Potter to stay in Georgia schools
Laura Mallory's case for removing the Harry Potter books from Georgia's libraries was dealt another blow today, as the Georgia Board of Education made a unanimous decision to keep the books.
The Gwinnett County school board also voted previously for the books to remain, but Mallory appealed the decision to the state school board. Mallory, who has been working for over a year to ban the books, has shown no signs of giving up, as there is talk of yet another appeal.

Doesn't she have something better to do then ban a book that over a million people like?
Since I read Harry Potter, I'll use my evil satanistic witch craft to stop Mallory from making another appeal. Oooooo, look at me, I'm a devil worshipper because I read Harry Potter!!@@!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! >:)
Alas, there are things worse than death. Like being Laura Mallory, a completely incompitent weirdo.
HAHAHAHA B****!!!! there is no reason for stopping the spread of HP... preventing your own kids, ok fine-- when they're 18 they're just gonna go to college and party and do w/e the hell the want anyway.... your kids your choice, but your not stopping other kids and teens enjoying HP!

Up yours, Mallory. Up yours.
YES! I knew that they would not take a book as amazing as Harry Potter off the shelves! YES! That woman is truly crazy. If she has a problem with the books then she should just tell HER kids not to read them. She is just being selfish to deprive other kids of the right to read. I am so happy with the results. They better keep her away from trying to start even more junk with the gov.
Let me make my view on this matter quite plain. Ahem: I don't care WHAT the Potter books portray. My own lack of religious beliefs aside (I am presently agnostic leaning toward atheism), whether there is a message for or against this or that non-Christian practice is immaterial. And unless you're gonna argue that all books portraying your particular brand of good Christianity--including but not limited to characters who are portrayed, favorably or no, as practicing said religion--you can't argue against the books as promoting an opposing religion, either. (One must here acknowledge the important note that the fanciful, cartoonish wizardry of Potter, whilst shaded with accurate facts regarding witchcraft culture, does not as a whole even come remotely close to any existing witchcraft culture. I.e. there's no specific religion being portrayed.) As to Potterdad's post. Ahem: I hereby begin a motion to ban from school libraries all books opposed to the idea of placing the care of children on the state. Any objections? ...Why? WHY?! Because I happen to agree with the idea. And the books I want banned do not. ... Okay, I'm kidding, but do ya see the point the joke illustrates? If ya can't, here it be, sirs and sir-ettes: If a book portrays a given viewpoint favorably, or unfavorably, then some folks and folkettes who respectively disagree with, or agree with, the viewpoint, will consider the possibility of limiting the book's--or whatever mode of info-transfer, be it video, 'net, videoGAME, or what-have-ye--availabilit y to those they do not want to read (or view... or use... or play... etc.) the book or miscellaneous medium of information. To be brief (I have only a teensy space left...), this is a matter of personal opinion. Bannings based on personal opinion should be limited to private schools. Public ones, in which a variety of often opposing moral codes are thrown into the educational salad bowl, should be more freeform.
Let the moron waste her time.
why won't the little roach give up? i mean there the best books eva.
ANOTHER appeal? my goodness, doesn't she have anything better to do with her life...like maybe pick the lint off her clothes or something? that would even be more productive!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
I wonder if I have her address in the phonebook upstairs? Hmmmm...
Haha! She never gives up does she? If she's so bothered about it then she should just ban her own poor children from reading them rather than trying to force the ban on everyone else!
I respect 100% that Mallory does not like the books, whether she read them or not, and the fact that she doesn't want her children reading them. That's her perogative as a parent. However I feel it foolish to ban them from school libraries. She may have the right to tell her kids what and what not to do, but that doesn't give her the right to step on what other parents allow their children to read. As the article said, if it's a matter of witchcraft, classics such as Macbeth and Cinderella would pulled as well. What's going to happen when her children get older and are required to read Macbeth for English? Will she try to ban Macbeth? Pull her kids out of the school? Harry Potter has gotten many kids into reading. I'm an adult, and I've never been reader. Harry Potter has even gotten me into reading. It is true that at a certain, a child doesn't recognize the difference between fiction and reality, but at that age, it seems that it's usually parents reading to the child - the parent helps their child gain a sense of what is real and what isn't (ie. monsters under the bed, in the closet, etc). As far as the second appeal goes - I'm amazed that she is going to try for another appeal. I can certainly understand the first appeal, and I could understand the second appeal if the ban/don't ban results were neck and neck. Unanimous the first time, unanimus the second - she would need a whole lot to convince a unanimous jury to change their minds. While, I don't agree with what she's doing, you do have to give her credit for not giving up in something she believes in.
Laura Mallory is too stupid to understand these books are juist that books IDIOT!!!!
OMG JUST GIVE UP!!!! I'm so sick of hearing her trying to ban HP when she's barely skimmed the books! The main theme is love anyways, so how could it demonstrate evil?! Stupid attention seeker. I think laura should march right down to mallory's house and have a talk with her!
Oh please, she's still trying? If she doesn't realize by now that she can't win this...
Hahaha, stupid woman. She's wasting her time =P Court: For the last time Mrs.Mallory, we will NOT be banning these books! Mallory: But they promote witchcraft! And witchcraft is evil! EVILLLL!!!
It's muggles like her that make me wanna join the death eaters. just kidding! she's still evil though. Doubt she'll go to heaven for that.
HA HA TAKE THAT YOU BEYOTCH
Dear Ms. Mallory: UNANAMOUS. Give it up and forbid your OWN kids to read them. Dear Potterdad: Please see "Dear Ms. Mallory". ~TheTrueHeirofRavenclaw (P.S. I like the waife-swap idea--stick her in a house full of Potter MANIACS!! ((Also, I'll babysit her kids...And have them watch ALL the movies, read ALL the books, and visit mugglenet EVERY DAY!! MOO-HOO-HAHAHAHAHA, precious!!!)))
