Laura Mallory to appeal yet again
Laura Mallory, the mother who has been crusading since August 2005 to remove the Potter books from the County's school libraries, is set to appeal to the County's Superior Court the decision Georgia state made in December to keep the books on shelves.

Mallory said, "We will take a stand for truth, and pray God will touch the hearts of this generation." For the past year and a half, she has vehemently preached that the books indoctrinate children in witchcraft. She hasn't, however, actually read the books.

Mallory says she is poised to take legal action and has apparently received "significant donations" from "supporters" in aid of this.

Posted by iloveanime123 Jan 18th 2007

NOOO not again! I really dont like her!!!! STOP ALREADY! why wont she get the hint that she should not dictate OTHER children (than her own)??

Posted by I_am_Lord_Mouldyshorts Jan 18th 2007

SHE IS SO STUPID! harry potter isn't promoting devil worship or ouija boards! and if 8 year olds run around with plastic wands, oh well! they're children! they'll get over it. she is the ONLY ONE who is taking it seriously. stupid $%#*&

Posted by pygmypuff811 Jan 18th 2007

mmm ok. hahaha by now, this whole thing is really quite amusing...does she honestly thing she'll *win* this appeal?

Posted by accioweasley Jan 18th 2007

oops, Ciaran, you posted this twice :x

Posted by hg06 Jan 18th 2007

She is the most stupidist person ever!! and what ' donations" its probibly her money but she don't wanna look like she has support!! sorry lady youll never win agent HP!!

Posted by fi_the_fairynymph Jan 18th 2007

kudos to this lady for standing up for jesus, but i dont personally think that jesus minds at all that kids enjoy an imaginative book.

Posted by Smiley Jan 18th 2007

I wonder, when this doesn't work, if she'll try appealing in a Federal Court?

Posted by neha_black_mamba Jan 18th 2007

heck. the only thing god can do for this woman is to bless her with some brains!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by HarryPotterFanAndAMomToo Jan 18th 2007

God gave us imaginations...what a gift! I would rather have my kids running around playing with wands and pretending to do silly magic than pretending to shoot guns!

Posted by EloquentPhoenix Jan 18th 2007

Why is this posted twice? She's just so unbelievably stupid.

You know Jk is loving all of this, everytime this over proctective mother goes to court her publicity goes through the roof :DDD A few years back I went into town and there was a group of people standing in the street burning harry potter Gof outside this little bookstore. They were going on about "devil-worship" and everything....it wasn't until i got home i started laughing....they would have had to buy all the books they were burning.....pretty much defeating the purpose of their "down with Jk rowling" parade... She is never going to win this case but the more she tries the more publicity Jk gets. My favourite bit is that she hasn't bothered to actually read the books......I do feel sorry for her three kids though....

Posted by James_Padfoot Jan 18th 2007

You know, you got to give this woman credit. She is DETERMINED. The only problem is she has too much determination, too little brains/commonsense. Her efforts would be so much more impactful if she used it to fight againt prejudism, or perhaps for the environment. ---- Ciaran, you posted twice. XD

Posted by Mystic_Marshwiggle Jan 18th 2007

This woman is pathetic. The scary thing is I used to be a Potter Hater until I actually READ ALL THE BOOKS! AND THEN I REALIZED THAT THEY DON'T ACTUALLY TEACH REAL WITCHCRAFT! gosh! how the HECK does she know how much witchcraft is in it if she hasn't actually read it??? thats so idiodic. We shouldn't lean latin, should we, because the potter spells are all latinized? gosh.

Posted by Fire_Whiskey_ Jan 18th 2007

I think she is an ignorant so and so, she hasn't even read the books. She is getting on like a bigot. I know there are plenty of religious people who read HP so whats her problem. I just don't see how she can comment when she hasn't even read them. Laura think of all the problems and hatred in the world and you try to ban HP when they are things so much worse.

Posted by Elphie Jan 18th 2007

grunt. the blatant ignorance of people truely amazes me.

Posted by HPluver13 Jan 18th 2007

Hey, why did Ciaran post this twice? That's weird.....

Posted by Dissendium Jan 18th 2007

Right now I don't know if I should feel sad for her kids, pay my respects to her community for the embarassment she's causing, think about what kind of a judicial system allows itself to spend resources with such an irrelevant question or just plainly cry from laughing out loud so much! Come on lady! Don't you see how uch you promote Jo's books and your stupidity to the WORLD by insisting on such a stupid action? Good Grief!

