| Warner Brothers today announced details concerning the Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire Ultimate Edition DVDs. The Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secret Ultimate Editions were released last year.
We now know POA and GOF will be released on October 19th, 2010 in the United States.
Each edition comes with one piece of an all-new eight part documentary. Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire come with the following parts of the documentary:
Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 3: Creatures Never-before-seen footage of the Creature Shop! Explore never revealed concept drawings, interviews with creators who describe the quest to create real creatures with emotional power to move the adventure forward. Go behind the scenes with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as they interact with a marvelous menagerie from magnificent Buckbeak to malevolent Dementors. Watch creatures develop from page to sketch to model to screen. Discover how actors are transformed from humans to rats and werewolves. Witness Voldemort’s evolution from grotesque, infant-like creature to the Darkest Force of all.
Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 4: Sound & Music For the first time, discover how musical themes for Harry, Hedwig, Luna and Lord Voldemort define each character’s identity. Learn how sound effects experts create the crunch of footsteps on snow and the whoosh of a flying broomstick. Visit recording studios and see how each composer brings his orchestral vision to the films. Plunge into fun as Daniel gets the sound of underwater. Feel the magic as music is added to a scene, intensifying the emotion and steering the story.
More details can be found at this link. Our Ultimate Edition DVD section will be updated soon with this information. Thanks to Rajadhar for the tip.

I can't wait!

i hope on the OOTP ultimate edition they include an extended version of Snape's Worst Memory, prefferably with Lily!

i cant wait to buy this! :D

Finally some new news!! Well, I don't think I'll be getting these, I'm holding out for a boxed set of all the DVDs after they all come out.
Posted by: Heather Smith
I'm a little disappointed they aren't extended versions....
Posted by: John
I will most certainly be buying these. I loved the Socerer's Stone & Chamber of Secrets Editions so I bet these will be just as good; maybe even better!
Posted by: XxPigfartsHereIComexx
@GryffindorSeeker7 That's a good idea. Unfortunately, I can no longer do that since I just couldn't wait and had to get the Sorcerer's Stone Ultimate Edition. It's kind of annoying how now I have to spend more money for these editions, but its a choice. I mean its not like we have to buy them (although I will, guilty). Haha. I had already had movies 1-5 on normal dvd but when I heard about these I was ecstatic. I hope that they have the extended scene where Dumbledore explains Priori Incatatem and more.

I'll probably just wait until Christmas to get these. I have SS and CoS and I love them! I might as well get all of them haha.
Posted by: Ian Atkinson
I will not be buying these as I live in the UK and not even PS/SS or CoS have been released here to my knowledge.
Posted by: Ian Atkinson
I will not be buying these as I live in the UK and PS/SS and CoS haven't been released here yet, so I doubt these will be either.
Posted by: Im_No_Muggle
Ian Atkinson, I feel so sorry for you! It's pretty ridiculous that they aren't available in the UK. I will not be buying them either probably. I like Gryffindor Seeker's idea of buying a boxed set once it comes out. It will probably be cheaper than buying them as they are released.
Posted by: Veggie_Potter
I'm waiting for all of the movies to come out for these.
Posted by: Ian Atkinson
Im_No_Muggle, yes it probably would be cheaper. I have heard rumours that they plan on releasing them all as a box set over here in the UK when they are all out but as I said it's only a rumour but if I find out its true then I will be the first to let MuggleNet know. :D

The article says it won't include the Extended versions. They better be included, cuz it was starting with Azkaban that they didn't include all the deleted scenes on the DVD. I'm hoping they're waiting for ComicCon to make the announcement that the extended version will include the NEVER BEFORE SEEN material back in. Otherwise, its a no-buy for me, despite having 1&@ UE

I still haven't bought any of the ultimate editions and am wondering if I just get them on Blu-ray or just regular. I have PS3 so I can play both, but I just wanted to know if Blu-ray is really worth the extra buck and will I be glad I got them in the future? What do you guys think?
Posted by: LiaGolfer
Simi Malhi I am in the same situation of whether to buy or not. Blu-Ray is awesome though because I have all the movies already (not these Ultimate Editions) and they look amazing! I'd say it's worth a buy :)
Posted by: Pedro Nieves
Why they didn't mention that the movies will include the extended edition?
Posted by: Iwantorlando05
I'm TOTALLY buying these!! The first two are so AWESOME! They come with so much stuff and for a really good price. They're a must have for any Harry Potter fan. I can't wait to get these!!!!
Posted by: Kathryn
I wont be buying these because i don't have the money right now, but if they have a boxed set when they're all released I'll definitly save up. They sound very cool! I may ask for them for Christmas.
Posted by: Stella Goly
Um, why are they STILL selling new editions of these movies?!?! Everyone's seen them already! I guess they just want more money. @ Gryffindor_Seeker_7, they have a boxed set of HP movies 1-5. Thats what I have, and I got it for $10!
Posted by: Angelica
Simi Malhi, I haven't seen them but apparently they're out there. http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Warner_Brothers/Disc_Announcements/Harry_Potter_Ultimate_Editions_Announced_for_Blu-ray/3460