For those of you saying let's send her books, that's called harrassment. As much as I disagree with her opinion, she has as much freedom to express her opinion as any of us. Let's not send her anything and just agree to disagree. If this ruling will be directly affecting you, there are things that can be done to actually counter her case, like writing an amicus brief against her. Let's not give the Harry Potter fan community a bad name by harrassing her and demonstrating the kind of behavior she claims that the books advocate.
I don't know how much we can say to this news post. We knew it was going to happen. I just fear another appeal. If this process were to continue, this woman would suffer some severe consequences. That is, if she is not already exhausted. I wonder what will happen if she carries this on. Will the High Court take this case? I wish Sandra Day O'Conner was still a Justice. She's laugh in Laura Mallory's face.
HALELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! give it up u stupid no good might as well be umbridge looser
Yet ANOTHER trial? oO; Give up, woman, for you will never succeed. Woo, HP books are here to stay. ^^
i knew they would keep it!!!! there was absolutely no way some disillusioned woman would simply get rid of the most popular book series ever!!! she's just like umbridge, with the wrong idea and then getting kicked out. thank goodness they kept it.
What a moron !Death Eaters unite! some one needs to to do an imperio on that evil lady and make her catch bricks with her face.
wow doesnt she have better things to do? another amendment? i hope she is losing sleep over this...
*snort* Is she going for a world record? I don't know how her kids will look up to her when they really learn what she's trying to do. How embarassing.
OMG will she ever just GIVE IT UP!!!
I am so glad that she was not able to get the books banned. It's a waste of time that could be better used. She really needs to read them herself and let other parents watch what their children read. How can one be so determined to extinguish the urge for children to read? She needs to give up!!! She will never win!!!!
IN YO FACE!
YES!!!!! I am so happy!!!!! I would have loved the look on Mallorys face when the verdict was read! hehehehehehe.........I think that the mear idea of the books being band was an obserd thought and she must be out of her mind.... I really feel bad for her kids!! .............but all is well in the potter universe!
HA!!!!! That itll show you laura whats your face! Ha, ha, and again HA!
you know if the courts rule on the case three times, it can go to the supreme court...
You know what would be rich? If her kids turned out to be harcore HP fans behind her back. If I was this womans kid I would SO start wearing pentacles, listening to heavy metal and I would read books on Wicca at the dinner table. She needs to be slapped upside the head with a hardcover copy of OotP. Seriously. Being and agnostic going on atheist myself, if there is one thing that bothers me more then overly-religious pigheads, its the willfully ignorant.
Good Choice Georgia Board of Education!!! so i just want to say......... IN YOUR FACE LAURA MALLORY!!!!!!!
I'd absolutely hate to have a conversation with her. Doesn't she have anything better to do than appeal a case over and over again? Get over it, Mallory. Ready. Set. Go.
Shun the non-believer! Shun!
Laura Mallory is the world's biggest COW!!! I won't go into my feelings about her because I am sure we all feel the same... WHAT A COW!!!!
My apologies to Mizz_Moony_Luver, but if Mallory's kids were hardcore HP fans and started wearing pentacles, listened to heavy metal, and started reading books on Wicca at the dinner table, then that would just be proving her point, which is NOT what we as HP fans want!! I do not condone forcing one's views on the general public, which is what Mallory is trying to do, but at the same time is what some people who have commented are trying to do. Sending Mallory HP books is forcing your view on her, or attempting to force her to do something she has stated she is unwilling to do (for rediculous reasions, I know), but doing this is, as someone stated, harrassment. We, as HP fans, should want to be seen in a better light than a bunch of babbling idiots harrassing a woman with terribly radical views. The said harrassment may force the courts to rethink their decision about the effects of HP on the minds of youths (in other words, the courts may decide that HP causes youths to harrass people for radical views, and decide to ban the books "legitimately")
ha what a foolish git. well isn't it obvious she's trying 2 gain a bit of fame?? HARRY POTTER is the most popular book series of the generation that the reason why she's caught hold of them. i mean there are many books that focus upon witchcraft and if she'd been trying 2 ban them she wouldn't have bcom much popular would she?? it seems 2 me as though this lady is financially quite fit and is probably bored with life and is trying 2 earn fame by these extreme riddiculous acts
This woman, is simply an ATTENTION WHORE. She can't seem to get enough of it. No one mentally or emotionally balanced would continue a fight so long over books they have never read. She likes the attention.
At this point, I'm sure she knows she can't win. She's doing it for publicity.
I wonder if Mrs. Mallory has ever actually read the Bible? Considering how often she has tried to bolster her case by twisting quotes from Jo and otherwise outright lying about the books, I think she could use a refresher course on the ten commandments. Particularly the one about not bearing false witness against your neighbor...
Okay, I want to get something very clear: HER TRYING TO BAN THE BOOKS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT'S SUPPORTED BY THE MAJORITY OF PRIESTS, REVERENDS, PASTORS, RELIGIOUS SISTERS & BROTHERS OR JUST PLAIN CHRISTIAN PEOPLE! THIS IS EXTREMISM, MY CHURCH ROLLS THEIR EYES AT MALLORY, AS DO I. I don't get why she's trying to ban this particular book series anyways, why not the DaVinci Code (nothing against the book/movie on my part), or books that actually teach, encourage, and brainwash children how to actually perform witchcraft?
Where can we send this woman hate mail???
Rolling eyes....shaking head. Both at Mrs. Mallory and at the venom being spewed in this thread. Being nasty to / about her just makes us seem bitter and small.
