What a perfect split point!
I would have preferred another place.

Big news!  Scans from the Entertainment Weekly feature we told you about just a short time ago are now online thanks to RupertGrint.net.  In it, they reveal the split for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and lots of new stills!

OMG!!! WHEERE IS THE SPLIT!!!??

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:46:24

I don't think I'm going to read the split thing so as to not be spoiled. The pictures look cool though!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:49:21

They said Chapter 24 is the split, when Voldemort gets the Wand. :o!!! The new pictures and character headshots are amazing!! The minister looks perfect, Bagshot looks perfect, and everyone else just looks perfect. Can't wait for these films!!1@!@

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:49:47

IT'S OFFICIAL!!! *Spoiler*: Part 1 ends with the snatcher scene!!!! YAY!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:50:53

Lol Hermione's hands are bloody again!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:52:22

Never mind, saw where the split was :p Anyway, that means we'll get to see Malfoy Manor and Shell Cottage in Part I right?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:53:29

That Ginny/Harry kiss looks to be before the wedding scene right?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:54:04

Oh crap, I forgot to put a spoiler alert. OMG I'm sorry for anyone who didn't want to know. I was just excited and was answering Mayha G answer! If only I had a way to edit that post. :( :( :'(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:54:07

Wait, I just checked. Part 1 ends with Dobby dying!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:54:16

While not nearly as "dramatic" as I was hoping for, it will definitely give the audience a bit of a breath at the end of the film. And the defacing of Dumbledore's grave will be an EXCELLENT ending. So, I suppose that IS rather climactic. Well done! Did not expect that to be the ending - didn't really think about it that way. This should be great! Thanks for the pics!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:55:45

those pics look awesome!!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:57:04

I believe that Malfoy Manor is chapter 23, so it should be in Part 1.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:58:22

YUS!! that's where i was hoping it would be!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 11:59:29

*Spoiler* After checking my copy of DH, Chapter 23 is Malfoy Manor, Ch. 24 is the Wandmaker. We will in fact see Dobby die. But I seem to recall Helena Boham Carter saying she wasn't in Part I, but that is incorrect isn't it?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:01:10

*SPOILER ALERT*: I don't really know if I'm happy or sad or a bit both. For such a while, I'd been hoping that the snatcher scene would end Part I, but now it's Dobby dying...In a way, I'm happy 'cause it'll leave everyone hanging but how on earth will the fit everything in Part I??? I have faith in the David Yates, so either way I know it'll stick to the books.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:03:32

@Zack: You're right that is a whole to fit into just part I. Here's hoping it turns out ok.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:04:03

FINALLY! I'm excited where they're split the film. I say an "emergency" live Mugglecast!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:04:05

I am so unbelievably excited. This is a brilliant split point. Plus, I just checked and the last line of chapter 24 almost sounds like it could've been an ending. "The spiderlike hand swooped and pulled the wand from Dumbledore's grasp, and as he took it, a shower of sparks flew from its tip, sparkling over the corpse of its last owner, ready to serve a new master at last." The end. I can see that being very dramatic.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:04:34

I really hope MM is Part 1. I couldn't wait all the way till next July!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:05:08

It's too bad we already saw part of that final scene in the trailer, with Voldemort raising the wand to the sky. Either way, I'm sure it will be EPIC. Now that I think about it, it IS quite climactic.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:05:40

SPOILER Woot! I'm good. That's what I've been thinking all along should be the split. That lightning scene from the trailer will be an awesome ending to Part 1.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:07:27

Everyone is right, it IS so DRAMATIC and intense! I just hope this doesn't affect Part I too much, becuase I'd hate to see Part I so rushed.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:07:55

I totally didn't expect the split to be there! I'm not dissapointed with it, but Warner Brothers got me off my guard with that one! This isn't the full article though right? Because the it looks like there was at least one more page. Great article!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:08:14

@Kara: I find it quite funny how in the book it's just a shower of sparks and in the movie it's going to be this massive lighting thing.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:08:39

hi guys is this magazine going to come out in FLORIDA??? (USA) when tomorrow??? omg im gonna pass out for real i will die if sooo

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:09:07

The fact that it ends with a point of showing Voldemort with such power is dramatic. It'll leave movie watchers wondering what they're possibly going to do now. You couldn't end the first part with Voldemort looking weak.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:09:16

I personally love the idea of part 1 ending with Voldemort obtaining the Elder Wand. Like I've said before, that will allow for a great climax (Malfoy Manor), an emotional conclusion (Dobbie's death), and a cliffhanger (Voldemort getting the unbeatable wand).

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:12:04

omg the pics are great .....and there are 2 shots of luna's house so tht means its all in the movie .....like omg and yeh ppl this whole article is only based on part 1 ....read the first page again so all the pics are only from part 1 so we see luna's dad and bella in part 1 nw i cant breathe .....bella looks soooo pretty

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:13:39

I have to apologize to WB...I guess they saved the best info for us fans who've been WAITING for the Comic Con footage and Japanese footage, and to reward us in a way for being so patient.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:15:16

Yeah, Malfoy Manor has to be that BIG ENDING EVENT that every HP movie has. It will be the "battle" for part one.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:15:49

This is EXACTLY where I was hoping it'd be! Right when Harry gets a kick in his pants to move forward :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:16:08

Not liking where the split is but the pictures are great and made me squee very loudly.GAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!<33 I can't breathe right now.OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG <3

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:16:23

I am very happy with the part that they decided to end with

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:17:19

YES! BLOODY HANDS!!! But to be honest, I really wanted them to split as the trio is being dragged into Malfoy Manor, that way they could start Part II from the same moment, but from a different perspective (within the Malfoy home so we see their excitement at the trio's capture, as well as Draco's resignation to support Voldemort) and then use the camera to change perspective back to the trio's. I think this was really effective as a recap for The Two Towers when we saw the same scene again but in a different way and could easily have been adapted to this film to amazing effect.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:17:34

The split is absolutely perfect and it seems as if the Harry's birthday kiss is going to be at the wedding instead. I don't mind that. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:18:56

I love where the split is!!!! That's the perfect spot to end part 1!!! OMG and how the article said about a part where Emma and Rupert were destroying another horcrux and were soaked in water must have been in the chamber of secrets cause it said it was just the two of them there destroying it. Yayayay! I wanna see the Chamber of Secrets again!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:20:26

I love that they're doing the split after Voldemort gets the wand. I'm so happy we finally found out where it is going to be, too. And I love that we'll see the Chamber of Secrets again! The tsunami sounds awesome!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:21:04

@Cristina, I agree. I think that they should've split it there, but for some reason, this split is growing on me.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:21:36

What happened to the next page of the article??? I'll have to buy the magazine now just to read up on it!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:24:57

This confirms the scene that takes place in the Chamber of Secrets!!! When describing the scene in the room of requrement, it says that Ron and Hermione are both soaking wet, as they had just destroyed a horcrux while in water. In the book, ron and hermione go to the chamber about that time. It also said that after destroying the horcrux, they were pursued by a voldemort shaped tsunami! sounds pretty awesome. Also, if you need more confirmation, in one of the Abc Family featurettes, about twenty seconds in there is a shot of Ron and Hermione entering a room that looks just like the chamber from the second movie! I'm excited.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:26:09

@Christina and @Zack, I would of loved the split to be there too! But I do really like where it is, and the movie will still be great. I think they'll try and make the split as dramatic as possible. I love the stills, too :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:26:49

Actually, now that I've thought about it more, the split is good but it makes me nervous. Part 1 is like 75% of the book lol. I don't know how they're going to stay faithful to the first half because everything is so important.... of course they can trim down all the forest scenes but I just hope they don't rush through very important plot lines that explain to the audience what's going on. They seem to do that a lot.. especially in the 5th and 6th movie. BUT I guess this means that most of part 2 will be the battle. It's going to be the most epic battle ever.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:28:08

I am VERY happy about the split!!! :D :D :D :D :D: D:D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:29:07

@ScottScott You can find the final page of the article on RuprtGrint.net if you just click the link and look at the gallery of scans. I am so unbelievably excited about all this. YAY!!!!!! I love where the split is, and if they end the movie with that shot of Voldemort breaking Dumbledore's grave open and the lightning shooting up from it into the trees, it'll be absolutely perfect. I CAN'T WAIT!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:29:08

Yes! this confirms the chamber of scecrets scene! also, in one of the abc family featurettes. there's a shot of Ron and Hermione entering the chamber about twenty seconds in. and a voldemort shaped tsunami? sounds like they're making this a pretty big scene! I can't wait!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:29:11

Theres a page missing. Page 6 and 7. Has more photos of characters.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:30:09

Wow. I cant believe they are splitting DH that far into the book! I dont really know how i feel about it though. I thought they would keep Dobby dying in Part 2. I guess too many other deaths during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:30:17

Sounds great but does anyone else think that part 1 is going to be really rushed? :/ when you think about how much there is going to be in it I'm worried that part 1 isn't going to be as good as part 2. Some of my favourite scenes are in part 1 and I don't want them to be rushed :(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:30:18

So Malfoy Manor be in Part 1? I was kind of hoping it wouldn't. There are a lot of action scenes in Part 1 now.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:30:59

@Jason Anderson...Go to Rupertgrint.net!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:31:46

Something that i've been pondering since the release of the previews. In the trailers, you see Harry releasing Hedwig at Privet Drive, but in the book, I don't think he does so. And in these pictures of him in the side car, I do not see her cage. I wonder if they wrote out Hedwig's death. I wouldn't mind that at all, but I'd like to know if this has crossed anyone elses mind.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:32:08

http://rupertgrintgallery.com/displayimage.php?pid=24815&fullsize=1 This is the missing page.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:34:48

*spoiler* I agree with Christina, I think it would have been pretty amazing if they split it when they were being captured by the snatchers, like right after Harry accidentally says "Voldemort" and the snatchers arrive, then the screen goes black because Ron uses the Deluminator, and then you hear the snatchers telling them to come out because they're outnumbered and whatnot. However, I think the split they chose is good too, cause it is like a turning point/climax, because this is when they're at shell cottage and Harry makes the choice to go after the Horcruxes instead of trying to stop Voldemort from getting the Elder Want. The only thing that worries me is that I have a feeling of apprehension that part 1 is going to feel too rushed or they're going to leave out a lot, because I looked at the book, and they're putting like more than 2/3 of the book into part one, so I don't know. If it ends up like that, then I will most definately be expecting a bloody epic Battle of Hogwarts, since it looks like most of part two will be focusing on that. And I don't think they'll disappoint :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:35:26

I SO CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS! I THINK THEY SPLIT JUST IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!! THIS FILM IS GOING TO BE SO AWESOME!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:35:30

Joey L, Hedwig's cage could be hiding somewhere in the sidecar. I don't think they would write out her death.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:35:33

I am so glad about the bloody hands! And I love the split just like I pictured it :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:36:37

Oh! Thats the dude from Snatch!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:40:06

Ahh,thank you for the link. We're finally seeing what Scrimgeour and Bathilda will look like.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:40:12

Haider, Harry lets Hedwig fly off before they take off. She then comes back and protects Harry from a curse, which is how they know he's the real Harry.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:41:11

Guys, STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS FILM BEING TOO RUSHED!!!!!! THEY COULD JUST AS EASILY HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP THIS AS JUST ONE FILM!!! THEN WHAT WOULD YOU BE COMPLAINING ABOUT?!?! DO YOU EVEN REALIZE HOW LUCKY WE ARE? sorry, had to vent :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:41:37

Jason, yes I've heard that, too, but since none of us have actually seen the movie, I'm not going to believe it until I see it. :P

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:44:21

Actually, I think what Jason said makes a lot more sense, I mean aren't stuffed owls a little too obvious? The guard simply could have told Harry to have her fly off to Grimmauld Place on her own, and she's even been there before. It just makes more sense.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:45:00

Oh yeah, when I first saw the pic of Bathilda Bagshot I thought it was Wormtail.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:46:03

@Tegan, I dont think it'll be rushed, I've just re-read the last book, and I think what takes most of it up is narrative about them camping. they just need to cut out the pointless scenes, or just not go into depth about them, just shots of them travelling will do. I reckon itll be perfect x

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:48:08

@Jason: That at least means Hedwig will get a proper death, protecting Harry, not like in the book. What I thought was interesting was that one of the last scenes they filmed was in a closet during the Ministry of Magic Scenes (when they jinx the Ministry worker). I guess they refilmed that, because we had seen pictures of that back in 2009. As David Yates said, "In a way, the series started with a cupboard and ended with one."

