MuggleNet Throwback: JK Rowling donates 'Black Family Tree' to Book Aid International

On January 28th, 2006, author J.K. Rowling donated a hand-drawn printing of The House of Black Family Tree to Book Aid International, a charity she supports that helps support literacy in the world's poorest countries. The House of Black Family Tree was then auctioned off on February 22, 2006 by Book Aid International and the winning bid of approximately 30,000 GBP went to none other than Harry Potter himself - Daniel Radcliffe.

Marcia Gresham, Dan's mother, bid at the auction on behalf on young Dan and not only did he purchase The House of Black Family Tree, but also purchased a short Stoppard play entitled Murder for 3,700 GBP and a humorous piece on writing by Banks for 980 GBP.