OMGOMGOMG I'm totally getting these!! I heard the first two were fantastic!! I'm supposed to be getting the first two soon. I'll probably ask for these for Christmas.
Posted by: Hedwig_swoops328
No extended versions? That's highly disappointing, I really enjoyed the extended versions of SS and CoS. I'll probably buy them though.
Posted by: Hpintwense06
Cool... I'm thinking about getting them. I got the first two and they were fantastic. The only thing holding me back is the price.
Posted by: Tori DeGiosio
are you serious? no extended edition? hopefully they at least put the deleted scenes somewhere on the disc. i only have the one disc version of azkban and i was really looking forward to being able to have the extended version. hopefully this will change with time. i'd be a little mad if there was no extended CD but the price stayed the same....i'll probably buy them no matter what but i really hope they add extended versions!
Posted by: Basiliskfangz
This is a joke...the first two haven't even been released in the UK yet, I got rid of all my harry potter DVD's because we got a blu-ray surround system, and I'm not wasting my money on normal blu-rays! I'd rather buy these editions, but they're not available here...and I don't fancy buying them from the US because I'll get charged customs fees and whatnot. :( - Mugglenet PLEASE ask WB when they are releasing them in the UK, I've e-mailed them like 10 times over like 7 months and no reply...
Posted by: Claire fudge
This is ridiculous! What about the UK? I'd be happy(er) if they even let us have the PS special edition!! PLEASE find out what's going on Mugglenet. This is so annoying! I want to see these documentaries more than anything! (Except perhaps less than I want to visit wizarding world!) It just feels like England, and the rest of the world have been forgotten about!
Posted by: Alvispotter
Here in Mexico none has been released, but im okay in waiting, cuz i'd love to buy them all in a whole set, when i already have all the films separately (DH 1 and 2 of course). Probably even blu-ray, but that's nothing certain. I actually think the interviews and stuff sound interesting, but i definitely believe that they should release it with extended scenes. I know for sure there are deleted scenes in both films, and it wouldnt be hard for them to include them.... Anyway, this is great!!
Posted by: Whitelighter
I'm sorry to hear our UK friends could not get the Ultimate Editions. I have one suggestion for you : buy the French editions. They are zone 2 and all the features are available in English (and you can even disable subtitles). I can guarantee that for I like to view the movies in English without subtitles. I suppose it must be the same with other European editions if you can't get the French ones.
Posted by: Sanmarpotter
Well, i already have all the movies of course, and i'll undoubtedly have both parts of DH in dvd as soon as they are in sale. but buying another ones just for some extra material? Dont get me wrong, the material looks awesome, but i wouldnt buy them all over again (unless i have a blu-ray and they go out in blu-ray). In the meantime, i would hope someone i know buys them to watch the special material. CANT WAIT FOR DH!!
Posted by: Jojoinpink54
Well I would love them of course, but I'm not bathing in money... However if that changes :)
Posted by: Quixotic Quibbler
I really liked the documentaries that came with the Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets ultimate editions. These ones sound really good too. I'll probably ask for them for Christmas.
Posted by: Riley
This is so awesome. :) I especially can't wait for part four, about the music.
Posted by: Ellie
This is awesome! The old projected release dates meant that I wouldn't be able to get them in time for my birthday, but now I can totally ask for the GoF one for my birthday, since I only have the one-disk version, and I was planning on getting the two-disk anyway. i'm really excited now!
Posted by: Zach
are these dvds truly worth it?
Posted by: Cathy
it looks awesome? I dont hv any yet tho :(