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:48:59

SO excited about the split....it will make the ending of Part I very dramatic!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:49:28

When Voldemort gets the Elder Wand the book is 66% over. But, that doesn't mean that they have to put more material in the part 1 film. I'm thinking that they will cut a lot of the camping scenes out (at least the ones that are not really important). Plus, everything that happens in part 2 is important to the story. Ron saying how he doesn't like the fish that Harry caught and Hermione cooked isn't as important as Snape's memories or the final showdown between Harry and Voldemort (obviously). There was a rumor that the Battle of Hogwarts would take up 45 minutes to an hour of screen time. If that's true, then that alone would be about a third of the movie.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:50:11

@ Sasha, yeah I suppose :/ It just seems like so much for one film but as long as they do the Silver Doe part justice I'll be happy :D x

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:50:19

I can ust imagine Harry making up his mind about pursuing the Horcruxes, and Rona and Hermione saying what about the Hallows? (or something like that) and Harry saing: It's too late, Voldemort has the elder wand. And then the shot of Voldemort over Dumbledore's tomb taking the wand. OMG its gunna be epiccc

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:51:41

It shouldn't be too rushed, think of the events compared to a normal movie, with MM being the climax, etc. The only part I can see them not spending a lot of time on is the endless camping, I can see Yates doing more montages than actual scenes, especially after Ron leaves. I love the split because I don't want to have to wait until July to see MM!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:51:53

@Pantera2012 "Ron saying how he doesn't like the fish that Harry caught and Hermione cooked isn't as important as Snape's memories or the final showdown between Harry and Voldemort" That made me laugh :D I suppose things like that could be cut out :P

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:56:58

I love this split so much! In my opinion, it's the perfect spot. I know a lot of people were hoping for it to end with the Snatchers, but I feel like that would be way to intense to start Part Two off with... Dobby's death within the first ten minutes of the movie? I just can't see that part being done at the beginning and having it done well. This ending, the more I think about it, is even better than what I imagined.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:59:01

I am very concerned now. :( What is all that about Ron and Hermione killing a horcrux in water and being chased by a tsunami; and Hedwig?!?!?!?!?! I am so not happy right now. On a happier note...I like the new photos :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 12:59:39

This is a perfect spilt point!!! The photos are amazing!! I am so excited!!!!! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:00:48

Cicely, the Ron and Hermione thing is when they kill the Cup Horcrux. They want to show it instead of talk about it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:02:01

More stills if anyone (all of you) are interested! http://s972.photobucket.com/albums/ae201/RupertGrintNet/Entertainment%20Weekly%20Fall%202010%20Preview/

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:02:49

it wasnt MY IDEA but I LIKE IT

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:03:29

it asnt MY IDEA but i LIKE it

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:04:15

the split sounds AMAZING!!!! though i was hoping for the snatchers scene but it think voldie with the elder wand is also rather good! this article was awesome! the photos were AMAZING and i think november needs to hurry up and get here!!!!!! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:04:59

@Tegan, Yeah The silver Doe scene is one of my favourite scenes, I hope they do it justice, and I really hope they show Harry finding Lilly's letter, because I want that to be one of the memories they include in The Princes Tale.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:06:11

I like it. It has to be true right? But how did they know? Shouldn't it have been a secret?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:08:18

I kind of wanted the split to be a big mystery for everyone, but I quite like the place they have chosen for it! Thats about exactly where I thought it should be. 98 DAYS UNTIL WE GET TO WITNESS THE SPLIT AND ALL OF THESE WONDERFUL STILLS!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:08:54

I looked at all the pics and I love them! I, however didn't read anything and won't read any comments. I do not want to know where the movie is being slit. I want it a big surprise!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:09:18

Talk about a spoiler alert! Well, at least I can go into the movie and not get my hopes up; I don't like where they're splitting it. It's not that exciting, or cliffhanger-ish

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:11:31

Did anyone else read that part about killing the horcrux in water and then being chased by a "Voldemort-shaped tsunami"?? I thought that seemed pretty stupid and it definitely wasn't in the books.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:13:03

I always said it would occur after Dobby's death! SWEETNESS. It will be perfect. Part two should really be called Harry Potter and the Elder Wand.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:14:06

Well, this means that A LOT of the plot will be condensed into Part 1 and that Part 2 will be entirely devoted to the final battle. I had originally thought they would split it when Mr. Lovegood asks them if they're referring to the Deathly Hallows, but I like this way better. This is kind of what was done on the Titanic DVD, where the first disc is everything that leads up to the crash, and the second disc is solely focused on the boat sinking.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:17:46

I'm happy with where it's split and all but I don't think there's a lot of book left after that. I mean, will they both be two and a half hours long? Looks like part one will but part two?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:22:37

I admit, I'm a little confused on the time split between Part 1 and Part 2. It feels like Part 1 will be like the first act of a musical, where it's longer than Part 2. Then again, Voldemort seizing the elder wand is really the end of the gritty realism part of the story, and the beginning of the epic fantasy section of Deathly Hallows.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:23:18

HOLY GEORGE WEASLEY!!!! I am so happy to know when it happens, though I admit that I hoped it would be at the end of Chapter 23, but looking back, it seems like 24 would be better because we wouldn't all be crying about dobby at the very end. Will there be a live Mugglecast?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:24:11

I'm kind of skeptical when they said part 2 was going to be more of a fantasy view. I hope this doesn't take away from the real action and dramatic scenes that are supposed to be included. Other than that, the split is perfect and a great way to end Part 1 :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:27:06

Whoa, that's alot to take in!!! I have to say that I'm a little dissapointed, I think they're cutting it a little too late. The second part is going to be all bloodshed. It might not even make the second part worth seeing 'cause it will just make me cry! :( I wish they would have cut it at, like, Shell Cottage or something. As for the pics, Hermione's hands are BLOODY!!!! Why??? That really confuses me! Makes me wonder why they kept them clean in the trailer even more... Also, about that shot of Harry crawling on the floor, where is he??? And why is he covered in featheres??? Did Fawkes just have a burning (Err, exploding!) day? Gosh, this jusst confuses me!!!!! This whole thing makes me so friggin' xcited for November!!!!! Midnight premire is looking really good right now...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:33:37

To answer some of your questions from above: Hermione's hands are bloody becuase that's right after they apparate out of the minisrty and into the forest and Ron gets splinched in the process, hence the blood. And the shot of Harry on the floor is when the trio are attacked at the Lovegood house. Harry is holing out to grab either Ron or Hermione to apparate. I hope that helps!

@Peacefreak17 - In terms of Hermione's hands not being bloody in the trailer: You can't show blood in trailers, so they removed it for the trailer only. In the actual movie, her hands will be bloody.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:34:43

@Peacefreak17... He's in Luna's house, you can see that the counter is curved to fit the wall.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:35:34

I like the spot they chose. While the split point is very late in the book, this also means that the second movie is going to have a lot of the battle at Hogwarts and I'm okay with that because they completely skipped it in HBP.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:36:35

If the movies follow the timeline of the book, this means that the entire second movie will consist of two basic segments: The Gringotts heist and the Battle at Hogwarts. The trio do not sleep from the moment they leave Shell Cottage until the end.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:36:42

everyone should stop freaking out about the split. if you think about it, it really is a good place to end part 1, I mean the end of that chapter alone in the book is a good cliffhanger. yes most of the book will be in part one but that doesnt mean part 2 will be short. Battle scenes in books can be drawn out alot longer in films. take the chronicles of narnia for instance, in the lion the witch and the wardrobe the battle was 1 freakin chapter, but in the movie it was like 20 min. so yeah part 2 will be just as good, if not better

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:37:11

perfect place for it. when i read this ( 3years ago) lol i thought that would be a perfect place to end it because all hope seemed gone.I thought no way would harry survive now. everyone will just be getting over Dobbys death while Harry has already figured out about the Hallows and Horcruxes, Ron and Hermoine (along with the 7 people who didnt read the book) will be shocked and go oh s**t Lmao

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:40:53

It's awesome because all of Part 2 will be one huge day. Wake up, infiltrate Gringotts, fly off to Hogwarts, final battle and such, then defeat Voldemort. Excellent.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:41:50

YES! YES! YES!!!!!!!! I was crossing my fingers that Voldemort would get the Elder Wand at the end of the first. Now there's 3 possibilities though. They could caught, then Voldy gets the wand, get taken to Malfoy Manor then Voldy gets the wand, and finally Dobby dies then Voldy gets the wand. Whichever one it is, VOLDEMORT gets the wand for an epic ending.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:42:42

AWESOME. I'm loving the pictures, and while I slightly feel part one MIGHT be rushed, I also think that the split will be just fine. It's a great note to end the first film on... AND, it ALSO means they'll be able to do more justice to all of the Gringotts and the BATTLE sequences.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:45:04

I kind of wanted them to split it right at the snatcher scene when they get caught cause thats like so suspensful and people who havent read the book would be like wtf how are they gonna get out of this, but this is cool to i can imagine exactly how they're gonna end it with voldemort oh damn this is gonna be crazyy so excited!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:46:06

Jason, Oh that makes sense then. I forgot about that. Thanks

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:46:44

It seems as Though they Jam alot of information in to the first one. Too much in my opinion but as a harry potter die hard in a way its better cause i don't have to wait till july to watch malfoy manor.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:48:48

@ shannon what better way to end it than for (the audience) to feel there is no hope left? Voldemort will seem unbeatable and it makes you want to know if Harry will die......which he must anyway but they wont know that lmao

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 13:58:17

I read the article in Entertainment Weekly and the movie is gonna be AWESOME! I like the place where they put the split, it's the perfect place!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:07:48

Hmmmmm,im kinda confused... On page six they say the very last scene of Harry Potter was very emotional but thyen it goes on to say that in the scene the break into the ministry of magic, and that wasnt the very last scene...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:07:58

I think its a great place for the split! I only hope it leaves enough for part 2. After that part in the book theres really only gringotts and the hogwarts battle, am I wrong? I love the stills as well! I get more excited by the day!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:10:07

I promised myself I wouldn't spoil it, but I gave in. I love the the split point! It's brilliant, I can just imagine how perfectly it'll work out. I can't wait until November! :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:10:54

i was right about the split! its when voldemort gets the wand! HAAAAAAAAA AWESOME AWESOME

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:15:10

i knew it would be this part, because it was almost like JKR was ending a book there, with harry figuring out and revealing everything to ron and hermione! and then voldemort getting the wand and making us wonder "how the fuk will they defeat him now!?"

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:17:19

@Michael - Actually, it says that the Ministry of Magic break-in scene was the last scene that was filmed, not that that it is the last scene in the movie. The last scene in Part 2 is the Epilogue.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:17:25

i thought the split would be at Dobby's death,,,,,but it extends a bit to the next chapter as well..i jus checked the chapter 24 in my book, that part of voldemort taking the wand would sure look scary,,.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:17:53

I can't wait for them to discuss this on mugglecast.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:20:21

Ooh, these pics are so good! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:20:44

also, lol at anyone who is complaining "too much info for part 1", think about it! part 2 NEEDS running time for action, action and fights take too many minutes! and if part 1 didnt end with voldemort getting the wand, it probably would not have the malfoy thing, basically, it would be an incomplete film! ppl would complain, it would disappoint the audience that didnt read the book, this split is the most perfect possible, get everything solved part 1, everything about the deathly hallows, and then everything they build up for part 2!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:23:29

For everyone worried about the first film being rushed: I've long thought that this would be the split point. There are many reasons for that which I won't get into in this comment, but I was also worried about timing. A few weeks ago I took the time to list out every important scene in the book and predict the amount of time that would be spent on them. Both of my theoretical movies came out around the same length (2:20), without (at least in my view) rushing anything or leaving anything out. There are a lot of important things happening at once in Part 2: a lot of very visual action sequences as well as important plot elements and vital explanations. Even though Part 2 takes up only about a third of the book, I think the two movies can be of comparable length without screwing up Part 1. I'm extremely pleased to hear the news of this split!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:24:09

i looked up the spot in my book and theres only 12 chapters in part 2, wheres as theres 24 in part 1. Im a little bit worried now that theres going to be too much important scenes crammed into part 1. I think David Yates and the rest of the crew are brillant so I think it will work out, but I was hoping the ending would be right when they get caught by the snatchers. Im so glad they kept Ron and Hermione going into the chamber together though, i wonder if they'll actually show it to us, not just them talking to harry about it afterwards like in the books. Anyway i am PUMPED for this movie. i think as of now Im more excited for part1 then part2! @Lindsey I agree! It will beresting to hear their opinions. They said we'll get another Mugglecast on the 18th so soon!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:33:32

