MuggleNet Throwback: James and Sirius have a run-in with police in JKR's 'Potter Prequel'

Our MuggleNet Throwback for this week takes us back four years ago to June 10, 2008, as we spotlight the Harry Potter Prequel story hand-written by author J.K. Rowling. The story sold at Waterstone's for 25,000 GBP (approximately $50,000) to an absentee bidder during the What's Your Story? charity auction.

The "absentee bidder" was Hira Digpal, president of Tokyo-based investment-banking consulting company Red-33. Digpal, who originally had a closed bid of 50,000 pounds before halving his offer, said he faxed a letter to Rowling's publisher asking for the author's cooperation to use the story in a way that would raise more money for charity. He declined to give details of the proposal.

J.K. Rowling is certainly no stranger to using the Harry Potter storyline for charitable contributions. In fact, Tales of Beedle the Bard sold at auction to benefit the Children's High Level Group. But this prequel story was short and sweet, written on a storycard that Potter fans around the world would enjoy as the storyline featured two favorite characters in James Potter and Sirius Black.