Posted by: Hooked_on_harry
did anyone else notice that all the advertisement on the right side cuts off some of the comments? Bit annoying really!! Or is it just me? Anyway...I'm in the same boat as a few others...have not gotten any of these but maybe I will ask for GoF for Xmas. I hope the extended version is there. If not at least I've taped (yes..vhs tape!) the extended versions of 1 - 4. Had to skip over the commercials tho' so it would be great if the extended version was included.
Posted by: Hooked_on_harry
and did anyone realize that OoTP was released exactly 3 years ago (from 7/12)? just wondering!
Posted by: Mahtob Arian
Not sure if these are worth it...
But my birthdays on the 20th, the day after they're released, so I'm debating on whether or not to ask for them!
Posted by: Tarte
Bought the first two at midnight when they came out, and they were totally worth it! The extra stuff on them is incredible. I can't wait for these!!!
Posted by: Emily Bryan
Wtf I just realized that there's no extended versions on either DVD! X[ NOT COOL!!! That's the main reason I wanted P(S)S/COS! Hopefully they ARE there and just not listed? :[
Posted by: Andrew Scardino
One of the coolest reasons for me on these editions was the extended version like lord of the rings got. I always felt that the fans enjoyed the longer so they should put it in something like this and now well ugh. I will of course buy it to have them all some day and to get the one hour documentary but man this really disappoints me greatly. Why would they make the first two extended and not the other longer books lol.
Posted by: Kerri Potter
Sounds cool! Not sure if I will get it or not...
Posted by: Rachael Hanakowski
I don't understand at all why the article says the extended editions aren't included! That's just stupid, I mean why, like somebody else said, would they put ex.ed. on the first two and not continue on?? One of the main reasons I was looking forward to buying these is because of the extended editions!! The other stuff sounds really neat, but I don't know if it's worth $50!!
Posted by: Rachey
I will be very disappointed if there is no extended versions. It wouldn't make any sense because they included extended versions for SOS and COS so everyone is expecting all of the ultimate editions to include extended versions.
Posted by: Whorecrucks
I really hope after they release them all that they DONT create a massive ultimate edition boxset for all the films and give you 1 extra disc of special features. That would be a punch in the face to people like me that live in Australia. I have bought the first 2 ultimate edition movies on bluray and they cost me $90 each. So after doing this 8 times it will make it $720. I know i will not be able to help myself i will need to buy it. Does anybody know if they plan to pull such a stunt?

Anyone else find it very strange that neither MuggleNet or Leaky mentioned the missing extended editions in their news stories. Makes me think they know more than we do.
My brother thought maybe WB is waiting to announce the extended versions at Comic-Con. Starting with POA, we have evidence for each movie that they've left some deleted scenes off the DVDs, always thinking they were intending to release the extended versions. Well I think that having the extended versions with never before seen footage put back in warrants its own announcement, and they might be saving it for a venue like Comic-Con. Just our thought. And my hope.
Posted by: J. P. Gagen
Also, they didn't mention the In-Movie experience, which as someone who recently graduated with a degree in film, was a HUGE reason for my purchasing the first two. Here's hoping they'll announce all these soon.
Posted by: Zipcode
I don't own any of the ultimate editions yet (especially since I already own the first three movies both on DVD and VHS), but at some point or another, I plan to. Personally, I CANNOT WAIT for the GoF ultimate edition, only because of the music. People may not realize it, but the soundtrack has the potential to make or break a movie. And it definitely made SS, PoA, and HBP. Here's to hoping DH1 joins my list :)