I love the stills and EW article and the split sounds great. I'm not gonna make any comments about the movie(s) before I've seen them. HP movies ALWAYS sounds so epic and great and awsome yet when I see them I'm like yeah good but nothing more.. (Please be epic!!!)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:36:00

@Kathryn dont worry :D, it will work perfectly, part 1 will complete a cycle, presenting us the deathly hallows, so they can use them in part 2. Its not too much info, because JKR spent too much time with them being bored in the forests, they will probably put only a little of this, and make it more action packed, its perfect, it will work so well. If part 1 did not end in this part, i would be pretty disappointed right now, because it would make no sense

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:39:20

haha i just got the magazine today in the mail :D nd i cut out the whole article and the front page of harry!!!!!!! YEEEE

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:40:12

That is a 100% perfect split point! If anyone thinks part 2 won’t have enough info... think of this: 1. part 2 will open with shell cottage (at least 20 minutes)... 2. harry ron and hermione breaking into gringotts stealing the horcrux and flying off with the dragon to the lake( final hiding place…. At least 30 minutes) 3. after that is the trio going to hogsmead (close call with the death eaters) and going to the hogs head to talk to Dumbledore’s brother and we meat Neville there and go into Hogwarts (at least 20 minutes) 4. after that is everyone in the room of requirement and talking about what the final horcrux could be and also luna taking harry up the ravenclaw tower and the fight with the carrows (again.. at least 20 minutes) 5. this is where the action begins! (the battle of Hogwarts!) meeting severus snape and seeing him jump out the window and flying… harry looking where ron and hermione are… meets up with hagrid and grawp… then runsinto ron and Hermione and they tell him about dystroying the horcruz in the COS and then them going to the room of requirement and finding the lost diadem… meeting up with draco and his gang and the fire fight breaks out… crabbe dies… they get out of the room almost dying from the fire and meet up with percey and fred… then fred dies :’( (at least 20 to 30 minutes) 6. after that is the shrieking shack scene with voldemort and snape… snape gets attack by nagini and is dying while giving harry one last look into his eyes and handing him over the memory. (10 to 15 minutes) 7. the princes tale! We learn everything about snape! (at least 10 to 15 minutes) 8. after that… the rest of the battle! Harry going into the forrest… fight with voldemort… dying…. Talking to dumbledore… hagrid carring him back… everyone on the Hogwarts grounds… Neville killing nagini… harry getting away… FINAL FIGHT with voldemort and harry… harry kills voldemort! (30 minutes) 9. 19 years later (5 to 10 minutes) GRAND TOTAL = at least 170 minutes = 2 hours and 40 minutes -peace

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:41:17

I won't even lie...I cried while reading the EW article.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:41:45

Yes!!! I love it! Great split point. They should definitely have Dobby's death be in part 1 so that it'll be more emotional after we've spent some time with him during part 1 rather than wait until part 2 when it's been a while since we've seen him and then have him die at the very beginning. Uber excited here! :D (And a bit relieved! I never liked the idea of ending it with the Snatchers and starting part 2 with something as intense as Malfoy Manor.)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:42:25

Wow wow wow. I was not expecting that splitting point, but when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Its a pretty pivotal moment. Also, I love the new stills, the Malfoys and Bellatrix at Malfoy Manor was VERY exciting :3

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:46:23

When I read Deathly Hallows, I was flabbergasted by just how much important stuff happens from the point they reach Hogwarts through to the end. There's so much story. So much character development. So much action, so much emotion, and so much finality and depth to it that I thought, wow, the last 15 or so chapters of this book could make up an entire film in of itself. When they announced the split, I wasn't surprised because no screenwriter would ever be able to successfully translate this book into one picture without making it run for more than 3.5 hours or so-- and even then it would be rushed. So, it comes as absolutely no surprise to me that Part II will open with the moments leading up to Hogwarts and it makes me feel even more confident for these films than I already was. Kloves read the book and understood just how important and prominent virtually every single sequence encapsulated for a number of characters and thus understood that making a ton of cuts and rushing these scenes would not only cheat the fans, and the audience, but the strength and power of the final book as well. I know that people have complained about cuts and things being rushed, but guys, this time, I honestly believe that they're heading in a better direction than ever seen before with these films, and that's saying a load considering how great they've been.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:47:20

Just downloaded all of those scans, really good information and love the pictures. And while I feel Part one MIGHT be a little rushed, I also think that Voldemort getting the Elder wand after breaking into Dumbledore's tomb is a GREAT note to end the first film on. AND, it also means the Battle sequences in the second part will get a lot of justice. I'm hoping for the best. Now Part one seems even closer. XD

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:48:44

Very excited for film. I like where they are going to split it. I feel as if the film is going to be amazing. I may not like a few of the story tweaks here or there but thats what happens with book adaptations. A book doesn't always translate directly into film. I also beleive that Dan, Rupert, and Emma's final act as the trio will just be so captivating. It makes me realize its ending soooonnnnn. Its just so bitter sweet.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:50:38

Guys, there is enough material for both films. I think part two need to focus more on the battle. I'm sure the last hour or hour and a half of part 2 will be plain battle. I think the split point is perfect, only because audiences will need a refresher about the significance of the Deathly Hallows and how severe it is if they fall into the wrong hands. I was observing the pics for the film and I am impressed, very impressed. Part 1 looks pretty real in the sense that the lighting and overall sets reflect the turmoils of the characters. When Harry is handing Hermione the book, that part looks emotionally heavy. I like what Yates has done; he is making each film difference in tone. I like that he's making Part1 more raw and real while leaving the epic fantasy opera for the last part. I cannot wait for this. I was also impressed with the image of the Death Eaters assembled at Malfoy Manor; it looked very dark, gritty, and gloomy. I made an observation on Scrimgeour that does not bother me (but it's just a casual observation). He looks a lot like the young Dumbledore in HBP: wearing similar robes with the scarf, and the hair combed in the same fashion. However, I do like how Yates has made these wizards and witches dress less whimsically. It makes the Ministry of Magic seem more real.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:54:05

I don't think Part I will be rushed, but I'm excited at how fast paced it will play out. I mean, by the very nature and atmosphere of the story, these characters are consistently in loads of danger, and they're on their own. They don't know where to go, or what they should be doing, or when a Death Eater or Snatcher or even Voldemort himself could appear at any corner waiting for them. The first half of the book is a rollercoaster ride and I completely understand why Yates is shooting it with handheld cameras; it's to capture that sense of imbalance and chaos, and the idea that these chase/hiding sequences will be split up by emotionally intense moments-- whether it's Ron and Harry fighting or being ambushed by a giant snake that was hiding in some old woman's body, or Harry crying at his parents' grave-- more or less ensures that these films will seriously take us by surprise.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:55:54

@Sean emery: That makes SO much more sense. Now that I think about it, there is plenty of information to include in Part II. It just makes me even more excited for November and then July.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:56:11

the split is perfect!! part 1 will end with a sense of closure but it sets everything up for the higher stakes of part 2 after Voldemort acquires the elder wand. And the last scene of part 1 will be really tense and exciting as Harry decides once and for all which is more important...horcruxes or hallows...and ending with Voldemort gaining so much power will be really dramatic!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 14:59:58

I LOVE the Xenophilius picture. It's fantastic! Looks like he'll make a good Xeno :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:02:00

AWESOME. I thought they might split it at Dobbies funneral at Shell Cottage but this is so much better. I am now more excited for Pt 1 than Pt 2!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:04:44

wow great stils.....all the new characters look great. Im okay with alot of battle in part 2 cause the hbp battle was cut mostly. Did anyone hear about the guy claiming to have saw a screening of the film?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:05:53

Nice summary, Sean emery.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:06:14

PERFECT SPLIT!! I'm definitely buying that EW issue!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:06:22

Am I seeing things or did they really change Helen McCrory / Narcissa's hair to brown instead of blond?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:16:03

omgg!!! this is sooo amazing!!!!!! i love it!! can't wait to see it!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:16:35

Sean emery, that a nice summary, but some parts I felt would not go as long as you said. Watching the 5th and 6th movies, David Yates kind of rushes through things, doesn't really explain things properly and just leaves non readers to assume stuff, so some of those scenes, I think, will be shorter. But who knows, none of us have seen the movies. We're just desperately guessing, to get us through the last few months.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:17:18

Liliana, you aren't seeing things, but look closer...the top is brown, the bottom is blonde. That's how it was in Half-Blood Prince as well. It looks completely ridiculous and I don't know why they didn't just make her a blonde like she's supposed to be. It's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen, she looks like a skunk.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:20:53

Ahhhhh!!! I so called that ages weeks ago! I told one of my friends that'd I thought it would be the perfect place to split because it is very dramatic! :) She thought I was crazy.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:25:29

Actually, I never noticed it in Half Blood Prince, I thought that she had a hat on! But thanks for pointing it out, Tyler! And I agree with you completely! She does look ridiculous!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:28:45

I was hoping it'd end there! It's perfect...I have chills!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:29:17

@ haider.... true true... he did rush OOTP and HBP very fast!... i love the movies so much and those are the only complaints i have with them.. but since book 7 is two parts... there will be so much more detail... and HP movies are always between 2 hours and 30m in to 2 hours and 40 min.. so idk.. im thinking my guesses will be pretty close.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:41:42

1) This movie is going to be beautiful. 2) Why does Harry ONLY kiss people from the right side of the screen? Really!? I mean this is the fourth kiss we've seen and in EVERY one he is kissing with only head and shoulders facing right. You'd thing we could get like waist up or something at least to get variety. 3) The part where they discuss the last scene hurts my heart. But, I'm so glad to hear it was (basically) just the trio. No big crowded epilogue. They got to have a nice intimate ending together. :) It's cool that they were their normal characters not older versions. And it is poetic in a way. Perhaps the best thing to film last would have been the rush in of people after Voldemort's defeat. The happiness would have been really cool, but alas.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:48:57

Just want to throw this out there... HERMIONE'S HANDS ARE BLOODY AGAIN! WOO!!! And I'm glad to see they're keeping Harry and Ginny's kiss at the Burrow, I would've been pissed if they didn't keep it. And what a nice way to end it. With *spoiler alert* Dobby dead. Yay. OOOOHHHH NOOOOO!!! HE'S DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!! D':

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:50:31

This totally caught me by suprise!! Its kinda a wierd split! But I LOVE the pictures, the movies are going to be soooo epic!!!! I hope they have more pictures coming out :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:51:34

@ Robert Francis.... when they were discussing the last scene in the EW article they didn't mean the last scene that will be in the film. They just meant the last scene that the trio FILMED together. They don't film things in chronological order. As we saw in the photos of Epilogue filming from King's Cross, they are in fact aged version of themselves in the ep. scene.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 15:56:39

i cant wait for the movie, the pics were awesome

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:00:57

They did a good job, but a better climax would have been when Bellatrix was throwing the knife at Harry, Ron, and Dobby and it goes pitch black.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:04:03

Andrew Sims! We need a Mugglecast episode about this!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:08:42

I really like where the split is, it's a good place for it. There's a lot of action in the first part and you know that they have time to really drag the final battle out and make it the most epic movie battle in history. The pictures look amazing! Ginny and Harry kissing - can you ever get enough of that pair? The article was extremely moving (well for an article about a movie of course). But in all honesty Harry Potter has been such a big part of so man people's lives, it's really sad to think about it ending. Does anyone else feel like it's been so long, but at the same time too soon? Of course nothing lasts forever, and you wouldn't want it to either (though 40 Harry Potter books would be great, it would lose something if it were stretched that far). It's just so BIG! It's like graduating from high school or something, though you know it must happen, and you're exited for the end, there's still a part of you that wishes you could walk those halls everyday of your life (well, without the home work of course). The best thing about a series like this though, is that the fans have as much influence on how big it becomes and how big it remains to be, long after the end, as the series itself. And if you ask me, no matter what the reporters say, no matter what anyone says for that matter, something as grand and as influential as Harry Potter never really ends.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:17:44

SWEET! so dobby will be the end? aww that sad :'(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:19:35

Its a nice place for the split, but I MUCH would have preferred when Xeno says "Are you referring to the sign of the Deathly Hallows?" and then the camera could have zoomed out the window and up into the sky while playing Hedwig's theme. I've had that spot in mind for a while, if you can imagine. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:21:43

In your face everyone who thought anything else :P

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:25:49

@Jacqueline: That would be a terrible ending, lol

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:25:54

Can someone refresh my memory, did Voldemort get the elder wand before Dobby died or after?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:27:00

I never actually thought that this is where the split would happen but it makes perfect sense. I don't have my book right now to find out where exactly it happens but I'm sure it will be great. I do kind of wish that the exact point of the split would have stayed secret until the movie but since it's out I couldn't help reading it and I know that they will talk about it on MuggleCast. I loved the pictures. I never thought that I would be so happy to see blood on Hermione's hands! When I saw the trailer and the blood was gone I was a little worried but it seems like they will keep it in. I can't wait to buy the magazine and especially see the movie. 98 DAYS!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:27:43

AWESOME. Now we need...............MUGGLECAST!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:30:23

Randy: After.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:31:32

wow, I did not expect them to tell us.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:31:36

@Sean - thanks for that play-by-play. I hope this and Out will be in the airport shops, as that is where I'll be spending most of my weekend.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:36:11

minister looks terrible

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:39:34

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:48:16

Great photos. And, yay! The blood is back on Hermione's hands! Bathilda looks a LOT younger than I pictured.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 16:58:00

really nice photos, i hope these 2 films r gonna be KABOOM in a great way.... Just dying ta see the new fresh trailer....dunno if they're still gonna release comic-con footage!! I wonder if they put the king kross (Chapter 35) in the movie or not.... nyway i wish them all the best.......keep rocking on!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:20:01

@tahmid yes its in the movie why wouldn't it be

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:20:52

theese films are going to be freaking epic!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:23:25

Good job on the split, Can't wait!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:24:42

Perfect..... let's hope it's BEFORE Harry goes into the lake.. which means you-know-WHAT!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:35:24

Theres one more photo of Harry is his Weeding clothing posing with his wand. Its like those character promo shots.

