The title of Book 7!
Presenting your Christmas present from Jo Rowling:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Thank you, Jo, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Analyze the title: Debate and discussion about the title is currently taking place over at our forums - go check it out!

The release date: Find out when we think Book 7 will be released, now that we have a title.

EDIT: Some news outlets are reporting the title as "Deathly Hollows," but this is incorrect. Also, for those of you who hadn't noticed, the title was released yesterday on the winter solstice. Recall in OOTP: "...at the solstice will come a new... and none will come after..." At the winter solstice, a new title will be revealed, but as this is the last book, no more will be released.

I thought at first the seventh book was called Harry Potter and The Hateful Halllow. For a moment I thought Harry Potter was becoming Morrissey.

I really want to comment on this post, so that I can say I did, you know? It is the last title and all - the last time we'll get an announcement like this. So really - thanks Jo :D The title is awesome - dark and spooky and lovely. Everything I've come to expect.

I have a theory. Is it possible that Mundungus sold the Slytherin locket when he was stealing and selling the Black family heirlooms? Does this mean the locket could be anywhere? With any dark wizard? Yeah, good luck with that Harry... Just a theory. Love the title JK, very interesting... Gives us just enough info to start speculating but not enough for us to figure it out and ruin the whole book.

I know this is late but honestly I don't care. I just want to be able to say I posted. This is so saddening to me because this is really it. Its going to be over next summer [08]. Yeah I'm calling out all you hopeful 7-7-07 shippers. Just think, soon we'll have the book. No more late night chats, no more theories, no more listening to podcasts no more avidly sitting on Mugglenet waiting for news. Its really going to be done soon. I want the book as much as everyone else but it's going to be like a bittersweet pill to swallow for all of us. I know everyone is hyped up but I don't want this to end. I'm having the time of my life and know that all the over 1000 people who commented on this are too. I have no idea as to what the book title means but hey you can't judge a book by its cover, or in this case title. I doubt we'll ever come even remotely close to the truth about what the Deathly Hallows are, is, or whatever. I sincerely doubt that any of us ever saw the Horcruxes coming or the prophecy. This is the first time I'm fully aware of all the news happening before the book release. And it'll be the last time too. I'm sure it's the same way for alot of people. So here's to the beginning of the end.

OK... you guys are getting theories all wrong. Can I just remind you that 'Deathly' is an ADVERB, it is DESCRIBING A VERB.And the verb which it is describing is 'Hallows'. Now according to someone in the CoS forums, a hallow is to whisper or cry or something relating to talking. Harry heard voices behind the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the veil is said to be in..."The DEATH Chamber". So I'm thinking the whispers behind the veil were relating to death, since whoever falls through it [Sirius] dies immediately. JKR's title is translated as "Harry Potter and the Death-Related Whispers Behind The Veil". Sorry about the long rant :P

ive posted this somewhere else but i wanted to put it here. harry survives by someones own sacrifice. he then marries ginny and later becomes a the dada teacher at hw. hermione gets together with viktor crum not ron. malfoy gets killed by voldemort . snape and lupin get into a dual, after voldermort is killed all death eaters are put back into prison or killed.

Posted by basicblack Dec 30th 2006

snape is also killed by lupin during the dual from earlier.

Posted by basicblack Dec 31st 2006

harry is not a horcrux there is no way that voldermort tore his sole in two and put it in harrys head. harry got the scare by the curse that bounced back off his head and hit voldy.
