i have been doing some research on the horcruxes: 1. diary - destroyed 2. locket - destroyed (that we know of anyway) 3. ring - destroyed 4. cup of hufflepuff - still remains 5. snake nagini of voldemorts - still remains 6. some relic of ravenclaw or gryffindore - still remains : NOTE: griffindores sword is not a horcrux - hp & hbp pg. 505 bottom paragraph. "the only known relic of gryffindor remains safe". 7. voldemort himself - the ramaining sole left. the hallows are probly the remaining horcruxes. cause they are protected by inchantments and curses. in case the ring. it had a curse that if dumbledore hadnt gotten help when he did could have killed him. i believe this is where the title comes in to play "THE DEATHLY HALLOWS" pretaining to the dream that jkr had being harry and talking about that the horcrux and chimney. i would have to say she pretty much told us were one is gonna be at. in a chimney nook in a big hall. well like everyone else i cant wait to see what gonna happen, how its gonna happen, where and how long it takes harry to find and destroy all of the horcruxes. i also wonder who will join harry besides ron and hermy. i think there will be help by the order.

Book 7 is called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. At the end of HBP Harry said to Hermione and Ron that he had to go back to where his parents died. Godric Hollow. Could there be any relation between the 2 names? Will the main scene in the book happen at the place where James and Lily Potter were murdered? Will Sirius come back? Will Voldemort try to break into Harry's memory and lure him to a certain destination? Will Harry's "saving people thing" cost him another friend?

amandab_16 asked "isn't the Sorting Hat a relic of Gryffindor's?" i dont believe it was. if i remember right the hat was created by the three founders (cause slytherin already left) to up hold the legacy of each founder and to choose which house each student would enter after they all have left the school. so its a relic of the remaining three. hufflepuff, ravenclaw, and gryfindore.

Guys, the name Deathly Hallows has not been officially revealed yet. So we are not 100% sure that it is the name of book 7. As you guys may have noticed, other titles work for the hangman game as well. DONT GET YOU HOPES UP YET.

THEORY - Please excuse me if someone's thought of this already as I don't have time to read over 1000 comments. Here it is- Deathly Hallows. We know the Mirror of Erised will be making another appearance in this book. We know Harry will be searching for the Horcrux's. Could Deathly Hallows be a place he has to go in search of the Horcrux's? I don't mean that all the Horcrux's will be in the DH. But that the information he needs to find the Horcrux's will be found in the DH. We know how Horcrux's are made. Murder. Harry could see his parents in the mirror and they were both murdered by Voldemort. Perhaps the mirror will turn out to be a passage of sorts to the DH and there he can find the people killed by Voldemort in order to make the Horcrux's, essentially using them to help locate and destroy them. Just a thought.

Isn't Hallow a verb? As in Hallowed ground, hallowed be thy name etc. I'm not sure what Deathly Hallows means, the only thing I can think of is like All Hallows Evening ie Hallowe'en

hey basicblack, the Sorting Hat is a relic of Gryffinndor's. I remember the sorting hat's song: He whiped me off his head The founders put some brains in me so I could choose instead. Now slip me snug around your head, I've never yet been wrong. I'll have a look inside your head and tell where you belong. He refers to Gryffindor, and I suspect 'putting some brains in me' means that the other founders cast spells on the Sorting hat to make it magically, but still Gryffindor's.

Where does it say that Harry's parents were killed on Halloween? I don't remember. I do however know that they were killed on a Monday and Dumbledore left Harry at the Dursley's on Tuesday night. I checked the Calendar and found out that October 31st fell on a Monday only in the years, '83, '88, '94 and, '05. So which one was it? Or am I looking at this all wrong?