I think it's an ideal place to split it. Yates had to treat it like a complete movie in and of itself. When they get out of the manor, that is an end. But with a great suspensful finish! They had to tell us now. You know it would have leaked out sooner or later. Do you think people aren't going to see it now? By the way, Justin Bieber still looks like a girl.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:41:10

Wow! this is AMAZING!! (for want of a better word!) I was soo shocked when I found out the split, I definately didn't expect it to be there.. at first, I didn't really like the split, but now that I think about it, hey, at least we'll get to see malfoy manor and dobby in november, and it's actually an ok spot for the split, with potential! But the more and more I think about it, like which half will be shorter, they both seem like they have waaaaay too much footage/stuff that happens!! I want to see it all, with no cutting stuff short!! I'm soo excited to see how epiclly it turns out to be!!!! Oh, yes, and I love all those new pics! Very interesting!!! Love the Xeno Lovegood one the best!!! this has definately fed my constant apetite for potter for the moment and it calls for a mugglecast right away, please!!! :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:45:06

Tyler Clark, the hair is suppose to represent to split in her personality. Like the blonde side represents the way she doesn't really like Voldemort, and the dark is the evil side of her. I remember they mention it before.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:47:59

I think where they've split is really good! But does anyone else wish they never told us? I was kind of hoping to go in there with the anticipation of not knowing where part one was going to end! I'm kind of disappointed now :(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:58:37

I'm glad we know where the split will be. Also I think they chose a great spot where to have the split. Those who didn't want to know where the split was should just not have read the article or the comments.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 17:59:06

Is the magazine on newsstands NOW? If so, I'm picking up a copy of EW tonight

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:01:18

I hope Part 1 ends RIGHT AFTER Malfoy Manor. I don't want Part 1 to have Shell Cottage it's just TOO LATE in the story. Maybe the split is when they first arrive at Shell Cottage. When Harry's burying Dobby, maybe then he'll see (from his mind) Voldemort breaking into DD's tomb

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:03:28

I;m glad Voldy steals the wand because I want to see that shot (that was discussed at Comic Con)of the top half of the screen Voldy and the bottom half of the screen is DD

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:11:33

Awesome! I'm glad to know where the split will be.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:12:40

Now the only thing left for it to all to end perfectly is John Williams to return for Part 2!! Anyone else agree?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:14:00

I really don't think Alexandre Desplat has the capability to produce the type of score Part 2 requires.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:21:50

SO MANY SPOILERS!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:23:00

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7957/harrypromo.jpg Thats an other image that was in the magazine. Sorry about the quality, my scanner sucks. :/

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:26:46

I agree with Brian, I hope they leave shell cottage(talking with griphook and ollivander) for part 2, even if it's not the order it was in the book

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:27:48

Awwww man! I was really hoping that WB wasn't going to reveal the split untill the movie was released!! But I total love this part! It will be soooo sad if it ends with Dobby dieing! But I total thought that it was going to end with the trio getting taken to Malfoy Manor!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:37:52

I like the idea of having Voldemort take the wand as Ollivander is explaining the Hallows--I really hope that's how they do it! I am thrilled with the split, so long as they pretty much stick with the book's timeline and have Malfoy Manor and Dobby's burial in Part 1. I've just felt like Malfoy Manor was too intense for the beginning of a movie (but makes a great climax!), and as I said earlier, it's really important to me that they re-introduce us properly to Dobby and make sure he dies before having to leave him again for several months; it just won't have the emotional punch if he dies at the beginning of part 2, IMO. I'm confident it will happen that way, but I have read other comments with people wondering if they will have Voldemort take the wand just as the trio are being led to Malfoy Manor. I tend to think not...hope not! I think it's too important for Harry to see Voldemort take the wand at a time when he COULD go try to beat him to it...but choose not to.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:39:21

@Jason Anderson You have the magazine?! Is it in stores already?!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:40:45

Hopefully this is leading up to a trailer. We'll probably get a Part 1 trailer in the last two weeks of August

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:44:09

I think that the end of Part 1 will be like OotP. You know when Harry's at the MoM and he sees flashes of Voldemort. It might be like that during the escape of Malfoy Manor. When the trio are fighting the Seath Eaters, Harry could see flashes of Voldemort stealing the Elder Wand. Now THAT will be cool. That would be very moving like Heyman said

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:46:42

Do they sell Entertainment Weekly at Wawa? There's a Wawa a minute away from my house. If it's in stores, I'll ride my bike there tomorrow or tonight

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:52:29

I think this is an AMAZING ending for part one. Remember in the trailer, there was this shot of Voldemort on Dumbledore's grave? I really loved that scene when I watched the trailer, especially because Voldemort's shooting out lightning from his wand. I think it will be a really dramatic scene to end by, though I wasn't expecting it to end this late in the film--I thought it would end at Malfoy Manor or something. Anyway, all the better for the audience! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:52:49

On HarryPotterForum, with that pic of Harry on the ground, they said that it's at the Lovegood's because the caption says "Harry under attack by Death Eaters". There's no Death Eaters in Godric's Hollow. Also, it couldn't be the tent because the tent isn't that colorful

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:54:56

@ Sean, i really liked your summary and you have some really good points, especially for people who still think the 2 parts will be weird (time wise). I started freaking out when I read this (my sisters yelled at me to shut up). It's a brilliant place to split. It gives Dobby a really good send off, especially if they show him whispering "Harry Potter" then dying and cut straight to Voldemort stealing the wand while switching between him and Harry talking to Griphook and Ollivander then Voldemort stealing the wand then nothing. After that Part 2 could open up with the trios lives at Shell Cottage and planning the Gringott's break in (which is going to be REALLY cool!) I am SO excited!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:59:17

I'm glad that there's a H/G kiss in Part 1 because I thought WB would cut out the kiss in Part 1 and stick with the one we saw from the MTV montage

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 18:59:24

I'm not really feeling this split. It's just a *bit* to late for my liking. I would have rather they kept Malfoy Manor and Dobby's death in part two, rather than one. But, I won't *totally* denounce this split until I see it. I just don't think it is the ideal spot...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:00:38

To quote Molly Weasley: "I'm all of a dither!" Haha this is going to be awesome!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:03:12

I'm just totally happy with eveything i've just learned =D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:05:55

Well I think Malfoy Manor makes a better climax than a beginning. Maybe Voldemort steals the wand right after the Malfoy Manor escape (no Shell Cottage in Part 1) and then the Part should end

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:06:38

I'm glad WB gave us SOMETHING after that whole fiasco with the Comic Con footage

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:07:55

Many many years ago JK rowling told them to keep the Chanber of Secrets. Interesting that she suspected they would want to depict what happened down there in the movie, even though she didn't really do so in the books, aside from how Ron opened the door. The question "Hallows or Horcruxes?" ran throughout the books, and I was worried that they would choose one or the other as the focus of the movies. Glad to see they are both getting their due. So excited! And, still not looking...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:10:28

OH! I'm SO sorry! I just realized I didn't say spoiler alert for the above comment. I'm sorry anyone who was spoiled :(

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:10:38

Here's a link to the photo with Harry in his wedding robes: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7957/harrypromo.jpg It's the wedding because Harry is wearing the same purple tie in that shot of the trio in Tottanham Court Road that we saw in the first trailer

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:12:11

Maybe these are stills that will be in the Part 1 trailer that we'll (hopefully) get soon

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:14:51

Is the magazine in newsstands yet?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:17:32

According to their website the magazine goes on newsstands August 13 (tomorrow)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:27:57

SPOILER ALERT! I think that they are splitting the movie in a great part!!! But that's just me because I don't want them to split it in a dramatic moment so you have to wait 8 months before you see the rest of it. I do have to say, though, according to Zack, it will be sad to see Dobby die at the end and having Voldemort claiming the wand. I thinks it's an awesome split scene! Those were GREAT and MARVELOUS pictures, sweet scans, and a WONDERFUL article!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! @Gates & Sean: Sean-your summary was awesome and Gates-I totally agree with everything you said about Sean's summary!!! It's a brilliant place to cut it off, gives a wonderful good-bye to Dobby, and then ends with Voldemort gaining power with the Elder Wand. @Brain: Thanks for the pic of Harry in his wedding robes. I'm really glad to see that they are keeping the G\H kiss at the Burrow!!! Gee, I can't wait for that too because they finally get together :) The R\H one will be in part 2 though still, right? I believe it will be but if someone wants to check me on that, that would be great :) IT IS SO COOL WE GOT SCANS, PICTURES, AND AN ARTICLE!!!!!! Can't wait for DEATHLY HALLOWS but will be sad to see the end of Harry Potter....

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:33:33

On YouTube, there's a video from Robot Chicken where Criss Angel is Snape's Substitute. He MIND FREAKS Hogwarts! Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAJql0P8QYY

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:42:15

This was probably confirmed when Desplat's score titles came out.... But dont forget they have changed the scene... The trio will be caught at and taken to malfoy manor and harry sees the visoin of voldemort breaking into dumbledore's tomb.... So we will not have the malfoy manor and shell cottage scenes in part 1... And if they (by a rere chance the the 1st movie would contain almost 70% of the book which is very bad...)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:43:30

This is amaaazing :D :D I cried reading that article it really is all ending. So excited though. The new pics are greeeat and I'm really happy with where they are splitting it. It'll be a really exciting end, having Voldemort standing on top of the tomb and shooting the bolt into the air. It will be EPIC! Really glad they are keeping the Harry/Ginny birthday kiss in. It really does seem like they are keeping to the book sooo much more thatn they were in any other film. SO EXCITED!!! Haven't been this excited for anything since..ever! :L Can't wait to see Ron and Hermione destroy the cup with the Voldy shaped tornado and all. Sounds amazing. We definitely need a MuggleCast right away, this bit of news is absolutely worthy of one! Andreeeeeeew! Oh a thing that I thought was very noticable was that Hermione's hands are back to being bloody! wooop. I wonder which way they'll have them in the actual movie then? ALSO, wtf is up with Narcissa's hair?!!!! Seriously!! Can't waaaait <3333 97 Days!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:47:55

Woops, I meant Tsunami not Tornado, lol. Was just recently reading where Ron grills Cho about her Tornados badge thing ;)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 19:49:27

Wow, this looks absolutely amazing! Everyone was pretty sure the split would be before malfoy manor, but this sounds even better. It is really sad that the franchise is ending, though. It sounds like we'll get to see the Chamber of Secrets scene, the Voldemort Tsunami sound really cool! Looks like Hermione's hands might also be bloody! But doesn't Narcissa's hair look a little brown? Also, I personally think that this news is worthy of a special MuggleCast episode; the hosts could definitely talk about this for 1-2 hours. Can't wait for November!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:00:24

@ Amy- DON'T TALK LIKE THAT! It won't end as long as WE (the devoted fans who have grown up with it) don't LET it die! I know I'll never get enough Harry Potter and there are a lot of people who agree. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:01:23

Sujay: What are you talking about? Harry doesn't have the vision of Voldemort taking the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's tomb until AFTER they escape from Malfoy Manor and after Dobbie's burial. He has the vision after he gets done talking to Ollivander at Shell Cottage. So how will the Malfoy Manor scene and some of the Shell Cottage scene not be in part 1?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:03:20

@ Amy and Arielle- Harry Potter WON'T end as long as WE (the devoted fans) don't LET it end! I know that I will never get enough Harry Potter and there are a lot of people who agree :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:06:15

@Gates, I AGREEEEE!!!!!! Long Live Harry Potter <3

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:10:26

Ron and Hermione soaking wet can only mean that they will show them down in the Chamber of Secrets destroying the Cup. I think that it's awesome that we'll see scenes that we only heard about after the fact (because Harry wasn't there) in the book.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:15:07

@Gates- "Ear ear!!!" Who knows, they might get remade lyk Narnia movies when we have better technology!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:21:30

@ Peacefreak17 CHEERS! That would be AWESOME! Not only would they make money (which, as we all know, businesses LOVE to do) it would inspire a new(er) generation (start the franchise again) and bring back memories for us! I like that idea!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:23:17

i know that is not going to happen but IT WOULD be great if they start the movie with DUMBLEDORE's funeral even if they dont do all the scene like the book but it would be so awesome i mean he is like so important to this film he deserve this and much more... so happy harry potter change my life.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:32:00

now that i think more and more about the split, i think its so cool how they chose that part. it would be so cool, just seeing voldy getting the wand, making a HUGE lightning storm, and then the screen goes black. Then we see TO BE CONTINUED......

