NPR Poll: Best-Ever Teen Fiction books goes to 'Harry Potter'

A recent poll was conducted by NPR books to see which books were favorited among the Children/Young Adult books, which is the single fastest-growing publishing category. The poll received 75,220 votes and the results were not surprising - at least not to us!

Harry Potter was voted to the No. 1 position followed by the Hunger Games series.

You can see the complete list of the Top-100 right here. But if you are wondering why some titles did not make the list, the NPR blog on the poll can answer that. For example:

Going into this process, we thought that most of the books we'd lose would be disqualified for being too mature. And there were plenty of those, but in fact, our expert judging panel bounced more books because they skewed too young. By general agreement, the YA years are 12 to 18. Our panel drew a very clear line between YA books and those they considered "mid-grade;" targeted to readers aged 10 to 12. So goodbye to Little House on the Prairie, for example, and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, which are generally loved by younger readers (Forever made the cut, though).