Question for someone out there....when they showed movies 3-5 on ABC Family this past weekend, did they show extended versions of the movies....or was it just the theatrical version. I haven't watched my DVD's in a while...and was curious. I'm also really bummed about there being no extended versions. I've held off buying the first two...to see if 3 and 4 made them worth buying...no extended versions..probably won't be buying them until the box set comes out. I hope that they will make an announcement soon and say that there will be one!
Posted by: Emily Bryan
@Heather Smith, yeah they did show those movies extended. I couldn't tell much with POA but GOF & OOTP was definitely extended.
Posted by: Vincent Bair
Alright, I freaked out when I first saw this, cause I love the Ultimate Editions of the first two that I got for Christmas. But then I saw that there was no extended editions. WHY?! That's probably what I loved most about the first two. I've always wanted to see an extended edition of PoA to see if they could actually fix that movie by adding extra scenes! Why is there no extended? I'm still going to buy these, but I'm not quite as excited anymore.
Posted by: Richard
This is total BS!!!! If they dont have the extended versions i will not buy them......i baught the first 2,because i thought they would ALL have the theatrical and extended versions but screw this,i wont get them cuz theyre not ultimate editions without the extended versions........im soooo pissed about this.......
Posted by: Derrick Davis
You guys remember last time when the MPAA site had the ratings for the extended versions up before they were even announced, since they had to be rated? Perhaps we should keep an eye on there, in case the tip-off from it happens again... I'm still hoping maybe it just isn't an advertised detail yet, although it's silly for them to hold off on saying it, if true.
Posted by: Andrew Rowland
wow. with these, Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast, a few summer/spring films, and I'll be broke by christmas.
Posted by: Andrew Rowland
as for the lack of extened cuts, didnt both of these get one for TV airings?
Posted by: Derrick Davis
Did they? If so, did they complete the visual effects on the scenes that weren't finished? I remember a couple scenes on the POA dvd that still had blue screen.
Posted by: Derrick Davis
I also now notice new high-res photos up of both sets. They do look nice still, at least.
I also noticed that the Blu Ray of Goblet of Fire has a pip commentary with cast members, like the other UEs and Half Blood Prince had. However, Prisoner of Azkaban has nothing of the sort at all. Wow. My favorite Potter film is lacking all the features I wished it would have. :(
Posted by: K Berczik
The extended versions are nice. However, considering they have been only editing in the extra scenes we've already seen, for me it's not all that big an issue. Personally, far more significant is the lack of the In-Movie pip commentary on PoA.
Posted by: Lee
really hoping the DVD boxsets will still be four discs, but i suppose no extended edition would mean there's no point in that :[ the first two releases seem like they put a genuine effort into making it "ultimate edition"; if these two come out like this, it seems like they've already given up somewhat. (or maybe i'm just biased since i have to have them imported, living in the UK, and i don't like such a high price for just the new packaging/documentary o:)
Posted by: Rizpahjulia
i dont even have the first 2 yet. ineed to get them asap!
Posted by: Heather Smith
@Emily Bryan...Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!! As I said, I wasn't 100% sure:)
Posted by: Danielle
I don't even have the first 2 yet :( My parents are meanies, they said we already have all the movies on download and I'm like "BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT!!" They still didn't listen. Oh well, I think going to WWoHP in September ( I'm going to Orlando late August, but Disney comes first) more than makes up for it.
Posted by: Grace
wow, wel i wish i could by theses but sounds too expensive, might start saving up now or borow my friends later
Posted by: Lina Lovegood
It's too bad these weren't released at the same time as the other editions... now pratically everyone has already spent money by the original DVDs and now WBros are tempting us with extra footage/ features years later. Are they really worth it?
Posted by: OfyourGoodness
@Lina Lovegood ~ Anything new HP is cool, right?!
Posted by: Richard
Ill be so pissed if thhey sell the extended versions seperate.....
Posted by: Andrew Scardino
They would not sell them separately with already setting the standard of the first two. The only reason I see no extended versions is if the director just did not film any extra and there is really none to show. I personally hated the third movie and think that director screwed the whole thing, movie, no pip, no deleted scenes and more.
Posted by: Derrick Davis
Perhaps if A LOT of people write to WB asking for extended versions, they may include them. It's still a few months before October. They could easily do this, especially if there already is extended versions available on ABC (is there?).
Posted by: Anselmo Miller
i am not sure if ill be getting these im not sure if it will be worth the money i already have the original movies
Posted by: OfyourGoodness
Just so all sides are resounded equally....Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban is, by QUITE a stretch, the very best Harry Potter film to date. Alfonso Curon is a Godsend.
The Deathly Hallows trailer DOES threaten to excel.
Please understand, I very much respect EVERY opinion. It does them justice to set them against one another.
((happy posting))
Posted by: Chris Davis
This is exciting, and I can't wait, but WHY are they not including extended cuts? That makes me really mad, and makes me not want to buy them, because I loved the extended cuts of the first two!
Posted by: Brian
I'm getting the Goblet of Fire Ultimate Editions because
1) I already have PoA
2)I don't want to see Aragog because I'm scared of spiders (espicially huge ones)
3) The sound and music segment seems interesting
4)GoF is my favorite HP Flick next to HBP and (when they come out) DH 1&2
Posted by: Jonathan Williams
So neither of these come with Extended Editions, but the question I have is whether extended editions for 3 and 4 ever existed in the first place. The extended editions of 1 and 2 were created for TV airing but I wasn't aware that extended 3 or 4 were ever shown on TV.
Posted by: Brattyc
@Jonathan Williams~ ABC Family does show an extended version of both...POA doesn't have much added, but the added scenes are awesome in GOF and I was really looking forward to the extended version of that. But I did record it on DVD when it was on the marathon, but like to have it without commercials-lol. By the way, Amazon now has both sets up for pre-order, if anyone is interested in them :).
Posted by: Alexis
i`m sure they will have the extended version for 3 - 4 on DVD, because i have the first two && they both include the extended versions :)