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:32:10

@pantera... I said tht they will change the scene.. If u remember from the book, when the trio are caught, harry slowly starts seeing the vision on voldemort killing grindelwald.. Now this vision might be shifted some scenes ahead.. in the book we have a long between the visions.. Harry sees voldy killing gregorovitch and after long when they r caught he sees him killing grindelwald... So in the movie this gap will be shortened.. the murder of grindelwald whould be pushed ahead.. And instead when they r caught by the snatchers, harry would start seeing the vision of voldemort going to hogwarts and getting the Elder wand... So in part 2, it will start with malfoy manor and then the shell cottage... It doesnt matter when they show voldemort taking the wand.. In book it was after he questioned ollivander but in movie it will be ahead... Heyman clearly stated tht they have added a new scene to the climax which is the one with the snatchers actually chasing the trio unlike the book... and then the cliffhanger.... And the soundtracks released for DH 1 clearly suggest tht there will be no malfoy manor in pat 1..

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:32:22

@Amy Keegan: Glad Hermione's hands are back to being bloody too!!! Yeah, what is up with Narcissa's hair? I liked it the way it was in HBP @Gates: AGREED!!!! LONG LIVE HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:32:25

@Gates: And to quote A Very Potter Sequel (my favorite part of the musical): "Until then, I’m going to go back to the Muggle world, and they’re going to tell me that this wasn’t real, that none of this happened, but you know what? It was real. And it did happen. We spent time here and we made friends here and that’s a part of us. Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, it’s bigger than any of its founders, and it’s going to be around long after we’re gone. Maybe we’ll see our kids go here. That’s the thing about Hogwarts. No matter how long you’re away from it, there’s always a way back."

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:34:26

and i forgot to mention that it would be absolutely TERRIBLE if they remade the HP films. Dan will always be my Harry, Emma my Hermione, Rupert my Ron, and of course Evanna my Luna.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:37:37

@Angel silva... It is very much rumoured tht the movie will start with Dumbledore's funeral... I mean not a funeral exactly.... If u remember the way they started HBP with a scene from HP5 in ministry of magic... Just like tht they will add only one scene of the trio standing in front of Dumbledore's grave... The white tomb, the WB logo and the movie starts...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:37:44

Yay, I think this is a great split :D And also, if the Voldemort-shaped tsunami takes part in the Chamber of the Secrets when Ron and Hermione destroy the cup, they'll be wet when they come back up. So does that mean they'll be soaked when they kiss?! That would be very dramatic and epic. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:42:44

@ XxPigfartsHereIComexx I LOVE those musicals! Nice quote, very appropriate :) For November: "I'ts gonna be TOTALLY AWESOME!" and @ Luna Lestrange there will NEVER be anything as good as the originals. Some generation in the distant future might like remade HP films (I'm thinking of how they made Batman again) but to us (the original fans who grew up with Harry) the originals will rule FOREVER! (of course HP TRUMPS Batman. It was the first example that came to mind)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:47:41

I 'borrowed' the magazine from my dentis office :p Thats how I got the Harry promo. :P

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:51:43

I love the split!! I knew they couldn't start Part 2 at Malfoy Manor. It's one of the climaxes of the book, and it would have gotten overshadowed by the harry/volde battle. Well done!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 20:51:58

This is so exciting! I’m so pumped for this movie. At first, I was a bit hesitant when I learned the split would be after Malfoy Manor, as I’ve always assumed it would end at the snatchers scene. But after I thought it through, it made sense. It would make a really effective ending along with Dobby’s death and Voldemort obtaining the Elder wand.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:05:43

DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING! I'm reading these comments and people are talking as if the soundtrack titles are confirmed and as though if there's a rumour about something happening in the movie, it's going to happen in the movie. It's not confirmed that Part 2 will start with a funeral, and there's no basis for that theory. A very imaginative Potter fan probably just made that up and now people have taken it to heart and assumed that it's very likely to happen. Just like yesterday, when someone made up that BS trailer description; there are people out there just making stuff up, don't believe anything WB doesn't officially announce.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:09:28

I agree with Haider... Sujay.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:09:59

@Haider- People are only discussing what they think will happen based on where the split is (which is, so far, DEFINITE) in each part because there are quite a few different ways they can end/begin.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:11:04

(But I don't think Dumbledore's funeral is actually going to be shown. There's a lot more that should have the screen time instead)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:28:17

The ONLY part that I am worried about is towards the end of the book, when Molly Weasly Yells at Bella "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH" then battles and kills her. If that part is cut out or changed in a bad way I will walk right out of the theater.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:29:14

Alright, guys. First of all, this is an AWESOME split point. Bravo! Second, have any of you guys watched the trailer since you found out the split point? -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EC2tmFVNNE Skip forward in the trailer to time 1:29. Around this time, Voldemort is standing on top of Dumbledore's coffin, is holding Dumbledore's wand, and is shooting a green lightning bolt into the sky. :) Now THAT, my friends, is EPIC. If that really is how they're going to end it... wow! Just wow! This is SOOO exciting!! Tell me if you agree with my 1:29 theory!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:29:47

I wanted the split to be when Ron leaves Harry and Hermione. :/ Oh well.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:35:45

*CHILLS* I can just see the fantastic cinematic shot of Voldemort obtaining the wand...kinda smiling in the scary snake-like way and CUT...cue the end music...AH! So perfect!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:40:03

@ Hannah thats waaaay to early for the split ...they chose the perfect spott

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:44:05

@Robert Francis, it's funny that you mention that about the kiss scenes. I was thinking the same thing. They always show Harry kissing someone from a sideways angle. It would be interesting to see a new angle. lol.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:49:01

so glad that her bloody hands are in this picture :)don't know what the whole thing is w/ Ron and Hermione being soaking wet. guess I'll have to see it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:55:38

So the second movie will take place over the course of less than two days?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 21:59:57

@Veronica S. haha I didn't even think about that. I guess yeah :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 22:16:22

Well i am glad they added a link because i dont want to know where the split is. I accidentally went to the leaky cauldron :P and they ruined that for me. SHAME!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 22:24:07

Ugh...a Voldemort shaped tidal wave? I can't even think of what horcrux they destroyed, but having a Voldemort shaped wave come after them seems awfully hokey. The rest of it sounds great though, looking forward to it!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 22:25:28

Ugh...a Voldemort shaped tsunami? I don't even remember what horcrux Ron & Hermione destroyed together, but regardless, a Voldemort shaped tidal wave sounds extremely hokey. The rest of it is looking great though!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 22:45:34

Just because Voldemort gets the Elder Wand after the Shell Cottage scene in the book doesn't mean that it'll occur in the same place in the movie. Professor Trelawney's sacking scene was after Mr. Weasley's Nagini attack in the book, but in the movie it was during the High Inquisitor scene.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 23:11:21

Listening to the chapter on audiobook earlier, I imagine that the final scene of the trio will be after they've questioned Ollivander and Griphook and are back out in the garden at Shell Cottage. When Ron asks why they questioned Griphook first, insisting they try for the Elder Wand at Hogwarts still, Harry will give us a dramatic "It's too late" while touching his scar. Then the film itself will end with Voldemort breaking Dumbledore's tomb, removing the Elder Wand and the flash of lightning before going to black. At least, that's how I'd do it anyway. Quite dramatic and foreboding.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 23:28:29

I have to admit, I never even considered this as a splitting point, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. What a dramatic ending! And this way, Part 1 gets its climax at Malfoy Manor, and Part 2's own climax (the battle, of course) won't overshadow it. On the other hand, there is a TON of stuff in Part 1, which worries me somewhat. Of course I want Gringotts and the Battle of Hogwarts to have their due...but I also want the mission at the Ministry, the Silver Doe, the scene at the Lovegood's, and Malfoy Manor to be properly recognized--not to mention Bill and Fleur's wedding, Harry and Ron's fight, and Godric's Hollow! There are months to cover in Part 1, and only a couple days in Part 2. I hope this place was the right decision. It could be great, but it could just as easily feel very rushed.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 23:42:30

When I first found out about Ron and Hermione down in the Chamber of Secrets I was totally jazzed because, well, Ron and Hermione need some alone time, hehe. Then finding out about the Voldie-tsunami, I thought that was hokey. But, horcruxes like to torment people before the part of the soul inside dies...since Ron was tormented with Hermione choosing Harry instead of him, they had to come up with something exciting. Hermione picking up a basilik fang and bang, the horcrux is dead...that would be terribly anti-climatic. What is the pendant Hermione is wearing on the "Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore" picture? At first I thought it was the time-turner.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-12 23:59:23

Looked closer...is she wearing the locket horcrux?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 00:35:40

@Veronica S. I think they were at Shell Cottage for more than a week. So that plus Gringotts and Hogwarts Battle is the second movie. @Plum_cake I was wondering about that. Voldemort could get the elder wand when the trio is getting snatched.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 00:50:03

Narcissa's hair hasn't changed other than in HBP she has it pulled back to fit inside her hood and keep it out of the rain. In this film, she has it let down and straightened it. She had no reason to straighten it in HBP, because the rain would've ruined it anyway.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 01:03:46

I'm happy where the split will be...but man! Now that means it'll be soon after Dobby's death and the lights will come on while I'm still crying about it and I'm gonna be made fun of hardcore. Haha!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 01:21:04

What a perfect split point! There still could be more in part 2, because when looking back at other HP movies, the events havent always been in the same order as the books. Does anyone else think that the 'voldemort tsunami' sounds similar to Imhoteps wave in The Mummy Returns?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 01:31:43

TO EVERYONE: Stop worrying about the following facts: Part 1 being rushed, Part 2 not having enough material, Part 2 being only about "2 days" or so long compared to the "months" of Part 1. WHY DO I SAY THIS? They filmed this as if it were ONE MOVIE and NOT two. If they decided on a split point they feel appropriate, then obviously there is AT LEAST an hour and a half of material for Part 2 and it doesn't matter what "time frame" in the book it covers...we are continuing from where the previous part left off, it doesn't need to be "greater than or equal to" the previous timespan.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 01:55:40

I seriously broke down crying reading those. I just don't want this series to end. I think just like 3/4 of you, that the split should be right before they go to malfoy manor or right after they get there. Didn't helena boham carter say that she wasn't in part 1? This makes me nervous but I am still very excited to see this! 98 days! This will be epic. I gotta a feeling I will just be bawling the whole time. I don't want it to end! WAHHHH!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 02:45:24

Oh my god! :O That was exactly where I had hoped it would be!!!! Although I also hoped they would show Lupin bringing in the news about the baby and THEN we see Voldemort get the wand, so there's some constrast between something light and dark. But hey, it doesn't matter because they did it! I got my wish fulfilled :D:D This made my day! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 04:53:02

