New 'Philosopher's Stone' available
Last September, we told you that Bloomsbury, in celebration of their 21st birthday, would re-release 21 books, including Philosopher's Stone. This new version of Book 1 is now available, and includes a short introduction by JK Rowling:
[Favorite] Children's Book
It's a three way tie between "The Story of the Treasure Seekers" by Edith Nesbit, for the character of Oswald, "Manxmouse" by Paul Gallico, for its wistful, magical tone, and "The Little White Horse" by Elizabeth Goudge, for its plain, vain heroine.

Classic
"Emma" by Jane Austen, for the incomparable characterisation, the humour of so much self-delusion and the Churchill/ Fairfax twist.
Contemporary book
It changes monthly, but the last novel I fell in love with was "Arthur and George" by Julian Barnes, and the last piece of non-fiction I couldn't put down was "Assassination Vacation" by Sarah Vowell.
Thanks to TLC for these excerpts.

Awsome. I don't think I'll buy it though. :-P
Nice one, think I'll buy that book to see if its any good. I always thought that PS is to short because it was JKR first book and she didn't want to make it too long.
Awesome, I will agree with Nusayba though, I will not buy it. But kudos on the release. Besides, I do not want to look into the past, I want the future and the future is Deathly Hallows. HURRY UP JO!!!!. Top five
Hey! Don't ask Jo to hurry, let her take all the time in the world to finished off the LAST book of them all. =)
...but it's still got the same old cover! i allways wondered who that type on the bach is? little young to be dumbledore, right?
OMG i'm on the 1st page of the comments!sorry, thats got nothing to do with the book, but i dont really care, why do you need about 10 different copies of the same book
Err... can people who live in the US buy that?
That would be a nice addition to my small library, Lets see there's atleast six in it now. How much american, Mate?
Lol, I feel the same way you do Emell.. But, it might give me something to read while I am awaiting Deathly Hallows!!
TOP TEN!!!!! :D:D:D:DXD
watever...i want the seventh book !
KOOL... but the only difference there will be is that it has a introduction.... or am i wrong! ha? well soon find out ah... but i doubt i will buy it... after all i have the original!
i wont this book coz ps was the book that introduced me to the vast wrld reading and no book can replace it! not even its replica wch sounds cool though
Totally AWESOME!!! I REALLY want it!
That's wicked but I can't buy it. Too bad.....I'd much rather read the Deathly Hallows, anyway!
I think I will wait untill a special package with all 7 books comes available!!, I already pre-order mine what are you waiting?
That's nice to know
Did anyone watch House last night? House called one of the orderlies "Voldemort." It was funny.
The cover looks awesome! But like some other people said, I'd rather spend my money to buy Deathly Hallows! (whenever that comes out sheeeesh)
dont you think its a bit ironic that 2 books were both titled with harry potter actors&charactors. like "Emma" and Emma Watson, hermione. Or "Arthur and George" Arthur Weasly, Mr.Weasly and George and Fred Weasly?. if you ask me its a bit ironic.
That's so cool! X3 Actually, I think I might buy it.
I got my copy like last week! i havent read it though! i only bought it cos of its significance!!! (and it was only £2.99 - so i thought why not...) p.s £2.99 is like $4.50 i think!
Its so cool that another one is coming out, though I dont like the cover very well.
cool!!
So, does it look like the original, or is it maybe the white cover with a picture of the original edition on it (as the image above seems to indicate)? Seems unlikely, but I want to be sure before I order it online.
ohh excelent!
Haha! Her latest favorite contemporary book was Arthur and George! That's pretty funny - wouldn't be a hoot if it were Fred and George...
i wonder how it will be different from the original?
Awesome! The cover looks pretty wicked! I would buy it but i think i already have like 2 copies of the original...lol
Bought this today at the bargin price of £2.99! ! ! The introduction is pretty cool! Weirdly it's the first time I have bought a Harry Potter book from a shop - all the others where either already in my house or bought from the internet!
cool! I wonder what the introduction says! Humm... will the text and story be the same or> more hints?
I wanna read the intro of this book, and that was so cool with the voldemort thing on house. And today we were doing something on authors in school, and someone said raowling, or however they say it, and I almost blurted out rowling like bowling...lol!
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I want that!! they keep coming up with all this new stuff with special features and such...I want it all!!!!
But how does the book look, from the outside? Please tell me.
Oh! thats lovely. Its sounds pretty cheap too. I dont actually own a copy of the first book. Thats a long, very very very sad story. but i need a new one. Hmmmm....
Well all that's different is that it has an introduction...Same story, Same cover...[If ur frm the uk]
im gonna go buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
