Quidditch makes High School senior's class project a success

MuggleNet fan Victoria from Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, California shared her Senior Class project story with us of how she organized a Quidditch match between Team Gryffindor and Team Slytherin at her school. Following the rules established by the International Quidditch Association, utilizing the High School football field as the quidditch pitch, and making their own goal posts with hula hoops all contributed to a fantastic time and memorable event for the senior class.

Quidditch has become a large growing muggle sport on the International level over the last few years. This past November, MuggleNet reported on the 4th Annual World Quidditch Cup that was held in New York with the top 46 teams from the collegiate level competing for high honors. The sport has grown from its original beginnings in 2005 when Middlebury College student Alexander Manshel adapted the sport found in the Potter series to a muggle version.

Today, over 400 colleges and 300 high schools across the US and Canada enjoy competitive Quidditch, and more schools are adapting the sport every year. Earlier this month, the Western Cup was held in Los Angeles, California and later this month a Quidditch class will be held at the Aeternitas convention in New Hampshire. No matter where you live or go to school, Quidditch can be your sport of choice; so why not be like Victoria and establish your own Quidditch event. The IQA will be glad to assist you.