People, just remember that Voldemort getting the Elder wand in the film doesn't necessarily have to be at the same point it was in the book. The order of events has been changed many times in different films. Who knows, maybe Voldemort gets the Elder wand before Malfoy here... But I hope that it's shown exactly as it was in the book: Harry sees Voldemort breaking into Dumbledore's tomb, while he's at Shell cottage.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 04:57:34

our prayers have been answered we can now see mafoy manor and shell cottage

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 05:07:30

@matt finally somebody said it

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 05:08:10

^^ *before Malfoy Manor here

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 06:10:30

Am I the only one that think part 1 is gonna be better than part 2. Except for Snapes memories and the final battle all my favorite scenes are in part 1.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 06:31:23

lets not forget Dan-Rad said in that OTHER mag sometihng aobut people not wanting to watch a "SIX-HOUR FILM" could he have been hinting at the length of these films?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 06:33:15

lets not forget Dan-Rad said in that other interview something bout people now anting to sit through a "SIX-HOUR FILM" possibly hinting at these films length?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 06:37:47

sorry obut double post mugglenet wasnt showing my post at first (anyone else having this problem cuz its been doing this to me for a while now)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 06:42:11

i'm not sure if i actually anted to no it. the worst part of the movies to me is the sence that the end is near. but that no one really knew were the end was going to be, now i no. but i like were the split will be. i was worried that it wasn't going to be that much excitement in part one but there is going to be A LOT!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 07:03:11

@ Christina- I'm pretty sure she is wearing the (real) locket (horcrux) because the part where they read The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore was right after Godric's Hollow and before Ron comes back and destroys it. and @ Fuckyou- the same thing has been happening to me, don't worry. If your post doesn't immediately appear wait a few minutes (probably about 5) then press refresh and it shows up

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 07:04:32

This is great news! I was hoping it would split there! W00T! :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 07:05:50

Also, I forward the notion, we NEED a mugglecast about this!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 07:09:07

AGREED! Someone start a petition to have an emergency Mugglecast about this! This is as big (if not bigger)as the trailer from June!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 07:13:59

cool! I always thought that they would have split the movie at this point!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 07:21:44

yeah i hope they do a mugglecast about this

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 07:59:18

Excellent, this really is a good point to split. I am SOOOO EXCITED!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 08:05:28

..and reading the bit of the report when they spoke about the final scene the trio filmed made me so, so sad.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 08:34:09

Perhaps when it says that Part I ends at Chapter 24, they really mean that it ends with what HAPPENS in Chapter 24, you know? Maybe they had Voldemort get the Elder Wand during the snatcher scene, so it is still extremely dramatic. I'm not sure though, I'm just thinking about it. Either way, both splitting points sound okay.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 08:51:16

Meh.... I know we can't put anything completely past the filmmakers, but I still maintain that they can't have Voldemort get the wand while Harry is being held captive. It's got to be at a moment where Harry has the choice to go try to beat him to it but chooses Horcruxes instead. I also maintain that Malfoy Manor is too intense to start a film, and Dobby's death packs a much more emotional punch at the end of a film rather than the beginning. I am still thrilled with this choice, as long as they also get the trio to Shell Cottage by the end! :D I love the idea of perhaps Ollivander talking about the Hallows as we also switch to Voldemort going to get the Elder Wand, and then Ron trying to convince Harry to go get the Elder Wand at Hogwarts and the last line of the movie being Harry saying, "It's too late for that" as Voldemort finally claims the wand as the last scene....

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 09:27:37

@Gina I agree with you. I would actually love it if the last scene before we see Voldemort getting the Elder Wand is Harry burying him and Hermione crying with Ron comforting her. Everyone in the theater will be in tears, and then we cut to to Voldy getting the Elder Wand from the tomb, and then the credits roll. Everyone would be leaving the theater in tears, yet still excited about Voldemort getting the wand. It's a perfect ending!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 09:30:44

When I say "him" I mean Dobby, of course.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 09:32:41

I think it is a good point, its dramatic, emotional, it has a climax, a cliffhanger, a conclusion. And I think Malfoy Manor is a too big scene to start a movie with. I always thought it would be like this. I hope they add the Dumbledore Funeral in flashbacks during Dobbies funeral, like I said earlier. Oh, and @Kristin how can Helena Bonham Carter not be in part one, she is in the very first scene with Voldemort at Malfoy Manor... Maybe she was just confused. Only 96 days till part I (here in the Netherlands the release dates are one day earlier):P So excited, I'm going to see it the day it comes out:D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 09:35:00

i not going to look ant it to be a suprise.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 09:49:16

@ Gina and Zach- you're right that would be a really good ending. Dramatic and saddening and making you want more all at the same time! They're definitely going to have Dobby's death/burial at the end of part 1. Someone said they wanted to give a character a really good send off, so it makes sense.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 09:49:20

Sujay Kapre... i was thinking about that for a while that maybe they do the funeral just like HBP and then the wb logo. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG WILL BE THE MOVIE, I HOPE IT TAKES AT LEAST 2 HOURS AND 30 MIN BECAUSE I WANT TO SAY GOOD BYE SLOWLY LOL.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 10:50:04

ahhh these pictures look so so good.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 10:51:36

Sounds like an excellent spot to end it. SUper dramatic. Although I'm a little sad i read it because it woulda been way more epic if i was just in the theatre and it ended

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 10:52:45

yeaa...thot dats where it wud b..around dobby's death...PERRRFECTTT WAYYY TO END WEN HE OPENS DA TOMB N GETS DA WANDDD WATT A SCENEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!HOPE ITS FILMED WELLLLL CANNTT WAIIIITTTTTTT

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 11:16:15

Hey, just in case anyone doesn't want to buy the magazine, I got the link right here: http://www.ew.com/ew/inside/0,,,00.html Hope this helps somewhat, even though we got the scans

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 11:17:21

Oops, sorry, the website I posted above doesn't have the Harry Potter article but I guess it has lots of other stuff in it...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 11:20:54

Remember the scene from the trailer with Voldy casting a spell with the elder wand standing on the tomb. I think that will be the last seconds before we go to the credits.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 11:51:23

This is where I imagined the split being after re-reading the book. In the book, doesn't Voldy get the elder wand after or as Harry is talking to Olivander? I still think that Harry will talk to Griphook and Olivander in Part II to give the audience a reminder of the Hallows and the Horcrux in the Lestrange vault. This leads me to believe that Voldy will get the wand earlier than he did in the book.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 11:53:35

I also didn't realize before that Ron and Hermione are wet in the Fiendfyre scene from the trailer.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 11:58:49

@Michelle McKelley Haha, I am quite aware that they don't do thinks in order. But thank you anyway! :) I was just saying that perhaps a more happy, emotional scene would have been a more poetic way to have ended the filming process. So that in all their interviews they can go "yeah we ended with this really emotional happy and sad scene with everyone there...blah blah blah" instead of "yeah we were just kinda filming this one random bit in a closet."

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 12:21:56

:\ What horcrux did Ron and Hermione destroy again? I'm kinda bummed it's a Voldemort shaped tidal wave...I mean it seems awful hokey doesn't it? Either way, the pics are lookin terrific, can't wait to see the finished product!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 12:30:40

AHAHHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Epic OMG!!! THAT LOOKS SOOOO AWESOME!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those pics r so awesome!!!!! Go Dan, Rupert, and Emma!!! I cannot wait till Nov!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 12:33:15

@Steve: I was kinda bummed, also, that it's a Voldemort shaped tidal wave too because it's like they need to explain what happened or something and if they just followed the book, they wouldn't have to try to explain anything because it's all in the book! But, I guess the book kind of has a "narrarator" in a way so they would have to have a couple of extra scenes in order to explain things, scenes where it shows something happening to the characters or where they are talking (like the scene they put in where Harry\Hermione are dancing, sharing information). But, still, what's up with the Voldemorte shaped tidal wave. But, anyway, can't wait to see the film, photographs look marvelous, but it will be sad to see the end of Harry Potter

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 13:15:29

I'm happy about where the split is :) I think its a good place to end the first film. This just made me more excited!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 13:21:53

So I'm thinkin the picture on page 2 is at the Lovegood's house???

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 13:32:06

Ohh I can t wait to see the film! I especially exited to see Luna bedroom!! I really like the Lovegood s house! @Joe Coomes, I believe so!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 13:37:09

Ugh. I want to see DH very badly! Yet, I am going to positively DIE if I have to wait almost a year to see the conclusion! I am looking forward to seeing the Lovegood house as well! I heart Luna!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 13:47:01

After reading the books and then finding out they were going to split it into two movies, I thought Dobby's Death would be a very good point to end the first one. For me, it was so moving. I am very happy to see it come true and I am almost too excited for the movie...I am too excited.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 13:59:23

@ Hermione Granger: A new scene with Harry and Hermione dancing? Sounds exciting :) Where did you learn about it?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 13:59:45

ok super confused! any1 wanna help!? how could it split at the snatcher part if the snatchers brign them to malfoy manor? how oculd it include malfoy manor??/? and how could it split when the room of requirement is on fire!? thts like mid way through the battle? tht leaves like nothing for part 2!? wheres the split!? any1???

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:05:35

@Lauren: I believe David Heyman said it in an interview. Harry and Hermione dancing was also briefly shown in one of the very first clips we got, the one that was on the HBP dvd.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:07:45

Great spot for a split in my opinion.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:09:11

@Samantha: Not sure what you mean. In the magazine, *SPOILER* it was revealed that the split would be at Chapter 24, when Voldemort gets the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's tomb. If they had the scenes in the order that they were in the book, then Malfoy Manor would also be included because it is Chapter 23. However, some members were discussing that the could have Voldemort take the wand at any other point, and therefore are speculating as to what will/won't be included. But I do know that they are not splitting it at the Room of Requirement, because we haven't heard any sort of confirmation about that and it would be far too late in the book.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:13:01

I think that the Malfoy Manor scene HAS to be in part 1 because it is the climax of the first half of the book. I just started re-reading Deathly Hallows and that scene is definitely the most intense scene up to that point in my opinion. You must also remember that in the Deathly Hallows Teaser Trailer that was released with the Half Blood Prince DVD, the last words spoken come from Ollivander who says, "If it's true, you really don't stand a chance". The last words spoken in the MTV Teaser Trailer are once again from Ollivander who says, "You really don't stand a chance". So that is obviously a very important line if they used it as the ending of two separate teaser trailers. In my opinion, they may have moved Harry's vision of Voldemort "up" slightly, so that he has the vision as he's talking with Ollivander instead of after he's talked with Ollivander. Then he says that Voldemort has the Elder Wand and Ollivander says, "If it's true, you really don't stand a chance." I mean, that would be the ultimate "punch in the nuts", and a great way to end part 1. I just really doubt that the Malfoy Manor scene will not be in part 1.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:21:05

OMG!!!!!!!! When this debate first started, that's EXACTLY where I wanted them to split it!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!! It happens during the chaos of Malfoy Manor, so that means the split will occur sometime before Shell Cottage!!!! GREAT CHOICE WB!!!!!!!! I'm kind of disappointed that I know where it happens now, because I wanted to be surprised. Now I will be expecting it, but I'm still SO EXCITED to see this effin' movie!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:23:33

I Love the pics!Awesome!Can't wait!Sooo exited!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:24:22

omg, you guys have the greatest ideas!! I`ve been wanting this spot to be the split point for months and i know its perfect but i can`t help but think how awesome it would`ve been when the snatchers showed up and ron does the deluminator with the screen going dark and then the snatchers saying their outnumbered and whatnot in the dark for the ending!!! would`ve been creepily awesome..... :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:28:42

This issue looks even BETTER when you have a copy of it!! I'm so happy that I have a subscription to EW!!! SO HAPPY!!!! :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:31:44

Malfoy Manor is definitely in part one. Harry's scar starts hurting right when they get captured, so he keeps going in and out of focus when they're being taken to Malfoy Manor. Harry sees Voldemort kill Grindlewald and then he goes to Hogwarts. I think when he finally gets to Hogwarts and gets the wand from Dumbledore's grave, Harry is about to walk in the room at Shell Cottage to question Griphook. So he chooses horcruxes over Hallows.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:32:21

LOVE HARRY AND GINNY TOGETHER. Best couple. But Hermione's hand looks GROSS. All of the pics are AWESOME. Can't wait to see the movie.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 14:36:06

@Sassy: Ron's blood is all over her hand. I'm just happy they didn't take the blood out permanently. That scene is so scary in the book and looks like it will be the same in the movie. :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 15:35:48

@ XxPigfartsHereIComexx: Thanks, I'm looking for it now:)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 15:54:56

I DONT WANT TO KNOW THE SPLIT!!! trying to find the pics though if there are good ones

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 16:13:21

i won't presume to speak for anyone on this board but I think it is safe to say that no one was disappointed WB decided to split the films into 2 parts! that is the most most ridiculous thing i have ever read

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 16:13:27

Super great article. Harry Potter cast, and Harry Potter in general, is absolutely brilliant. :) I didn't want to know the split when I saw this whole thing last night but then today I read the whole article and couldn't resist looking. And I didn't feel too bad seeing since it was published in a very popular magazine. I cannot wait for this movie! AHHH!! 97 days!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 16:19:33

