Seven cool things about Ascendio, #6

Ascendio is H.P.E.F's upcoming eighth and final Harry Potter convention. Taking place at the luxurious Portofino Bay Resort at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL from July 12-15, 2012, Ascendio offers a unique way for fans to celebrate Harry Potter at the heart of the Wizarding World.

Online registration for the convention will close tomorrow, June 25, 2012. That is why this week we are featuring one cool thing about Ascendio each day here on MuggleNet.

On Thursday, July 12, Ascendio will be hosting Ascendio Wrocks -- a jam-packed afternoon of Wrock performances on the Ascendio main stage. An exciting line-up of bands will take to the stage for an all-day Wrock concert. If you're not already registered and all you want is Wrock? You can pick up a Thursday Day Pass by registering here before June 25; tickets will also be available on-site at the Registration Desk from 10 AM on Thursday until the concerts are over.

Not only is there Wrock on Thurday, but there will also be acoustic shows in the Common Room at different times throughout the rest of the con, and Wrockers will be taking part in WxWxW (Wands by Wands by Wizards) revue show.

The bands will be playing starting late in the morning, and the doors will open at about 10:30. Here's the order of the bands:

Also on Thursday at 11 AM is the grand opening of the Ascendio Art Gallery, featuring a collection of fan-art and sculptures, Artist in Residence Glockgal, a space for artists and crafters to get creative as a group or individually, and something special from longtime HP fancon supporter ArtInsights. ArtInsights Animation and Film Art Gallery has brought together an exclusive collection of original art used in the making of the Harry Potter film series and new exclusive not-to-be-missed limited editions never before available in the US! Whether you are a Weasley fan or a fan of He Who Shall Not Be Named, there will be something for every artist and art lover at Ascendio.
