While JK hasn't said anything which would be really good, I would think that Scholastic wouldn't say something so earth shattering as this unless there was real truth behind it. If it isn't true, JK would probably be screaming at them over the phone right now, so I'd say if Scholastic says its true then it probably is.

Intresting i really didnt think they bring it out the same month OOTP the movie comes out. I guess it just means overload of HP next summer possible.

Let's hope Scholastic has all it's ducks in a row. I was in Spain when HBP was released. Had to find the UK version in Madrid. Wonder where I'll be when #7 comes out. Patience.. All things come to those who wait. (small comfort) OMT

I don't think Scholastic would make such a huge statement (no matter how offhand or out of context it may be) without some truth. I'm sure Scholastic knows how HUGE of a following the series has, and they're probably very careful with this sort of stuff. They've probably asked Jo for an approximate release time and she probably told them that she'd be done by the end of the year. Editing/promotional/marke ting stuff would take about six or seven months, therefore July '07 is the most likely release date. This pretty much verifies a Summer '07 release, so if it's not July, we're probably looking at a late June/early August release.

I find anything that hasn't come from Jo herself hard to believe...but this is coming from a sholastic mag, not a tabloid, so their guess is slightly more believable...

I knew it was too good to be true. Scholastic would never publish anything like that unless Jo had announced a release date herself. But I hope she doesn't rush it. I just want the end to be wonderful.

I hope they don't make the book release date later because of the 5th film, because the films are rubbish compared to the masterpieces which are the books! well the films are great, i just mean that nothing compares to the books... if ya get what i mean. lol. anyway mrbrightside05, i think they all read the old post before they changed it.

All I know is that i want it to come out soon so I can have a party with all my HP freak friends incase high school breaks us apart =/

I'm kind of glad that it's not coming out last summer. This is, after all, the last Harry book, I think I want to wait a little longer. It would also be really hectic with the fifth movie coming out that month. I was in school when I saw the original news post, but I didn't have enough time to comment!

scholastic magazine or not they would still never release the release date/month/year for a HP book with out it coming from JKR first. and we have learned that they don't decide on a release date until the book is finished, so obviously (like everything else at this point it was merely conjecture

I don't count on a 2007 book 7 release. Jo said she's not even halfway through it. She went over book 6 for three months before releasing it to the publishers. I'm hoping but not counting on 2007. Oh well, when it comes, it'll be fantastic!

It's got to be 07/07/07. I know it's the anniversary of the London subway bombings, but I don't think that should affect the book release.

I think 07 07 07 is waaaaay too short notice. I want my desktop-countdown to count at least 365 days, or else! GIMME 2010, Jo