I'm excited to see the Voldemort tsunami that attacks Ron and Hermione in the Chamber of Secrets! It sounds like what they did with The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, at the end when the river turns into a giant tsunami man. It'll still look awesome!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:22:04

I don't know about anybody else, but i am quite excited at the idea of the Voldemort tsunami attacking Ron and Hermione.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:22:28

OMG THIS IS PERFECT!!!!! I love where the split is!!!! I'm literally spazzing out right now!!!!! AAAHHH!!! I love that Malfoy Manor will be in Part 1, FREAKING PSYCHED that Part 2 will mainly be Gringotts and the Battle of Hogwarts!!!! Gonna be earth-shatteringly EPIC!!!!!!!!! GOD I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE PART 1!!!!!!!! Part 2 also of course haha. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!! 98 DAYS!!!!!! XD @Zack I know! Me too!! I love that they added that in! A Voldemort shaped tsunami.... OMG it's gonna be SICK!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:25:19

I meant 97 days oops haha

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:27:59

I rode my bike to 711 today and couldn't find it. Then, I got my copy of EW at Borders.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:30:51

I agree with Zach, from a while back. John Williams has GOT to do Part 2.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:33:28

Oh my God, I hope John Williams comes back. He wants to come back, David Heyman wants him to come back ... his music would definitely make me 10x more emotional about the series ending. Some of his music from the first 3 makes me emotional already.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:34:18

I can definately see Voldemort holding the wand and thinking that he is now unstoppable at the end of part one.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:34:23

I think the split is a little late. I thought it was going to be at the Snatcher chase. Now it's 2 chapters further. I think Voldy will steal the wand during the Malfoy Manor fight sequence and Harry sees it happening in his mind.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 17:39:16

@Bdrge I know that she would be in part 1 if that is how it ends. unless they do change the order. that just what she has said. Some people did comment on that in these comments.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 18:04:28

@Brian: The split isn't that late. It occurs right after Malfoy Manor, but before they start all the Gringotts planning. So, it's a good spot. And since they've decided to show Ron/Hermione destroy the Hufflepuff goblet then part two will be quite long.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 18:32:29

@Iwanttoorlando05 My point is is that Part 1 is going to be about 2/3 of the book if they put Shell Cottage in the first part

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 18:55:04

I agree with you Brian. If you compare the content, far more happenings are going to be crammed into the first part, meanwhile the second part will have so much time left to explain things that I'm expecting quite a few movie only added scenes (such as the scene with Ron and Hermione). The first part of the movie, on the other hand, will probably have many altered or completely cut scenes in order to fit everything into the time frame nicely. I thought the whole point of having two films was so that they wouldn't have to cram or get rid of parts and scenes. But with having the split just a bit too late (I think right at the end of the Snatcher scene would have been perfect) I have this anxious fear that that will happen. With Part 1 having too many cut and/or altered scenes and Part 2 having too many added and/or lengthened scenes. And while I do know that Deathly Hallows was filmed as one movie, that still doesn't mean that they can't edit out scenes and/or alter them. They can and they probably will. Because they have a whole heck of a lot going on in the first half. The second half has a lot going on too, and the scenes are vital, but the ratio between the movies and the events that take place in them still doesn't seem even to me. : /

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 19:03:29

Jessica Canavan@ Meybe they wanted more time for Snapes memories(I hope).

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 19:06:20

@Randy: I'm hoping that they do his memories correctly, but I still don't think the contents are equal. It might just be me getting a bit over anxious, but I just really don't want them to screw up these last two movies! XD

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 19:13:04

@Jessica I couldn't have said it any better myself. Everything in Part I will be rushed if they end it with Dobby dying. Although I like having a giant climax and a touching ending to Part I, I care more about getting the films right. But who knows, they could do it perfectly. For right now, I'm going to sit back, drink some Butterbeer that I just made, and hope for the best!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 19:25:04

@Zack: That's what I'm going to try and do too. Since the scenes that we have seen, the casting of the new characters, and everything else seems really well done. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 19:36:52

WB already changed at least one thing... "The three of them are shooting a scene in the Room of Requirement in which Harry, Ron, and Hermione are searching for a horcrux -- in this case, the tiara-like Ravenclaw diadem. Watson and Grint are both sopping wet. (Ron and Hermione have recently destroyed another horcrux in water and were pursued by a Voldemort-shaped tsunami.)" A "Voldemort-shaped tsunami"? Really? That sounds ridiculous, and not in a good way.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 19:54:36

I actually think the tsnuami is a good idea if done correctly. After all, the cup must have had some way to protect itself, like a curse. The locket had the images that tortured Ron and the ring eventually caused death. Plus, doesn't Jo have to approve the screenplay? If it's fine with her it should be fine with us.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 20:15:10

@ Jeff Gabriel .... 100% agree! im so excited also! the split is in the perfect spot! part 1 vs part 2? what one? cant decide now!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 20:19:06

Love it! I think they chose the perfect place to split it! I'm even more excited for the movie now, if that's possible. What a great article! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 20:36:31

I don't know what part I'm excited for most now. Both Part one and two have great events, and the thought that part one is just 97 days away makes me very anxious. At first I didn't like where the split was, but now it's grown on me. I actually think it's perfect where it is now. :) I can't wait!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 20:41:34

@Sean emery I know right?! It's impossible to decide!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 20:44:15

Guys read this! It's so nice! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/honey-seltzer/daniel-radcliffe-aka-harr_b_680848.html

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 20:49:59

@Zack: Oh yeah I saw that? It's so cute how Dan remembered her. But that girl was really lucky! What I would give to go to the Harry Potter set once, let alone twice...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 20:51:01

Jessica Canavan: I understand what you're saying, but everything post-Malfoy Manor is very important, whereas some pre-Malfoy Manor "stuff" isn't really needed to tell the story. For example, in part 1 they don't need to show every single scene that occurred while the trio were at The Burrow or whenever they were on the run. If they (those who worked on the film) thought that part 1 would be too rushed by ending the film with Voldemort obtaining the Elder Wand, then they probably wouldn't have chose that as the split point. Also, part 1 could be longer than the previous films have been. It seems like knowing where the split will occur only raises more questions.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 21:04:20

*SPOILER ALERT* I think the split is awesome, from a dramatic perspective. If the first movie does indeed end after Chapter 24 like it says here, then it will be at a dramatic climax, right after Dobby's death, when the Trio are uncertain if they can actually win. Also, as for the R/H scene, in the books, JKR somewhat leaves it up to interpretation as to what happened in the Chamber. All Ron says is that Hermione stabbed the cup. The diary, the ring, and the locket each "put up a fight" as they were destroyed, so the Voldemort tsunami thing doesn't seem too farfetched in that sense. All I can say is that I'm excited to see it. A sopping-wet RHr kiss might just make my little fangirl heart explode with happiness!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 21:12:36

I think this split point is perfect! Its not too much in the first part at all. Its the right amount of stuff in the first part. People have to remember that they said the Battle was gonna be a good hour or more long, you also have in part 2...the planning of Gringots Break in, Breaking into Gringots, Dragon Escape Scene, Viewing Voldemorts head discovering harry knows about the horcruxes, trio in hogsmeade, scene with aberforth, getting into Hogwarts, Sacking of Snape Chapter, Battle begins, Hermione and ron in Chamber of secrets, Snape/Voldemort Scene, Prince's Tale Scene, Forest Again Scene, Dumbledore/Harry Scene, Harry Coming Back Alive and his body being shown to the good guys, More Battling, Harry and Voldemort Showdown, Celebrating Victory, and then the Epilogue! That is plenty in Part 2 thank you very much!!! I can't wait for these films!!! I WANT IT TO BE NOVEMBER 2010 AND THEN APPARATE TO JULY 2011 LOL!!! :-)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-13 21:47:09

@Pantera2012: I know that. I'm not expecting them to keep *every single scene.* that is simply impossible when it comes to an adaptation. I'm just a bit hesitant to them having so much of the story in the first half, since there *are* quite a few vital scenes in the first half, and I would like them to be done properly. Not rushed or horribly altered, slightly altered is fine and is sometimes unavoidable. I'm just saying that they are cramming a lot into the first half, and they *are* adding scenes to it as well (such as the Harry and Hermione dancing scene, which I like, but...). I want these last two films to be done properly, and having more than half of the books in one half and far less in the second just doesn't work for me. And while, yes, in terms of quantity vs. quality the more vital pieces of information happen in part two, while more just happens in part one, I still think that they are going to have a plethora of time to add in a bunch of scenes when it comes to part two and that they are going to have to do a lot of cutting to part one. Some interesting and needed scenes are going to be added to part two (such as the Ron and Hermione scene, which, when it comes to the tsunami I am reserving judgement until I see the special effects in action), but I am already sure there will be a few added scenes that will be less so. And I don't want to come off sounding like a purist or anything, I'm okay with most of the changes they do to the films (I actually liked the Burrow scene in HBP). I just think this split is a smidgen too late into the overall story.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 01:00:39

As unbalanced in lengths as the two halves would have been, I really hoped that they would be split after the destruction of the locket. The story is quite dismal up until that point, as the trio has just been split by Ron's abrupt departure and Harry and Hermione have been hiding out in a forest. The destruction of the horcrux itself is emotional for Ron, exceedingly epic, and quite timely. And of course after such a great scene, Rupert (Grint) would deliver some silly little line that would announce his return and thus make fans anxious to visit Part II in which Ron would play very much a part.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 02:54:47

@Little Lily there was no way they would break at this point, because the main story between everything is the deathly hallows thing, they would need to complete it in part one

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 05:15:38

The split should have been when Ron storms off. If you open the book to Chapter 24 - presumably everyone has actually READ the book - that means movie one will consist of two thirds of the book. I guess the second movie will only be 70 mins long. Unless they fill it up with back story or more made up nonsense like in HBP. Curious to see how they're going to make up for the Burrow being burned down unnecessarily. And somehow they have put the piece of mirror from Sirius into Harry's hands. They've got a lot to make up for in order to tie it all together properly.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 05:56:12

I agree with Ginny. The should have split somewhere in the middle.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 06:39:13

Where o where is the mugglecast? Please?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 07:02:30

Great news. Been waiting to find out where the split is for ages, and it is indeed a great split. It makes sense to put all of the malfoy manor part in the first part because all of the harry potter books and films have had there exciting endings philosophers stone Harry ron and hermione going under the trap door to find the stone and harry facing quirrel, Chamber of secrets harry and ron going into the chamber to save ginny and the same good endings with all the books and films, the good ending of part 1 will be malfoys manor.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 07:28:16

- SPOILERS - @Ginny: Ron leaving the trio would have been a tragic end. Would people who only watches the movies want to come back after an end like that? A crying Hermione, a frustrated Harry and a pissed off Ron leaving them? Instead they have created excitement. What will happen now that Voldemort has the Elder Wand? He seems pretty unbeatable. You also say that the movie can't be more than 70 min long without filling in with backstory, but all that backstory is necessary! There's loads of the plot left. - Shell Cottage - Plotting and breaking into Gringotts - Destroying the cup/horcrux - Almost being caught in Hogsmeade - Chat with Aberfort about DD's past. - Hearing from Neville what's been happening at Hogwarts. - Looking for the Diadem, RoR on fire - Preparing for Battle. - Shrieking Shack, and Snape's story. - Final Battle - Harry in the forest - Kings cross with DD - Back to the fight - Wrap it all up nicely EPILOUGE Easily a 2hr 30min movie :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 09:32:07

I'm happy with where the split is, but I don't want the last thing I see on screen to be Dumbledore's dead body! That would be so sad (and gross!). I trust the director and producers to make two fantastic movies, so they better not mess them up.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 09:42:46

very good split, it'll be so intense... i can not wait!!!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 09:55:30

i bet there are some people that dont even remember where sirius gives harry the mirror in the books. as for the burrow being burned to the ground: the weasleys are a family of WIZARDS.. mr. weasley can just wave his wand and they house will be put right again. plus, this is like 6 months after that happened so with magic, it wouldnt take that long to rebuild a house.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 09:59:17

I know that alot of people on here are worried about how Part II will be really short, but that could never be the case. They have so much in Part II and they said that the Battle of Hogwarts could take up to at least 40 mins of the movie. So don't worry, they should be even.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 10:12:20

Wow, I'm going to be hanging on the edge of my seat when the first movie ends- and then the suspense is going to drive me crazy!!! why do they have to show the movies like eight months apart?! I already am having a hard time waiting for the first part to com out. Those were some great new stills- makin me even more excited!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 11:09:46

I had a gut feeling they were going to end it right after Malfoy Manor; it makes more sense, since, as I said in a previous blog, it provides somewhat of a resolution to a huge conflict. The main conflict of Part 1 is that the trio are trying to avoid getting captured. Once they're in the grips of the Malfoys, they've been caught (that's the main climax of Part 1). When they escape and make it to the safe haven of Shell Cottage, there is a sense of resolution. Yes, there are many loose ends left to tie, but that is for Part 2 to achieve. Part 2 will focus more on the fight for Hogwarts and the war against Voldemort, while Part 1 serves as a "fugitive" story where the trio are on the run, making sure not to get caught. Great place to end the film. Malfoy Manor needed to be in Part 1, in my opinion. Then they'll begin Part 2 in Shell Cottage, and that will be a very effective location to begin Harry's journey in defeating Voldemort.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 12:10:08

more in part one means more fighting secens in part two and that means us being very happy

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 13:11:28

its not really a question of where they'll split it, its more of how they'll split it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 13:12:49

i wish they chose a better splitting. it was good and all but...........

