOL! i signed up. does anybody know what we get to do if we win? Do we go on her show or something?
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 16:30:43
why do they think Potter fans are... kids?? those kids grew up.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 16:38:39
glad to see other people are also miffed at the media constantly portraying the series as a childrens book..maybe it started out as one, but it matured with its readers and this was the intention of JKR. I absolutely agree that the way the cameras focus on the little sh1ts, sorry kids lol, is overbearing and annoying..fk that. Sick of seeing these 7 year olds dressed up as Harry at premieres etc, theyre not cute! Harsh but true..lol. Anyway back on point, im also surprised because Ellens target audience is unlikely to be kids anyway. PS Ellens cool..this is probably the producers decision remember. thought id end that on a positive note ;)
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 17:10:36
@AndrewW
I agree with you... Although I really couldnt stay up waiting for them (my Mother is not a die hard fan, sadly, and so she didnt take me to books a million for its release...), I was a huge fan, and even though most of you are sickened by this, I dressed up as Harry Potter every year until I was about ten. I have always loved the Harry Potter series, and I hope to win this contest... Who knows, maybe shell choose me, my Mom wrote something instead of letting me type the story and it turned out funny...

well, for what its worth, GL to those who are entering.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 17:19:04
why are you guys complaining? it says IF you are under 18, meaning theyre taking people under and older than 18.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 17:28:33
@_cat_lover111_ People are complaining because it says "Tell us about your LITTLE wizard" as though many fans are little kids, and seeing as many fans are now in there twenties or their teens, it annoys them...
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 19:07:06
I wish I could enter but Im in Canada. and they probably wont choose anyone over the age of 9. Ive grown up with the harry potter movies, (I was 4 when the first one came out) and now Ive read all the books and Im reading Deathly Hallows for the second time. I may not have grown up waiting for each book to come out, considering i couldnt read yet when most of the books were released, but I still enjoy them as much as anyone. Some little kid who has only seen the movies is probably going to win. I doubt they are actually looking for a "child" who knows everything about the books, (the books arent even at a young childrens reading level! there is no possible way a "child" could know everything!) they are probably just looking for some cute kid who dresses like the characters! either way, good luck to everyone who enters.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 19:13:21
Ummm, I HATE it when people act like youger kids cant possible be huge fans of the HP series just because they werent born when the 1st book was out. Come on guys, that doesnt matter. HP is a global phenomenon that is good for all ages. No need to act all bitter and sad just because a contest comes around that is aimed more towards children. Im 13, and visiting the theme park this summer. Go ahead, say "youre not even a true fan! I was there for all the books! Im more of a fan, you cant possibly be as big of a fan as me! I deserve to go!" Guys, guess what. I guarantee im just as big of a fan as all of you, even if I was a baby when the 1st book came out. So stop being all bitter.
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-10 19:49:06
I dont think they mean someone who is 13, but more someone who is, say 6 or 7 who has likely not even read the books/understood them properly. People are saying its all for publicity because they want someone cute on stage, not someone who can actually qualify as a fan. I think kids that young can be fans--in their own way but its not quite the same as even someone who is 13 or older...
|

Since this is meant to be a promotion for the park, theyd be smarter to have someone slightly older and well-spoken. Not that a kid cannot speak well, but if I were an outsider watching this, I know Id appreciate a late teen to early 30s point of view on the park opening. I was around 7 or 8 when I first began reading, just after Azkaban came out--even I was a little late to the game. Id been reading books for a while, so I understood it pretty well. I think that young kids CAN be fans and appreciate the books, but there is a special connection that someone who has matured WITH the books feels. Theyll probably just choose kids, but like I said in my earlier comment, I entered anyways. Really hard to cut my entry down, too! I thought she said words not characters...My writing tends to get a little out of hand and passionate when Im excited :D

Why are these contests always ONLY for KIDS??

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-11 10:13:51
Non-US members CAN enter; the Non-US option is in the drop down list int he N section (obviously :D). I live in th UK, Im 17 and I got my mum to enter, so non-US residents, dont worry!

Just filled out my form. Im not gonna lie, trying to fit my story into 1500 characters was really tough. I ending up having to leave out a bunch of stuff, which stinks. I no I dont have a chance of winning, since she will probably pick some cute little kid who knows nothing (like they always do)

kershaw77, I beg to differ. Id say a good 75% of of the contests are for people 13 years or older, and even some that are 18 years or older. And face it, lots of contests are targeted towards kids. Yeah, lots of adults like HP, but you need to get over it. I can guarentee you it wont change.

rob1007: I agree. I love that fact that Harry Potter fans are all different ages. There are a lot of young kids who love the series, even though they might not understand many of the complex details. They still love it, but it just annoys me when non-fans assume that ALL HP fans are 11 years old.

