Micah and I recently received review copies of the upcoming book 'Harry Potter Film Wizardry', which is set to hit store shelves October 19th.  Below is our review:

Don’t judge a book by its cover. When you look at the front of 'Harry Potter Film Wizardry' - with its basic design showing 6 characters in circular windows - one may assume you’ll be in for a light read. The truth is, the front cover is the first and last simple part of the book.

'Harry Potter Film Wizardry' is a massive encyclopedia about the entire film franchise created by the people who have made these films. It includes numerous new interviews and essays from Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, producer David Heyman, production designer Stuart Craig, and various others involved with the films.

It’s organized by movie and covers the major characters, sets, and scenes. It is heavy on photos revealing behind-the-scenes action, concept art, models, and sets. In between the photos are lots of details. You’ll find yourself immersed, spending a surprising amount of time getting through even one page.

A fun surprise are the props scattered throughout which can be removed and put on display. Some that come with the book include a Quidditch World Cup programme, a Yule Ball programme, a Educational Decree Proclamation issued by Umbridge, and a copy of the Marauder’s Map.

'Harry Potter Film Wizardry' provides the first look behind the scenes of Deathly Hallows, Part 1. From Bill and Fleur’s wedding to the Lovegood’s home and back inside the Ministry. It is also the first chance for fans to take a sneak peak at Deathly Hallows, Part 2 with concept art and set notes.

We highly recommend 'Harry Potter Film Wizardry' for any passionate Harry Potter fan. It’s a perfect gift for the Holiday season that lives up to its $39.99 price tag.
