Nicholas Hooper confirmed to compose OOTP
HPANA recently reported that Nicholas Hooper will be composing the soundtrack for the next Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Warner Bros. confirmed yesterday to Film Music Radio that he will indeed be scoring the soundtrack for the fifth film.

In 2004, Hooper won the BAFTA for Best Original Score and was nominated several other times for prestigious awards.

Thanks to Bun Bun for sending this in!

Sorry, you just can't beat the magic John Williams created with his scores. You can almost feel the magic in the air when Hedwig's Theme is played!

I still haven't gotten over the fact that Williams isn't composing. If I don't like his music, it won't really help my grief.

Hooper- Whata? Who IS this guy??? Never heard of him.... In my humble opinion, I think the GoF and PoA SOUNDTRACK was the BEST!!!! Loved it!! AND I OWN IT!!! *LaughsManiacally* Okay.....Over. I have faith in whoever picks the guy to do the soundrack for OotP...Can't Wait for July '07!!! I'm ACTUALLY COUNTING THE DAYS.....I KNOW I'M MAD!!

I've never heard of this guy before, but I'm excited. Yes, nothing will ever be able to totally replace the original works of John Williams with Harry, but as the books progress, so do the movies. So, in turn, does the music. I don't think Williams would be able to keep up the different songs for *all* the Harry Potter films when the first three were rather similar. Don't get me wrong - I loved them. But I think that since each new movie is coming into its own with new directors, they need new music as well. Personally, I loved the score for GoF. It's my favorite of the four. It was refreshing for me to hear something completely different done with the music. I'm looking forward to this new composer to see what he can do! :D

where's john williams??!!!

I was sort of disappointed with Patrick Doyle's..because he used only one of the themes. The rest of the themes were long, loud, and forgettable. The old JW ones will remain in my head forever. Hopefully this new composer won't find the need to compose "all new" Harry Potter music, and give us Potter fans what we love the most.

i loved Williams music,it was really beautiful, but it will be interesting to see what this new guy has to offer!give poor hooper a chance.:)

John Williams needs to come back!!!! what would the harry potter movies be without Hedwig's Theme? Mr. Hooper, if you read this please ask Mr. Williams to put in Hedwig's Theme like Mr. Doyle did!!!! i'm really looking forward to the new movie and i'm also looking forward to the new soundtrack and it better be worth while!!!!

um... okay... but wut was wrong with the other guy? why do they have to keep changing composers? >sigh< ah well... but i haven't heard of any of those other things it says he composed for... i think i have one of them in book form at home (yes, i speak goodly english) but i haven't actuallyu seen any of the movies...

awwww....i was actually optimistic when i saw john williams' name on the harry potter 5 crew on imdb; i haven't even heard of this guy, but then again, i am in the US! I hope he still uses the John Williams theme and not like patrick doyle where he created a whole new harry potter music.

i absolutely LOVE all 4 soundtracks. i have to admit that John Williams did the best in my opinion. "Hedwig's Theme" has got to be one of my favorite songs ever! i listened to it 3 times on the bus this morning haha. don't even get me started on the PoA soundtrack....favorite ever! as for the 4th movie, it seemed a little less complicated. i've played in the pit orchestra for a production of "West Side Story" so i have a good sense of when music is simple and when it isn't. i'm not saying Patrick Doyle took the easy way out, it just seemed like it had less going on (although i still listen to a few songs on the cd constantly). i'm really excited to see what Hooper has to offer and i'm sure he'll do a good job... and hopefully add in some of the old themes :-)

AH I MISS WILLIAMS!!!! All of his music makes me feel so happy and good! :-) But I was very very very very dissappointed with doyle's because the bad sounding remake of Hedwig's Theme was only played like three times!!!!!!! Williams really brought the magic and emotion to the movie. His music is by far the best I've ever heard other than the Pirates of the Carribean music and maybe Narnia. .... But honestly why did John stop composing for the Potter films??!?!?!?