Posted by Tari Jan 18th 2007

gosh, wont she just give it a rest?? If she doesnt want her kids to read the books thats fine...but she has no right to tell other kids not to read them.

Posted by beccat_hermione Jan 18th 2007

they're praying that God will touch the hearts of HP fans? More like Laura Mallory is touched in the head!

Posted by uberskittles Jan 18th 2007

Something tells me the "supporters" are the people in her head.

Posted by James_Padfoot Jan 18th 2007

"Posted by escaping 15 minutes ago Quote: "...will touch the hearts of this generation." Someone has. She's called J.K.Rowling" ----------- ------------------------- ------------------------- --------------- *Laughs* darn right you are!

Posted by Tonia Jan 18th 2007

She is doing such a disservice to Christianity. There is a website called "gracethrufaith.com" and the Bible teacher on there has an awesome response to a parent worried about evil Harry Potter. It's pretty much what we've all been saying all along, but it is nice to hear from a religious person who has the calming and rational influence of the Holy Spirit guiding him. We as Christians should save our energy and sense of urgency for things that really matter, i.e. salvation, and stop wasting our time on extreme behavior for causes not related directly to that. HP is a fantasy, children raised in well-grounded environment will be able to distinguish fantasy from reality. If this woman is raising her children with true Christian values, they will be able to read and enjoy HP with no damage and she will have nothing to worry about. If she forbids it, she makes the material more attractive to her children. She'd be better off allowing them to read it if they want to, and then discuss the material with them, voicing her concerns.

Posted by fabricio429 Jan 18th 2007

OMFG woman give it a rest already! :@ can't she see that she's making a fool of herself? i mean.. she did get the fool of the year award last year. Is she trying to get 2 years in a row?

Posted by Lobofan5 Jan 18th 2007

******************* This post left intentionaly blank do to complete irritation.

Posted by theREALginny88 Jan 18th 2007

OK this is getting really old! Does this woman have nothing else to do? GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! This woman is making a huge joke out of herself, does she not understand this? I think this Malory expects God to preform a miricle in court and remove the books and she will be praised the leader of the HP haters! hehehehe jk............JUST GIVE IT UP ALREADY

Posted by browncoat Jan 18th 2007

While you can admire a person who doesn't give up, a person fighting an already lost (and unattainable) battle is quite cowardly. I'm not trying to do this woman any disrespect, but it is simply ludicrous of her to continue her "fight" for whatever justice there may be (if at first it exists). Ms. Mallory, do everyone a favour and do a wonderful thing both children and adults enjoy: Read.

Posted by horcruxjunkie Jan 18th 2007

Jeez!!! Can't this lady see NO ONE IS TAKING HER SERIOUSLY! i mean come on how many times has she been turned down so far? I being only 13 and knowing the harry potter books back from front think she is out of her mind. There is nothing wrong with a little imaginary FUN. Emphasis on imaginary! Its a fantasy world J.K. has created for a little imaginary journey through harry's life. not some witchcrafty thing thats going to make the devil invade the universe. Me also being a christian think she's off her rocker. Literaly

Posted by NoOneWouldListen Jan 18th 2007

I saw this on the 11 o'clock news last night... Does she really think that she's going to accomplish anything?

Posted by ambar187 Jan 18th 2007

i'm sorry but this women obviously seems off her rocker it's one thing if you read the books and don't like them fine be done with it and shut up for the people who get joy out of them but this women has never read one harry potter book and that strikes me as odd. i think she is just pisted because she did not come up with the idea she needs to find something productive to spend her time such as spending time with her kids who are hiding under the bed covers at night reading the harry potter books i think this women needs to look home instead of what everyone else is doing in their own free time and if by some twisted universe she does win it will be a sad day on earth when the h.p. fans have their say!

Posted by Dobbys_Left_Sock Jan 18th 2007

She should rather think of seeing a doctor...

