Seven cool things about Ascendio, #7

Ascendio is H.P.E.F's upcoming eighth and final Harry Potter convention. Taking place at the luxurious Portofino Bay Resort at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL from July 12-15, 2012, Ascendio offers a unique way for fans to celebrate Harry Potter at the heart of the Wizarding World.

Online registration for the convention ends tonight, 11:59pm EDT! To mark the moment, with this post we have just completed a week of cool facts about the convention.

Our final "cool fact" is about MuggleNet's presence at Ascendio... and all of the things will be doing! Several MuggleNet staff members will be on site at Ascendio and we're all involved in different events that we may or may not have previously mentioned:

- MuggleNet Academia will be hosting a live podcast located in Ascendio's Common Room on Friday, July 13th at 11:00 AM EDT. If you're not already familiar with Academia, it's a fresh section of MuggleNet that explores, in detail, the politics and themes of the Harry Potter books (from an academic standpoint) and how they relate to our world. Orchestrated by MN Staffer Keith Hawk and "The Hogwarts Professor" John Granger, Academia has hosted several special guests from all over the fandom even in its infancy, and we have no reason to doubt that Ascendio's show will be any different.
- Wanded and Fabulous is Ascendio's Fashion Show. Taking place on Saturday evening at the Main Stage, the fashion show is a catwalk of fun where costume designers and costume wearers unite to show off their looks. MuggleNet's own Keith Hawk will be participating! If you're coming to Ascendio, be sure to show your support by cheering him on!
- Mischief Managed! is a brand-new play premiering at Ascendio. Starring MuggleNet's Eric Scull as James Potter, "Mischief Managed!" tells the story of Albus Potter, Rose Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy discovering the secret school journals of James Potter and Sirius Black. The play will be performed on Friday evening.
- MuggleCast; there will be a MuggleCast meet-up event held by members of the podcast in attendance at Ascendio. The event will be a retrospective on seven years of Harry Potter podcasting. While panelists are still being determined, we know that the event will happen at 12pm EDT (noon) on Saturday in the Common Room.