Im over 40, and a big fan. My kids are allowed to see PS and CS and parts of GoF...OFF TOPIC A MOMENT: My hubby, who is not an enormous fan had a valid Q: Does it matter that Dumbledores wand is not buried with him in the movie HBP? V kills Snape, believing him to be the master, but Snape never actually had the wand in the book either...so Im thinking NOT, and the real major problem is the improper set up of the diadem, and cup. HIs other Q: Why didnt Dumbledore just leave Harry his wand and then hed have the 3 Hallows right from the beginning, but still need a quest for info on how to use them together, open the snitch, etc. The ministry would not have questioned that gift as much as the sword. (and he says and tell them all (Mugglenetters) not to give me that "there wouldnt be a story stuff, I know that. It just makes more sense." Sorry, I just figured after 89 entries above, the main topic has been exhausted.

HeRonfan: Voldemort just needs to retrieve the wand. It doesnt have to be buried with Dumbledore and they may actually have Dumbledores tomb in the 7th film. Maybe. I think they can figure out a way around not setting up each of the horcruxes. It will just make the trios job a lot harder since they dont have any clue what they are. But I think they can make it work.
I think Dumbledore didnt leave Harry the wand because he wanted Harry to focus on the horcruxes first, not the Hallows. Plus, Harry wouldnt have been the master if Dumbledore had just given it to him. Draco would still be the master since he took the wand during a "battle."

@HeRonFan--Just because Dumbledore wasnt shown being buried with the Elder Wand in HBP doesnt mean that he wont be buried with it. As for the other horcruxes revealed in the pensieve in the book, Hedwigs Owl of the cosforums stated that all that will need to be done is for Harry to tell Ron and Hermione while at the Burrow that Dumbledore told him about them not long before he died. To illustrate what I mean, do you remember the end of the OotP movie when Harry said that Dumbledore said that theyve got something Voldemort doesnt have, something worth fighting for? Yet, those words were never spoken by Dumbledore during the movie.

Id like to be optimistic, so I told the truth and played the Autism card to see if that wont get me in.

Actually, it wouldnt hurt if they did half/half. adult fans AND little kids would make for a nice diverse range of guests.

Knowing Ellen she probably will. I mean a lot of older kids and adults are DIE HARD fans compared to little kids.

I can understand contests not being available to people who are not American citizens, afterall the laws are for their contests. But...grrrr, MTV, NBC, etc. not allowing other people view videos and other content simply because we "are not in their viewing area"...I beg to differ. The internet is everyones viewing area.

Ok guys stop saying the kids are stupid and dont know anything about Harry Potter. Because you know there are some genius kids out there. Just because your jealous of kids who get to be on the show doesnt mean you have to say that kind of stuff about them. I am not exactly an adult and i consider myself as a big a fan as the 20 year old next door. so chill... youll get your chance.... :)

oh ya and btw so people on mugglenet are kids...
|
Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-13 11:29:35
Were not saying kids arent smart: it just takes years of HP experience to be able to meet the technicalities of the statement made in this news post, and were all sick of being shunned in favor of "the cute factor".

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-13 13:14:35
@aes16. The 20+ year olds that probably make up 60% of Mugglenets visitors are kids? Plus half the staff are about 20 or older now.

the whole "youre going to get your chance" deal is sooo not true. were already considered too old now with the whole "tell us about your little wizard" deal so we wont get our chance, we just get older and we just get too old. All Im saying about little kids is that they are LITTLE so they can wait and have their chance, us older fans have been fans for years so weve been waiting forever for things like this, its more exciting for us because weve been here for YEARS being fans.
besides, im 22 and i still think im pretty darn cute lol and i would love to win. i think my biggest beef is that people need to recognize that Harry Potter reaches people of all ages and that it especially reaches us older people cuz weve been so involved with these characters for sooo long. We just feel more connected to these books than your average like 9 year old harry potter fan because weve been involved for literally years of our life. i was ten when i read the first one, that was 12 years ago! thats all im saying, the show should take that into consideration

codenamecassie: HERE! HERE! Im 22 also and Im still just as adorable as I was when I was 10 years old! These people need to recognize! *snaps fingers in a sassy manner*

Im 25 and just entered. :P To be honest, I think Im cuter now than I was when I started reading Harry Potter about 12 years ago (I was going through that awkward phase that most 13 year olds have). Im probably not going to win, but it was fun to sit down and try to boil down what HP means to me and why Im an awesome fan into only 1500 characters.

I also dont like this whole concept that there is like only one true fan in the world. Even though they dont explicitly say that, it is definitely implied in contests such as this. Many, many, people are amazing fans of this series and Id rather talk about how amazing it is instead of trying to say... "well Im a bigger fan!" Just my opinion.

Oh, I didnt put down what harry Potter means to me. i just said I was a real fan! Saying I have AS might help my chances, but I doubt it if I didnt say what HP means to me.lol
My dreams are shattered.