Posted by Momof2isHPfan24 Jan 18th 2007

This woman is so ignorant, I can't stand it. Why doesn't she just worry about her children and let other parents be parents to their own ? It's really sicking because it's just like her saying to other parents that they don't know how to take care of their own children. Like she knows what's best for everyone when she doesn't really have a lick of sence. It just makes me want to slap some sence into that foolish idoit woman. My children are young but they like me to read the HP books to them which I only have read the first 3 and part of the 4th one to them. I don't think that they are ready to hear the end of the 4th about Cedric being killed so until they get a little older those chapters will have to wait. But it's my right to monitor what's good for my kids and what's not and she's trying to take that away for me. The books have a great story line, good can defeat evil, friendship and loyalty, and most important is love, and of course all HP fans know that. So if she wants to ban the HP books she better start looking at other books to ban too that have the same lessons. She better not try to ban them in my county cause all that woman will get is one heck of a beat down. I love JO and mugglenet. May God bless that woman with brains.

Posted by theREALginny88 Jan 18th 2007

"God will touch the hearts of this generation."- you know she is absolutely right. HP and jk rowling have touched the hearts of this generation. JkR has invited us into this world everytime we open one of the books; you are playing quittiage, fighting voldemort, practicing spell, or being forced to join SPEW. There will never be anything like HP and if anyone tries to dispute its integrity we all will be here to rally for Harry and Jo.

Posted by browncoat Jan 18th 2007

You know what, when you think about it, Laura Mallory would meet the Ministry of Magic's requirements. Blissfully ignorant. hehe

Posted by HPbrownLove1 Jan 18th 2007

give up laura... when will you learn?? Also, why was this news posted twice?

Posted by skates Jan 18th 2007

Ok. This whole thing is getting extremely old. Too bad we dont' have this stubborn woman fighting for something worth while right??!! Come on lady!!!!!! You know, I also agree that JKR must be silently laughing at this...if she know's about it at all of course...*sighs* people's these days are getting born more and more withought their heads...

Posted by pigwidgeon Jan 18th 2007

*yawn*. when will she learn that there's no point in trying? She's not going to get anywhere. She should be given community service or a fine for wasting the court's time and money.

Posted by CannyZebra Jan 18th 2007

Did anyone else actually have books on witchcraft in their school libraries? I did, they had spells to cast, potions to mix and everything, they were under "religion". Maybe she should poke around the library and weed out things that could actually be somewhat related to what she's fighting against.

Posted by Dissendium Jan 18th 2007

you know what would make me laugh even more? if one day she came home after an extenuant day at court trying to defend her poor little children and she found all three of them readin HP and loving it! That would take the cake! LOL

Posted by mastermike Jan 18th 2007

To Harry Potter fans everywhere, I say, "this idiot doesn't know what she's talking about." To Laura Mallory, I say, "If you want people to even begin taking you seriously, READ THE BOOKS. Secondly, expand your crusade to include Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia, Discworld, and EVERY SINGLE BOOK AIMED AT CHILDREN THAT INCLUDES MAGIC. If you follow these two rules, your argument looks less utterly hypocritical, but will be no less ridiculous."

Posted by Momof2isHPfan24 Jan 18th 2007

I'm in total agreence with you mastermike

Posted by AnyaMarcos Jan 18th 2007

Stupid, stupid, stupid woman. People like her are why I'm not a Christian.

Posted by phix27 Jan 18th 2007

I agree with mastermike too. She needs to actually read the books. Then, she'll she that they are addicting and need to change her statements.

Posted by ChatNoir Jan 18th 2007

well said, pigwidgeon! is she neever going to stop? ...she should take care of homeless puppies instead, did you know that playing with puppies reduces stress and anxiety? :)

Posted by Draco_Is_Mine_So_There Jan 18th 2007

That woman is ridiculous. She makes Christians everywhere look bad by sprouting off igornat ideas like that. She obviously doesn't really know what witchcraft really is. Harry Poter is a fictional book (Real to us, haha) and we don't actually think that we can make someone fly by waving ap eice of wood and saying a simple "spell" Come on now.

Posted by sugarquill4 Jan 18th 2007

She just needs to give it up. It is obviously not going to work.

Posted by luvsirusblack1 Jan 18th 2007

OMG! This woman is utterly mad! Preaching and whinning about something that she hasn't even read! Hasn't she ever heard "Never judge a book by it's cover"?

Posted by Luxmbrg_Harry Jan 18th 2007

GOD SHOULD PUNISH SUCH ANNOYING WOMEN