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 13:43:41

i tried finding this magazine in different stores.. couldnt find it! it was aug. 13 the day it came out.. but i checked today and did not find... :/

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 14:46:19

i like the split, i thought it was going to split when the snatchers caught harry, ron, and hermione but i was close enough only one chapter of but i still like this split, cant wait for the movie

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 15:07:23

Alexander Rodriguez: Exactly!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 18:24:14

pretty good split, I don't know what would have been better

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 18:35:17

I'm glad that the split is here. I was hoping for it to be around this point in the book, so no disappointments here!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 18:52:49

When I found out what the split was I was really bummed out, i thought that part 1 would be to long but then I listed to Mugglecast #205 and then thought that the split was great. I only hope that it's real, not like the fake Japanise trailer, but great split.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 19:32:06

@Toni I rode my bike to 711 and it wasn't there. Then, I got it at Borders. So check there. There was a lot of copies of EW there.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 19:38:36

I just got my copy from Borders--it's even better to see the pictures in person. What I love about the Xenophilius picture is that there is a sign that says "Keep off the Dirigible Plums." :D I'm sure this is one of the many HP magazines I will be buying these next few months.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 19:56:16

Guys read this interview http://www.snitchseeker.com/harry-potter-news/dan-radcliffe-talks-deathly-hallows-working-david-yates-bfi-movie-con-iii-75702/ It's Dan talking about the end of filming and whatnot. What I found the most interesting was this quote: "The second part starts as a heist movie and then turns into a war." I'm thinking this further confirms this split point and the fact that the 2nd movie will start with them at Shell Cottage planning the break in to Gringotts. Thoughts?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 20:01:23

Guys! In the interview I mentioned above, they said that a clip was shown to the audience at Movie-Con III. Here's the description: *******Then we saw an action-packed bit of footage, with a few fresh snippets that weren’t in the trailer: six of Harry’s friends turning into Polyjuice Potion doppelgangers to get him safely out of the Dursley’s home; the attack on Fleur and Bill’s wedding reception; Harry and Ron fighting in the tent when they’re on the run and Voldemort heading up a council of Death Eaters at Malfoy Manor. And then lots and lots of intense action, including an extended look at the run through the woods with Death Eaters in close pursuit. ******* Here's hoping that we get to see this clip this time.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 20:17:26

Interview and information can also be found at: http://www.empireonline.com/movie-con/, so I'm assuming its legit this time, not like the fake Japanese trailer.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 20:23:55

i am sure this is mentioned in other posts but the article doesn't mention where the split is! is gives a very generic part 2 is an operatic war movie... yeah we know. so i don't see wha tall the fuss is about the article "confirming" the split point... we will all know in 96 days

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-14 21:18:17

@Jason Baker: If you click the link to the EW article for Page 4, it says, SPOILER "Part 1, by the way, will end at about Chapter 24 of the book, with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death."

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 02:39:09

@ Jason Baker...I actually have the ACTUAL MAGAZINE...I bought it at Wal-Mart, and YES....IT DOES SAY WHERE THE SPLIT IS THANK YOU VERY MUCH! It says: "Part 1, by the way, will end at about Chapter 24 of the book with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death." I normally dont buy magazines, but I had to this time because I wanted to make sure this was all legit. So, there it is to you and anyone else who doesn't believe this is true. EW is a BIG TIME MAGAZINE...They wouldn't print that info if they didn't have the facts.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 04:12:18

i want to watch this movie soooo badddd its going to suck that its only up to chapter 24 but it will be fun!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 08:47:20

wow! I don't think any of us were expecting that! sounds exciting, though! I was pulling for a ron's return/silver doe thing, but this makes sense and will be v. v. dramatic I think. it's rather late in the book... there's going to be a hecka intense battle scene!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 09:06:53

*spoiler* the photographs are making me so excited!!! I love the lovegood's house, though mr. lovegood's wig is a bit odd-- so is he. very glad the CoS scene makes it in!!! also, good to see hermione with bloody hands again, since they've been editing the blood out of trailers. cool to hear about dan and rupert meeting the obamas also, sweet about the cake!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 14:16:40

Assuming if the split is at Chapter 24, then that means that the DH trailer we got from the HBP DVD was all stuff from Part 1

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 14:17:54

November is going to be awesome. There's the Toy Story 3 DVD on November 2nd. Then Megamind and Due Date are released on the 5th. Then Deathly Hallows Part 1 on November 19th.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 14:19:11

This leaves like 2 hours for the battle of Hogwarts :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 15:01:39

The split is around Chapter 24

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 15:10:25

great ending point. it is a moment of deep suspense and forboding when voldemort gets the wand. also, i'm excited that malfoy mannor will be in part one... :))

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 17:29:44

This leaves a ton of stuff for part 1, though. The meeting with the Death Eaters, the seven Potters battle, the Burrow (Dumbledore's will), the wedding, the fight at the cafe, Grimmauld Place (Kreacher's tale), the Ministry of Magic, Godric's Hollow, the Silver Doe, the Lovegood's, Malfoy Manor, and arriving at Shell Cottage. And within that are the subplots involving Ron, the Elder Wand, etc.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 17:32:17

The movie also needs to take time to develop the plot of the Hallows and Horcruxes.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 17:46:16

I hate it that everytime Ginny/Harry kiss it always looks awkward. I like where the split is, great cliff hanger for the people that haven't read it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 19:26:53

@Alicia- That's because Dan's gay.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-15 20:56:13

Part 2 it´s gonna be practicly war war and more war, and I have to say that despite what Bonnie says, Dan is shorter than her and that has to be akward to both of them, and also funny lol.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 00:16:01

watch the trailer before you read this. I can GUARANTEE that before 1:31 they are gunna show a scene with harry and what not.. then a long scene with voldemort getting the elder wand. then 1:31 is going to be the very last scene of part 1.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 04:42:28

OMG...i can't wait, at first i thought the split was going to be just before /after Dobby dies. BOY I WAS WRONG. my friends and i can't wait. the second part is going to be awesome actually the whole movie will be i got to remember to bring tissues it will be so sad :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 04:43:47

I thought it would split just after dobby dies! Can't wait

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 06:09:06

Wow! Xenophilius Lovegood looks exactly like Lucius Malfoy from A Very Potter Sequel!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 08:59:11

Okay, I've been hunting everywhere for EW, found one copy at Target, but it was an older one. I finally found it at Publix and it was dated for the 13th, but it wasn't the HP one :( Was it dated for the 13th? ~~ @Peacefreak17...Dan isn't gay. I think sometimes they feel a little self-conscious about the kissing scenes; I read somewhere that Emma said it felt sort of incestuous when she had to kiss Dan and Rupert cause they feel more like brothers and sister since they've worked together so long.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 10:14:07

According to Snitchseeker, WB is supposed to give us hi-res stills of the pictures released in the magazine today.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 10:24:53

@Peacefreak17 where did you here that? He said in those magazines that he is currently "chasing girls".

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 11:33:38

@Peacefreak17 I hope Dan is not gay.....and @ Brattyc EMMA KISSED DAN in the 7th movie? Really? I didn't know that....

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 11:58:38

*SPOILER ALERT* I'm so excited about this!! This is just about where I thought it would be!!!! I bet they'll skip all of the Ollivander/Griphook stuff and put it in the second one.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 12:18:06

im sooooo glad this is where they split it its the perfect part im just sad about dobby dying :( stupid bellatrix go mrs weasley for killing her:):):):) to bad that parts in part 2 i cant wait to see it!!!!!!!:):):):):) o and im pretty sure dan is not gay!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 13:01:42

@Stella Goly ~ *POSSIBLE SPOILER* From what I've read it happens when Ron opens the locket, it's part of the vision that he sees of "Harry and Hermione".

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 13:33:33

@Stella- *Spoiler?* Yah, they lyk totally make out in the seventh!!!! GOSH!!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 16:46:45

Hate Bonnie Wright as Ginny, she's so award and unGinny-like

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-16 21:48:00

@Beccaphoenix16- I agree. I can't even watch her awkwardness. It kills me.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-17 06:26:43

Right where I wanted it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-17 09:56:23

This is the perfect place for the split. At first I hear where it was and was like no big deal, but when I looked at the book again it all makes sense. It wraps up about two-thirds of the book nicely, and leaves you wanting to see more. Also, we get to see more of the battle in part 2.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-17 14:13:49

Loving the split :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-17 14:31:55

I think the split is a little late.... I think it may make the battle take too long... but as long as they stay true to the book, i am extremely happy!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-18 14:53:38

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDB2Et54Vpo

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-18 14:53:55

i agree that the split it is a bit late. But i'm just so excited for november! It needs to come faster. The midnight premiere is gonna be awesome!!! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-20 09:43:40

I am very interested as to how this will play out on screen. As of now we can only speculate, but I look forward to seeing the movies and how they manage to fit "seemingly" too much into Part I. Part I happens over the course of 8 months and Part II over the course of just 2 days, so I want to see how that will be handled so it won't be that big of a difference.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-21 10:18:37

I love the pics!!! Luna's house looks crazy so this will be an awesome movie!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-23 18:10:14

*SPOLIER ALERT!* In this movie Hedwig dies.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-24 13:42:02

Wow, these pictures are ace!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-24 13:43:34

I love the look of Luna's house so far - awesome pictures!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-28 00:01:32

i am most excited to see neville slice nagini's head off

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-29 14:31:42

SOOOOOO EXCITED! I absolutely LOVE the split point--(*spoiler*) when Voldy gets the Elder Wand is a FANTASTIC place for it to be--love it! :P That way, both movies get an equal omount of *epicness* time, and Part 1 is not shorted out. *Part 2 most definitely is mostly the battle--awesome!* One thing I was a little concerned about was that had they cut at Malfoy Manor or Shell Cottage, there wouldn't be enough time for mostly the battle in Part 2. Also, as I mentioned earlier, Part 1 has just enough excitement as Part 2. Love it! :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-30 08:22:12

Love it. And Liliana, seriously it's not a hat?!? WOW the different coloured hair in the death eater still makes slightly more sense now...oh and can I just ask...I know this is in the second part but has there been anything about Snape's memories yet? That is like one of my favourite chapters in the entire series.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-30 16:24:41

@Jaye Sosa- Dude, that's pretty violent of you!!!! Think of all the kidz in the theater...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-30 22:16:58

Even if EW didn't reveal it, like MugglCast said, the split would've leaked SOMEHOW! I'm glad that the split wasn't revealed sooner!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-08-30 22:19:03

Is it just me, but when I found out what the split was I WASN'T surprised! I never considered this to be the split, but somehow when I found out, I wasn't shocked. Well, other than that I think the split will give Part 1 the full movie effect. I'm so happy that Malfoy Manor is in Part 1

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-09-01 18:08:42

I think that is the perfect place to split!!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-09-08 16:00:57

I'm super excited about the split! And i think they'll get everything in because that first part is so long with a lot of moving from one place to the next so they will be able to make some shifts and focus on the action. although i have heard that it is a bit slow. Still extremely psyched for it!! I feel like i have waited a lifetime. But its been a decade of movies its pretty cool to be part of the phenomenon! Plus I'm happy that Malfoy Manor is in part one that's one of my favorite chapters!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-09-11 06:10:19

excited and can't wait. :) the split is great and would really keep all hp fans hanging... :]

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-09-11 10:04:55

Im so glad they revealed the split point because now i can read just part 1 in the book.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-10-16 20:27:26

So it's official then that the split is where the Voldy gets the wand? My mom wanted to know so she could stop re reading the book where the first film is set to end. I hope I gave her the right information.
